The light from the window was starting to annoy Stiles. As he slowly sat up, he rubbed his face to get the sleep out of his eyes. Doing some stretches and covering a yawn with his hand, Stiles noticed what he was wearing.
'Oh, I must've fallen asleep in my costume,' he thought.
Stiles had on a red and blue suit. He made it himself using lycra and spandex. The suit was blue with red gloves, boots, mid-section, and mask. A black web pattern covered the red potions of his costume, starting at the mask. There was a black spider symbol that stretched on the center of his chest and a red spider symbol that stretched down his back. The mask had plastic lenses with crome covering that allowed Stiles to see out of them, but prevented other from seeing in. They protected his eyes from dust particles and the sun's glare.
Stiles picked up the mask that he dropped on the floor last night. 'I should change into something else before-'
-Knock-Knock!-
"Stiles?"
'Shit!'
"Stiles, are you up yet?" asked Sheriff Stilinski.
Stiles tried getting the costume off, but he kept getting stuck. As he tried to remove it, he started climbing up the walls and ceiling. "Uh, yeah. Just give me a sec! I'm not ready!"
"Stiles, you're going to be late for school!"
"I know! I know! I'll be- I'll be out!"
"I'm coming in."
"NO!" Stiles dropped on the bed and covered himself with the comforter. "Don't come in! I'm not decent!"
The door opened. "Stiles! I'm not gonna beg-" Stilinski stopped speaking when he saw his son. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm all good," said Stiles. "I'm just. I'm very naked under here."
"What happened to your face? It's covered in soot."
"Oh, yeah, I was up all night cleaning the chimney."
". . . We don't have a chimney."
"Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Then who's chimney was I cleaning?"
"Definitely not ours," stated the bewildered sheriff.
"Well how do ya like that. I busted my balls to get that chimney spotless, only to find out it wasn't even ours. Whoever owns that chimney better be grateful."
"I'm not even gonna bother trying to understand. You're late! Get down stairs now!"
"I know I'm gonna be late! Get out so I can get dressed! I don't want you staring at me."
"I'm leaving."
"Thank you." Once the door was closed the teen called out, "I love you!"
"I love you too. Hurry the hell up."
Stiles sighed in relief. Pushing off the covers, he got up to examine himself. Not only was his face covered in soot, but his uniform was dirty too.
"That was some fire last night," he muttered to himself.
Now I'm sure you're all wondering why Stiles had the red and blue suit, why he was hiding it from his dad, and why the heck was he in a fire last night. The answer is quite simple.
Stiles Stilinski is Spider-Man.
See, it all started when Stiles was fourteen. He and the rest of his eighth grade science class where on a field trip to Queen City, a city only an hour away from Beacon Hills. They were going to Oscorp and Stiles had been so excited. He was always a good student, at the top of his class, and science was one of his favorite subjects. Norman Osborn, the man who made the company, was one of the smartest men on Earth. Maybe not the smartest -that would be Reed Richards- but the man was quite brilliant.
Stiles had been in awe at the sight of the place. He wanted to get a closer look at the different projects the scientists were working on, but forced himself to stay with the group. He didn't want to get in trouble and not get to look around the building with the class. He soaked everything their guide was telling them, asks a million questions about everything, and answered any questions the guide asked the class. Stiles also whispered facts to his best friend Scott McCall as they toured the building.
Norman Osborn had shown great interest in him. Stiles's science teacher, Raymond Warren, had talked him up, bragging about how he was the best in class and being a brilliant problem solver. Stiles had been happy about the attention he was receiving. He didn't even care when Jackson and his friends started teasing him, calling him a nerd and a freak.
The last thing the class saw before they left was the genetically altered super spiders. Traits from several different spiders were used to make fifteen super spiders. Or there were support to be fifteen. One of them got out and bit Stiles on the hand. He didn't feel anything was wrong until he got home. He felt really hot and was building up a sweat. Once he was in his room, Stiles passed out on his bed.
The next morning, Stiles felt like he had unlimited energy. When he looked in the mirror he thought he was dreaming. The other day he was a skinny kid. Now he had muscles. It was bizarre. Never in a million years did Stiles think he'll ever have abs. Sure he was on the basketball team and was pretty good at the sport, but couldn't have given him a body like this.
