-Chapter 4-

We walked up to the gym only to see that the doors were locked. I turned to Barry and Hilda.

"I think we should go to the Pokemon Center to ask where Volkner is."

They nodded and I quickly turned around and ran over to the Pokemon Center with Barry and Hilda right behind me.

0o0o0o0

We made it inside and I walked over to the front desk, where I even saw Nurse Joy missing. Barry then crossed him arms and started to tap his foot impatiently.

"Okay this is just ridiculous! First Volkner, now Nurse Joy!"

Hilda moved toward him and put an arm around his shoulders, which caused me to look away from them.

"Hey don't worry Barry. Maybe we can have our own little battle."

I shifted my eyes toward Hilda and she looked at me.

"What do you say Dawn. You and me, huh?"

I blinked a couple times while looking at Hilda's arm around Barry.

"I don't know, I was hoping to battle Volkner..."

"Don't worry about it, I'll be just as good as that gym leader you wanted to battle."

She finally moved her arm from Barry and took my hands into her own while bringing them up between the two us.

"Please Dawn, I think It'll be fun. Plus this battle will give me an idea of the kind of girl Barry's been cr— OW!"

I watched Barry as he quickly went up to Hilda and pinched her neck really hard. I immediately took my hands from her grasp and backed up a little.

"BARRY WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU! THAT HURT A LOT YOU KNOW THAT!"

"Yea I know, you were about to tell her..."

He quickly smiled at me with bright pink cheeks and took Hilda to the side. I know Barry turns pink when he gets angry or when he's embarrassed, but I noticed he's done it quite a couple times today. I just want him to tell me what's been bothering him. He always tells me what's been bothering him... I looked at the two of them and watched as they both whispered some more.

*Maybe I should put Togekiss away if I do battle someone soon.*

I walked over to the Pokemon exchange and switched my Togekiss out for one of my other Pokemon. I turned over to Barry and Hilda only to see them still talking to one another.

*I should see what's going on.*

I walked up to them when I heard the last of their conversation.

"... can't tell Dawn now, okay? I'll tell her tomorrow afternoon. I hope she'll understand."

"Tell me what?"

After I said that, Hilda looked worried and jumped in between me and Barry.

"uuhh... Tell you that.. uuhhh... it's a good idea to... battle me. Now. Yea right now come on!"

"I guess we can battle."

She grabbed me by my wrist and dragged me to the the battle field outside of the Pokemon Center, making her way to one side, while I went to the other. Barry quickly came around the corner and stood next to me and started to casually talk to me as if I didn't here what he said back in the Pokemon Center.

"I know Hilda's wild and all, but she's a serious trainer. I'll be rooting for the both of you."

He gave me a quick pat on my head and waved toward Hilda.

"I HOPE DAWN BEATS YOU OUT THERE!"

She made a quick remark toward him, while he started to walk to a nearby bench and looking at her.

"AND I HOPE YOU DON'T NOTICE THAT STRAY POKEBALL LYING ON THE FLOOR!"

"Wait whaaa..."

Barry had looked down, but it was too late. He had stepped on it and tripped over it landing face first onto the ground.

"Barry are you alright?!"

I started to make my way toward him, but he threw his hand up and waved me off.

"Don't worry Dawn I'm fine, just battle that beast across from you."

I walked back to my side of the field and saw a huge smirk across Hilda's face.

"Oh Barry, that's why we became friends. But I think you've got your side of the story wrong. You're the Beast and I'm the Beauty."

She smiled even wider and laid her hands out with her palms facing up.

"Or perhaps you would rather Dawn be the Beauty in this little fairy tail of yours."

I blushed brightly because if I recall the Beauty and the Beast end up marrying at the end of that story. Barry was about to say something, but I cut in before he could.

"Maybe we should start the battle now. I really want to see the kind of Pokemon you have Hilda."

Hilda smiled, what looked to me, a genuine smile and opened her satchel bag.

"Ok, and I think we should have a double battle to speed things up a bit."

I took off my bag and opened it, grabbing my first two Pokemon that I wanted to use.

"Alright, a four-on-four sound good to you?"

She nodded while holding two Pokeballs.

"Go ahead Dawn."

I threw my Pokeballs and out came my Tyhplosion and my Rapidash. They both cried and stood tall.

"Guys we're gonna battle now, keep your guard up."

They cried once more and kept their battle stance up.

"Now it's my turn. Come on out you two!"

I watched intently expecting to see either Swanna or some other new species of Pokemon that I hadn't seen before. As the light disappeared, I clearly saw her Pokemon. They were ones I had definitely seen before, a Flygon and an Ampharos.

"Meet Flygon and Ampharos. My double battling duo. Alright let's start this battle."

I nodded and made the first move.

