A/N: It's been two months, guys. I'm sorry. :/ Anyway, let's see how Sasuke gets rid of this dare. Or does he? Read and find out!
TenTen POV
(Sunday—9:00 AM)
"WHAT?" I stare in bewilderment at my phone. I had woken up by my text tone for Sakura and had groggily opened up her message. Now I basically have a whole book in front of me to read. ALL about her date with the Uchiha.
As I start to read, my stomach churns. Sakura...Certain words and phrases stand out more to me than most. "It felt like old times...I knew he was hiding something...He got angry when we were leaving, but I can't tell you why...He took me home in silence...There was no goodbye." I murmur to myself these phrases over and over.
I finally decide to go make the stupid boy apologize. I fling myself out of bed and rush to get ready.
"He disappeared after breakfast this morning. I'm sorry, Tenten. Maybe you should ask one of his friends." Mikoto Uchiha gives me a sympathetic look. His father, on the other hand, has been glaring at the empty parking spots in their opened garage. I notice that there is not only one missing car but two. Before I can dwell on this, though, I decide to leave. "Thanks. I'll see if Naruto knows where he went." I give her a slight smile and turn back to walk down their long sidewalk back to my car.
Once I buckle up I turn my key and start to back up. I hope the knucklehead knows where he went. I sigh as I make a sharp left towards the blonde's house miles away. As I drive I try to pay close attention to all of my surroundings, just in case he is still close by. I then remember that the park is coming up soon, so I decided to check it out as well. As I get closer I note a figure on the basketball court, so I park and silently sneak in the person's direction.
If it's Sasuke, he has great senses. I hope he doesn't hear me sneaking up. I pray inwardly. Luckily I can tell it is him by his black, spiky hair, and he seems very distracted. He has shot the ball several times and surprisingly missed each. Suddenly he furiously throws the ball at the backboard, which then makes it rocket far past him and towards me. Oh great. He absentmindedly turns around and then stalks forward in my direction. Then he sees me and stares in disbelief.
"What are you doing here?" He frowns at me and continues in my direction to retrieve the ball that has rolled to my feet. I reach down and pick it up from the dirt, then hold onto it. "I wanted to know how last night went. I don't have your number and decided to come by and see you. Your parents said you weren't home, so I came by here." If it's possible I watch him frown even more and then stop right in front of me.
"Yeah, about that. I'm not going to continue. Thanks for letting me tell you now instead of tomorrow." He extends his hands forward as if to take the ball from me, but instead, I prop it next to my hip. "That doesn't answer my question, and you can't quit." He gives me a dirty look and smacks the ball away from me. I run towards it but he beats me with his quick reflexes. "What does it matter how I think it went? Go ask Sakura." He walks out of the dirt and back to the court.
I follow him and immediately try to take the ball from him. He circles away before I can even get a fingertip on it. "She did tell me. And quite frankly, I don't think it helped her. She's confused and I think you should apologize for hurting the poor girl. She'll forgive you like always and you can make it up to her by way of another date." He runs up to the hoop and scores a layup. "She should stop forgiving me then...I told her to forget about me and she doesn't listen."
I stop in my tracks. "Sasuke...You can't be serious. Just give her a chance!"
"Tell her to stop giving me chances!" He yells vehemently. I don't know if I imagine it, but I think I see tears in his eyes. He holds on to the ball and stares down at it. I've never seen him so..upset before. I pause for a moment to think about what I should say. "Sasuke, what happened? Weren't you guys best friends when you were kids?" He glares at the ball for a few seconds, then looks across the court to his bag. He strides over to it and sets the ball inside, then zips it up.
"...She thinks she can heal me, but she can't..." He mumbles at the point that I just barely hear him. I stand there too confused to respond or even go after him.
Naruto POV
(Monday—11:30 AM in the school cafeteria)
The lunchroom is filled to the brim with thrilling voices and laughter. The team and I had found our table and started eating moments before the crowds filtered in. "So guys, are you ready for basketball? I can't wait!" I say in excitement with my mouth full of food. Shikamaru rolls his eyes while Neji, Kiba, Shino, and Lee nod. Sasuke picks at his food in silence. "And with Neji as our captain, we will surely win all of our games!" Lee cheers before slurping his drink. "What? But Teme, you are usually the captain!" I question. He barely acknowledges my words, but does reply with a short, "I can't this year, Dobe."
"Well fine! Maybe we will go undefeated this year thanks to Neji!" I jab but with no retaliation. I look around the table to see if anyone else notices, but they are all too caught up in a new conversation. What's up with Sasuke? I continue chowing down when I hear a shifting of a chair next to Neji. I look up to see Tenten.
"Hey, Tenten!" I say with a smile. She gives me a small smile. "Hey, knucklehead. How was Saturday night?" She wiggles her eyebrows. Everyone turns toward me with curious looks, except for Kiba and Sasuke. "Yeah! I wanted to know, too!" Kiba smirks. "What are our friends talking about, Naruto?" Lee inquires.
"Oh, haha...well ya see.." I feel myself blush for some reason but continue on. "Hinata and I, uh...went to Ichiraku's together."
"It was a date, too! I was there when he asked! Her face was priceless!" Kiba chuckles. "WHAT?!" Everyone who didn't know exclaims. "Yup, and I set it up. Now, go ahead, Naruto. Tell us how it went!" I take a long breath and respond quickly. "It was great! We just talked and it was a lot of fun. Now if you guys excuse me, I have a 12 o'clock class." And with that, I push my chair back and pick up my trash, then almost sprint away. I hear a few whistles coming from that table as I throw things away and walk out of the huge room.
What is my problem? It was just one date, and it WAS fun...Maybe I'll run into her later and ask her to go do something this weekend, too. I smile to myself as I walk down the hall and into my class, not knowing that said violet-eyed girl was just behind me with heavy books in her hands. I slam the door only to hear a tumbling right behind it. Fearing that I hurt someone I open the door and see her with a book on her head and others scattered across the tile floor. Well, I guess I found her.
Thanks for reading! I almost want to make this just about Sasuke and Sakura, but at the same time, Naruto and Hinata need to grow together, too. Their relationship will be easier to create so I might get theirs out of the way first, then really get started on SasuSaku. Let me know what you guys think! I love getting reviews and seeing if you like the storyline. :)