Over the next few days, Stiles discovered he had superhuman strength, speed, stanima, durability, agility, equilibrium, and reflexes. He out ran everyone in the mile run, did twenty pull ups, seventy-give sit ups, and sixty-two push ups without breaking a sweat. He did a perfect vault and had perfect balance on a balance beam. While playing basketball, Stiles could make three pointers and slam dunks. Everyone was surprised at how athletic Stiles had become, but no one was more surprised than he was.
And that wasn't even the half of it. Once he placed his hand on his bedroom wall and it got stuck. He pulled but it wouldn't let go of the wall. After he gave it a good yank he was finally free. He stared at his hands in disbelief. Then he looked at the wall and placed a hand on it. Then the other. Before he knew it, he was climbing the wall and managed to get on the ceiling. He stayed frozen there until he gave a short yelp and flopped on his bed.
And while the wall-crawling power was cool, the spider-sense really came in handing. Some of the his classmates, mostly Jackson, were jealous of Stiles's new skills. He was already the smartest kid in school. Did he have to be the most athletic as well? So when someone tried to play a prank on him, he'd manage to avoid them. If Jackson and his loser friends threw something at him, like water balloons or lacrosse balls, he would either dodge them or catch them.
Two months after the field trip summer break started. And, yeah, Stiles did spend that summer doing normal activates like watch TV, play video games, read books (Yeah he read over the summer. He's one of the few teenagers that actually enjoys reading.), hang out with Scott, spend time with his dad when he wasn't working, all that normal stuff, he also spent that summer teaching himself how to control his new powers. Stiles would go to an old, abandoned warehouse that no one was using and goof off with his abilities.
At first he though only his hands and feet were sticky, but he discovered he could stick to a surface with any part of his body, like his back. He could lay against walls or the ceiling and read a book or listen to his iPod. And Stiles could really jump far. One day he was in Queen City and Stiles was jumping from roof top to roof top. He's done this a few times. But that day he was trying to get from one building to the other, but it was too far for him to reach. Stiles fell, plummeting towards the street below.
Stiles screamed as he fell to his death. He swung arms even though he knew nothing could stop his fall. Suddenly, a white, sticky string like substance shot from Stiles's wrist, latching onto the side of building. Before he kissed the pavement, he used the string to swing high in the air. It felt amazing, until he started to fall again. Thinking quickly about how he made the silk string appear the first time, Stiles held out his arm and bent his wrist. Another string of web shot out and attached to a skyscraper.
That day, Stiles discovered that he really loved web-swinging.
The whisky eyed teen thought about maybe using his powers for good and be a superhero like the Fantastic Four or the Avengers. He was a fan of pretty much every superhero there is. Mister Fantastic, Human Torch, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Wolverine, Ant-Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Iron Fist, Beast, Storm, Angel, Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, Iceman. The list goes on. Stiles always wanted to be like them and now that he had superpowers, he could be a hero like they are! He could save innocents like Captain America. He can have hot girl chant his name like they do for the Human Torch. He could have all of it! Everyone loved superheroes.
But then he remembered that that's not completely true. Sure the Fantastic Four and the Avengers are loved, but not the X-Men. Stiles never understood how people love heroes like Iron Man, Captain America, Ant-Man, and Wasp, but hate Wolverine, Cyclops, and Storm. Just because the X-Men are Mutants? It's not their fault they were born with the X-Gene. Captain America was born a Human and was given super human strength, and Ant-Man gave himself and Wasp their powers. The Fantastic Four were normal, powerless people until they got hit with cosmic rays and gained their powers. Even the Hulk gets more love than the X-Men do. It was not fair the X-Men and normal people born with powers were treated like scum. Then a thought entered Stiles's mind. What if people think Stiles is a Mutant and hate him?
'Would I even be good at being a superhero?' thought Stiles, hanging upside down on his ceiling. 'I'd probably just cause more trouble. I can't be a hero like them. I should just mind my own business on this one and just live my life as normal as possible.'