"Rapidash use Sunny Day and Typhlosion use Lava Plume!"

We all watched as Rapidash's flames started to glow brightly causing everyone to wince a little, except for Typhlosion, who was creating a huge wave of lava on the field that hit both Ampharos and Flygon, leaving Rapidash alone because of his Flash Fire ability.

"Wow! Now it's my turn. Flygon use Rock Slide on them and Ampharos use Discharge!"

Flygon quickly hit the ground causing a massive amount of rocks to come up and fall down onto Thyphlosion and Rapidash, plus they got that extra charge zapped into them because of Discharge. They both fell back causing me to gasp.

"Are you alright guys?"

They both looked at me and gave me determined looks, telling me that they have some fight left in them after that super effective attack. But I did notice that Rapidash looked the worst and was Paralyzed. I gave them both a softened look and we continued on.

"I know you two can hold on longer! Typhlosion use Solar Beam on Flygon quick, and Rapidash use Bounce on Ampharos!"

Because of Rapidash's Sunny Day, Typhlosion got to blast Flygon with his Solar Beam without taking too long, but Rapidash had trouble trying to Bounce. I looked over at Hilda to see what her next move was going to be.

"Flygon use Earth Power on Rapidash and Ampharos use Power Gem on Typhlosion!"

I watched as both her weakened Pokemon made their moves, yet they were anything but weak. Flygon's Earth Power made massive damage on Rapidash and the same with Ampharos using Power Gem, making them both faint, causing me to return them to their Pokeballs.

"Had enough Dawn, you could forfeit ya know!"

I shook my head and gave Hilda a smile.

"It's not over til' it's over."

"GOOD JOB DAWN, KEEP ON GOING!"

I looked over at Barry who had been standing on the bench and gave me a thumbs up. I returned it, sending him a toothy smile and a thumbs up as well. I turned back toward Hilda's Pokemon watching as they breathed fast sharp breaths.

"Maybe you should call it quits Hilda, it looks like your team's had enough."

"HA HA HA very funny Dawn. You guys wanna call it quits?!"

I watched as Flygon and Ampharos made big battle cries and started to get pumped up.

"Like you said Dawn, it ain't over til' it's over!"

I nodded and threw out my last two Pokemon.

"We can finish this guys!"

As my Pokeballs came back, my Pokemon appeared before us. My Raichu and my Glaceon looked at Flygon and Ampharos, making threatening faces, while they did it back.

"Raichu use Dig on Ampharos and Glaceon use Blizzard!"

"Flygon quickly hit Raichu with Dragon Claw before he goes under, Ampharos, Signal Beam on Glaceon."

Flygon charged toward Raichu, but he burrowed his way underground before Flygon could touch him. And Glaceon pushed a huge gush of chilly wind toward Flygon and Ampharos, but Ampharos got out of the way just in time to avoid it, only being able to get Flygon. After she used Blizzard, Ampharos shot at Glaceon with a critical hit, pushing her back toward me.

"DAWN LOOK OUT!"

Glaceon's body came flying toward me and I braced myself, waiting for what was going to happen when she hit me.

"Dawn!"

"Flygon grab Glaceon!"

I was tackled to the floor by, who I think was, Barry and when he did that, I could feel the hard ground scrape against my back. I inhaled sharply, feeling the bits of rocks and dirt seethe into my scrape.

"Dawn it's okay now."

I heard Barry's soft voice and his hand reach up to stroke my hair. Peeking up I saw how he looked gently at me and sighed.

"Good your fine, but I think your dress might have ripped. Come on let's get you up."

I stood up and felt a draft hit my back. I turned around with my back facing Barry, turning my face toward him.

"Well. How bad is it?"

His faced turned a bright red and he immediately turned his head while taking his jacket off.

"I think maybe you should wear this and maybe we should head back to your place to get your back cleaned up."

I nodded, put the coat on, and turned toward Hilda and our Pokemon.

"Dawn are you alright, I'm so sorry. I didn't know that Ampharos would be that strong. I think we should just end this battle."

"It's okay Hilda, It was my fault. I should have moved out of the way."

"Rai! Rai!"

Raichu ran up to me and jumped into my arms while nudging my face with his.

"I'm fine Raichu, I'm just a little hurt. Where's Glaceon?"

Raichu jumped down while Flygon flew to me with a fainted Glaceon in his arms.

"Thank you Flygon."

I took Glaceon and picked up my bag, taking her Pokeball out and putting her inside.

"Let's go back to my place everyone. It was a fun battle anyways. Thank you Hilda."

"You welcome Dawn."

She walked up to me and gave me a big hug, while avoiding touching my back.

*Maybe Hilda's not so bad after all. Barry would be lucky to have her.*
