Author's Note: So am I the only one who writes fanfiction in the middle of the night? Thank goodness I have insomnia or this thing would never get updated. I am going to try my best to update at least once a week until the end of the summer. But that may not happen, so I apologize in advance. I can't believe the amount of favorites and follows on this fic. It really means so much to me. You guys have no idea. Your support is what keeps me writing.

I'm just going to answer a few questions from reviewers. I read every review, so please keep reviewing.hauntedpumpkin56, the story will pick up, I promise. Not every chapter is going to just be them reading the letters, and I'm going to add more characters from the book as the story progresses. anneliese, don't worry, Patrick will have gotten very angsty by the end of this. Right now Patrick is just trying to be comedic relief for Sam who is very distressed at this point, but he's definitely going to have moments where he can't hide his emotions anymore. Also, Sam is going to have a lot to say about the Charlie and Patrick kiss. It should be a very hilarious freak out. tiffanyisnotonfire, thank you. Is your name a play on danisnotonfire, the youtube channel? Let me know, I'm curious. Thank you to all my reviewers! I'll get back to more of you next time.

Disclaimer: Clearly I don't own the Perks of Being a Wallflower. Everything in bold and italics (so it shall not be confused with the author's note or disclaimer) comes directly from the Perks of Being a Wallflower and was written by the amazing Stephan Chbosky (you'll also be able to tell because he's a much better author than me.)

To say Sam and Patrick were thrilled would be an understatement. Charlie was the kind of friend who leaves you with more questions than answers. Just when you thought you had finally figured him out, he would go and do something to confuse you all over again. Now Patrick and Sam were finally getting reasons to why Charlie did some of the odd things he did throughout their friendship. For example, they finally knew what Charlie was thinking when he acted so strangely at the homecoming football game.

In terms of my participation in things, I am trying to go to social events that they set up in my school. It's too late to join any clubs or anything like that, but I still try to go to the things that I can. Things like the homecoming football game and dance, even if I don't have a date.
I cannot imagine that I will ever come home for a homecoming game after I leave here, but it was fun to pretend that I was. I found Patrick and Sam sitting in their normal spot in the bleachers, and I started acting like I hadn't seen them in a year even though I had seen them that afternoon in lunch when I ate my orange, and they smoked cigarettes.
"Patrick, is that you? And Sam ... it's been so long. Who's winning? God, college is such a trial. My professor is making me read twenty-seven books this weekend, and my girlfriend needs me to paint signs for her protest rally Tuesday. Let those administrators know we mean business. Dad is busy with his golf swing, and Mom has her hands full with tennis. We must do this again. I would stay, but I have to pick my sister up from her emotional workshop. She's making real progress. Good to see ya."
And then I walked away. I went down to the concession stand and bought three boxes of nachos and a diet coke for Sam. When I returned, I sat down and gave Patrick and Sam the nachos and Sam her diet coke. And Sam smiled. The great thing about Sam is that she doesn't think I'm crazy for pretending to do things. Patrick doesn't either, but he was too busy watching the game and screaming at Brad, the quarterback.

"It all makes sense now," Sam had said after she and Patrick had read that portion of the letter. Patrick gave her a look like he was thinking about having her committed.

"I'm still pretty confused. Charlie didn't have a reason for pretending to act like we were all in college or whatever. He wasn't ever doing it to be funny. The idea just popped into his head."

"Exactly," said Sam. Her eyes were glistening as though she had just seen the light. Patrick, meanwhile, was rolling his eyes at his sister's attempt to get into Charlie's head. "Sometimes Charlie has no reason for doing things. He just acts on impulse without thinking things through."

Patrick had to admit that Sam had a point. Charlie was always either or overthinking or barely thinking at all. There was no middle ground for him. Patrick explained this to Sam and she nodded.

"I think this has gotten Charlie into trouble in the past," Sam reflected. Patrick's mind started racing with examples. Before he could share any, however, he was interrupted by the ringing of the phone.

"I'll get it," he offered. "People always call right before your about to make a psychological breakthrough," he mumbled under his breathe.

"Who is it and what do you want?" Patrick answered the phone in his usual fashion.

"It's Mary Elizabeth you asshole," the voice on the other end answered impatiently.

"Oh, Mary Elizabeth! Always a pleasure to hear from you!" Patrick exclaimed in a purposely over enthusiastic voice.

"Yeah, okay. Can you and Sam meet me at the Big Boy in an hour?"

"Sure," Patrick's voice returned to its normal tone. "I could go for a burger."

"Great. I have something important to share with you guys," Mary Elizabeth finished and hung up abruptly, leaving Patrick a bit confused.