And that was the plan. Once school started again, Stiles just lived his life as a normal fifteen year old freshman. The skinny but lean teen became the smartest student in his class, joined the science club and game club, was on the lacrosse team with Scott, and was captain of the basketball team. Things were going pretty good for Stiles. He wasn't popular but he wasn't a social outcast. He had his best friend Scott. And he had friends like Heather, who lived in the next town so they didn't see much of each other. There was Harley, she was a friend of Stiles and Scott's. Stiles also had a couple friends on the lacrosse team and was pretty much buddies with everyone on the basketball team. Most of his teachers like him, with a few exceptions. (The spider like teen didn't get what Adrian Harris's problem was. Every time Stiles walked down the hallway, Harris would give him these nasty looks. Stiles was so glad he wasn't teaching biology (his teacher Aaron Warren, Raymond's little brother, was awesome) and hoped he never had the man for chemistry.) So basically his life was good.
But then something horrible happened. Stiles and Heather were out for a walk one night after seeing a movie saw a robber running out of a small store. They could hear the owner of the store yelling for someone to stop the thief. As the criminal ran towards them, Stiles pulled Heather away and let the guy pass them. The store owner yelled at them for letting the man get away.
"Why the hell didn't you stop him!?"
"Why didn't you stop him!?" snapped Stiles. "Are you retarded?! Two fifteen years olds trying to stop a full grown man? That loon could've had a knife or a gun!"
Turns out he did have a gun because a man saw then thief run out of the store and tried to stop him. The thief emptied him gun in the man's chest. Stiles didn't know what happened until he saw it on the news the next day. He learned how not long after he let the guy go and took Heather home, someone tried to stop the guy and got killed. The news anchor said the victim's name and gave a few details about him. He was a nice guy, well liked. His family and friends were interviewed. When Stiles saw the grieving wife and nine year old son he had never felt more guilty in his whole life.
The teen felt he was responsible for this. If he hadn't let the thief go, that man would still be alive. Sure, he had to think about Heather but Stiles had powers. He could've taken that guy. Now that woman lost her husband and that boy lost his father. The kid was only nine, the same age Stiles was when he lost him mother. He needed to make this right.
He decided to go find the crook himself. So that night he dressed up in black jeans, a dark gray shirt, and a black jacket. To hind his identity he wore a red mask, sunglasses, and a tuque (also called a knit cap, a beanie, or a stocking cap). Stiles spent all night looking around town for the thief until he found the creep in an abandoned building in a shadey part of town. The moment Stiles saw him he was filled with rage. He attacked the man, dodging every bullet that come his way. The lean teen threw punch after punch, kick after kick. He started screaming at the thief as he hit him, yelling how he ended the life of an innocent man, how he riuned the lives of that man's wife and child. Think of that young kid made Stiles freeze and he found himself think of his own mother.
Once when he was four, he had been playing by himself in the park, minding his own business when another boy started picking on him. They got in a fight and Stiles got the upper hand, sitting on the other boy and started hitting. He felt so mad and he just kept at it until Claudia pulled him off and took him to a bench and sat him on her lap. She didn't yell or scolded. She never did. Before the frontotemporal dementia, Claudia was a kind, gentle woman who loved Stiles deerly. He could do no wrong in her eyes. They were the same, both mischievous and curious about everything. Alot of Stiles's habits and tricks he got from Claudia.
She just held the small boy in her arms and told him she understood his anger. She explained in a gentle tone that he should not let his anger get the best of him. It was no good to be angry all the time. Claudia then smiled at her son and called him by his real name. She told him he was named after his grandfather. She explained that his grandfather, her father, was a great man and she loved him very much. When she looked at Stiles she knew he would grow up to be a great man too. That he would do great things. Claudia told Stiles something her father told her, that had been passed down through generations.
"With great power comes great responsibility."
Stiles stopped beating the criminal and used his webs to tie him up. Then he dropped him off at the police station, literally dropping him in front of the building, swinging back home.
After that, the spider teen decided he would use his powers to do good. He had great power, so it was his responsibility to use said power to protect the innocent and help lower the crime rate. Though at first it wasn't easy. He made his fair share of mistakes, caused some minor damages that could've been avoided. His grades almost suffered becasue of this new superhero gig. And even though the bad guy where averge joe kind of guys with no powers, just regular muggers and robbers, he would experience some bruises once in awhile. Another great part about his spider physiology was a regenerative healing factor and contaminant immunity. Sadly while he had a regenerative healing factor that allowed him to heal faster than normal human, that didn't mean he was bruise free. He had to hide his injuries from his father and friends.
