Chapter 13

Vegeta was lost in thought as he was doing handstand pushups. He couldn't believe how vulnerable he was with Bulma at the Rehab Center. For him, this was out of character. He blew up half a facility and tortured people not for himself but for her. This alone shook him. When did he become a protector? His thoughts were really confusing to him.

He was stopped. He was so close to annihilating the man who dared to threaten Bulma, but she managed to convince him otherwise. "A threat to you is a threat to me." He recalled expressing to her. "What has come over me? Is this real?" he continued to think. He intended to keep his emotions in check, but everything was coming out at once. Once she mentioned the night of the charity, he knew what was coming next. "If she still believed letting another man kiss her in front of me is okay, then she didn't know me. Screw human tradition." He thought. By then he had taken flight and yet again she was yelling at him to stay. But he refused. His job was done. He was certain Toshiro wouldn't think twice about contacting Bulma.

He tried to push the thoughts aside as he continued to work out. He amped the gravity machine up to 550 and he wasn't intending to stop. Becoming a Super Saiyan became his priority again. He didn't want to avoid Bulma, but if he had to, he wouldn't think twice about it. He had to focus. He didn't recognize himself. This wasn't the same Vegeta that came to Earth looking for the dragon balls months ago. He was changing, and it troubled him.

Ever since he took shelter on Earth, he noticed the differences in himself. He thought nothing of them until he felt something for Bulma. These emotions were racing and pushing hard against the barriers he built within himself. He wasn't happy. But backing up his mate made him excited in a way he could never explain out loud. "How can I, Prince Vegeta be in love?" he thought to himself. "Me? I would be a laughing stock amongst the cosmos. Me? It's impossible. This woman managed to break down the walls I built for years. How could she?" he kept reflecting. He pushed himself up and powered up. He let his anger flare out. His power surge caused the Capsule Corp to shake. The residents and workers carried on like nothing happened.

LATER

Bulma walked in the kitchen and he automatically turned all his attention to her. Bulma's mother sat a platter of meat in front of Vegeta, but he hardly noticed. Bulma had taken his whole mind to another place. The feelings he was questioning earlier came back in full force. She turned around to face him and it was then he could only stare into her eyes. Her blue eyes meeting his black ones. It was paradise.

"Look who came out of the gravity chamber." She spoke. He heard her smart remark, but all he could focus on was the outline of her face. It relaxed him. She was flawless in his eyes. No matter how much he wanted to reject these feelings, he knew the truth. He looked her over and realized she was dressed. "Going somewhere, woman?" Vegeta asked firmly.

"The science expo and no you're not invited. Don't need another Toshiro incident out of you." She spoke with a hint of sarcasm.

"Tuh, like I would ever go to another one of those events." He responded back. He knew if he tagged along he would only get bored to death before causing a pandemonium, which in turn would make Bulma even more livid with him. And the way he was feeling about her now, that was the last thing he wanted.