He soon got the hang of things and spent the rest of ninth grade and the summer fighting crime as a superhero with straight A's. He mostly did his crime fighting in Queen City, but he also saved the day in his home town of Beacon Hills. Sometimes he would beat up bad guys I near by towns like Red Falls and Benjaminville. About two month after he became a superhero, Stiles decided he needed a better costume. He thought of many designs until he finally made the red and blue spandex suit he wore today. Thinking of a codename wasn't hard. He need one if he didn't want to be called the vigilante all the time. Every time he saved someone, he'd always leave a note signed Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man!
Now not that many people really liked Spider-Man at first. Most people thought him to be a menace to society. The Daily Bugle was responsible for that, telling lies and blaming Spider-Man for everything that went wrong in the city. But as time passed and as Spider-Man saved more people, the hate against him slowly decreased. Sure, there were plenty of folks today that still thought Spidey menace, but there were also people who knew the truth.
Stiles also created his Web-Shooters to help him fight crime. know what you're thinking. Why would a guy with the ability to organically produce his own silk webbing from glands within his forearms need web-shooters for? Well, the organic webbing required a week to decay and Stiles didn't wanna be a liter-bug. Get it? Ha! So he would sneak into the labs at school at night and created two devices that he wore on both wrists. He also created web fluid and when he pushed the buttons that rested on his palms, the fluid would become a powerful web. The artificial webbing proved to be just as strong as his biological webbing, allowing spider hero to web-swing, tie up the bad guys, and shoot web balls.
He also had a utility belt so he could have something to hold his extra clips of webbing, as well as spider-tracers (another invention of his that allow him to track objects or individuals), so he always had webs at hand. His belt could hold many different web cartridges. So far he hand his regular webbing, taser webbing, and ice webbing. The taser webbing could generate a bio-electric current within its semi-liquid substance and were used to temporarily stun opponents. The ice webbing came in handing against criminals with flame-throwers and saving people from burning buildings. Stiles hoped to someday make other webbings, such as acid webbing, magnetic webbing, flame webbing, lead-lined webbing, expanding web-foam, and quick-drying web-cement. The utility belt also had a powerful light that let him see in the dark and emitted a spider-signal to announce his arrival to criminals. It also had a UV light for forensic purposes. Stiles wore his web-shooters and utility belt under his costume.
Things got really complicated the beginning of tenth grade when Stiles and his best friend Scott went to find a dead body in the woods. Things had been pretty slow for a couple weeks and Stiles wanted some excitement. When he heard there was half a body found in the forest preserves, Stiles rushed over to Scott's and dragged him along. While in the woods, Stiles's spider-sense warned him of danger, but he was unable to avoid getting caught by the dogs and his dad took him back to his jeep, giving him a lecture on how he was supposed to respect his father's privacy and stop listening to his calls. Scott ended up getting bitten by a werewolf that night and became one himself.
And so Stiles spent the first half of his sophomore year not only going to school and throwing crooks in jail, but he also had to help Scott learn how to control is new werewolf powers and track down a rouge alpha wolf. And ass-hat hunters running aroud town trying to kill every werewolf in sight didn't help matters at all. It wasn't always easy pretending to be a normal human who could not defend himself when in reality he was a mutated human who could totally kick ass, but Stiles couldn't risk giving himself away. He wasn't ready to tell Scott his secret yet and he didn't trust his secret to Derek, the werewolf who was helping Scott learn control and hunting the alpha to kill him in revenge for killing his older sister.
His superhero job was putting dents in his relationships with his friends and father, but the supernatural was really putting a toll. Harley no longer spoke to Stiles or Scott 'cause they kept ignoring her trying to deal with Scott earning control and trying to get ride of the alpha. Stiles lost a few other friends too. He hadn't been able to hang out or even talk to Heather and Stiles felt really guilty about that. Even more so for always lying to his father, so was getting really suspicious. The only friends Stiles had left were Scott, Allison, Harry, Flash, and Felicia (He still had Heather, but because she didn't live in the same town it was hard to hang out).
By some miracle, Scott and Stiles survived the first semester and stopped the alpha, who turned out to be Derek's uncle, Peter, who killed his niece to become an alpha and get revenge against Allison's aunt for what she did to him and his family. Derek killed him and became the new alpha. The next day, Stiles finally told Scott his secret. Scott was both shocked and amazed to hear the news. He couldn't believe his best friend was actually Spider-Man! Stiles was glad to have his best friend in the know.
Now it was the second semester and the honey-brown eyed sixteen year old was getting out of his quick shower and getting dressed. Wearing his Batman boxers and Batman socks, Stiles looked though his closet and pulled out a pair of jeans and a Batman t-shirt. Putting on a Batman belt (He was in a Batman mood today, ok?) and a dark blue jacket, the thin teenager slipped on him favorite sneakers. Then he went to pick up his backpack which had his homework and school books in it, as well as a clean suit and his web-shooters.
Stiles rushed down the stairs and made a quick stop at the kitchen. He grabbed an apple and said a quick good-bye to his dad before he went outside and got in his jeep which he named Roscoe. After five minutes of waiting, the jeep finally started and he was off to school.
"Time to start another crazy day."
Hero by Nickelback
I am so high, I can hear heaven
I am so high, I can hear heaven
Whoa, but heaven, no, heaven don't hear me
And they say that a hero could save us
I'm not gonna stand here and wait
I'll hold on to the wings of the eagles
Watch as we all fly away
The Green Goblin hovered over the bridge on his glider, holding Heather in his grasp. Spider-Man stood on top of the bridge, seething in rage. How dare the goblin kidnape one of his dearest friends! What was worse, the Green Goblin was Norman, the father of one of his other dear friends. Spidey and Gobby had been fighting for months, not knowing who the other was until resently. The second Norman knew Stiles was Spider-Man, he knew the only way to defeat him was to attack the heart.
Green Goblin threw Heather over the bridge. Heather screamed as she fell.
"Heather! NO!" cried Spider-Man. "I've got to catch her! Stop her fall before she hits the water!" He used his web-shooters to shoot a string of web to catch Heather. "I've got to! I've GOT to!" Swik! He catch her leg just before she hit the water. "DID IT! Spider-powers, I love you!" He began to pull her up "Not only am I the most dashing hero on two legs. I'm easily the most versatile. Who else could save a falling girl from certain DEA- Heather?"
She wasn't moving. Wasn't breathing!
"Hey, kid, what's wrong? Don't you understand? I saved you! You can't be-" But she was. "NO! Oh, no, no, no! Don't be dead, Heather! I don't want you to be dead! I saved you. . .don't you see? I saved you."
"IDIOT!" mocked the Green Goblin. "She was dead before your webbing reached her! A fall from that height would kill anyone! Before they struck the ground! But for you, my friend, death will come more quickly and more surely than the sock of a sudden fall!"
"Wrong, Goblin!" sneered Spider-Man. "You're the creep who's going to pay! I'm going to destroy you slowly and have you beg for death!"
Someone told me love would all save us
But, how can that be, look what love gave us
A world full of killing and blood spilling
That world never came
And they say that a hero could save us
I'm not gonna stand here and wait
I'll hold on to the wings of the eagles
Watch as we all fly away, Ahhaaaa
Stiles and Malia were gazing at the stars, laying on a giant web he made.
"Scott still think Theo can be trusted," said Stiles.
"You really don't trust him," said Malia.
"My Spider-Sense goes off whenever I'm near him. Scott just thinks I'm paranoid."
Malia gave him a kiss on the lips. "He'll come around. In the mean time, relax. You just took down Doc Ock today."
"That was hours ago and I'm still sore."
"I know how to fix that."
Stiles grinned.
Now that the world isn't ending
It's love that I'm sending to you
It isn't the love of a hero
And that's why I fear it won't do
And they say that a hero could save us
I'm not gonna stand here and wait
I'll hold on to the wings of the eagles
Watch as we all fly away
And they're watching us, (watching us)
They're watching us, (watching us)
As we all fly away
And they're watching us, (watching us)
They're watching us, (watching us)
As we all fly away
And they're watching us, (watching us)
They're watching us, (watching us)
As we all fly away
Whoa-hoa
Where is was a supernatural attack or a supervillain, both Stiles and Spider-Man would be ready.
The first part of this was going to be the beginning of my Spider-Man!Stiles story, but I didn't like how it was going. I didn't wanna delete it, so I just made it into a music one-shit. I hope to write a Spider-Man Stiles story soon.
