When Elijah entered the house wearing his wedding band, it felt normal to him. He knew Elena would be upstairs that is why he walked up the stairs to see his "wife". His eyes were on Elena as she was in Ava's room trying to explain to her on why Ava had to stay with Elena's Uncle Alaric.

"Lexi come too?" Ava asked confused from what Elena was trying to tell her.

"No just Alaric and Jo. Lexi is going to be at her house." Elena said while she sat down on the floor with Ava. "I'll be home before you know it. It is going to be like a trip. Like the one we took to Florida."

"Where Daddy going?" Ava asked as she played with her teddy bear staring down at it.

"Daddy is coming with me." Elena brushed her fingers through her hair trying to not get frustrated while she tried to explain this situation to a three year old girl. "Just a few weeks, I will call you and Alaric will help you FaceTime with us. I want you to pick out your favorite toys and then I'll pack the rest of your stuff." She pressed a kiss to Ava's forehead before she stood up and left the room seeing Elijah standing there. She rolled her eyes and walked passed him going into her room.

"She'll understand it when she is older." Elijah assured Elena while she began to pack some of her best clothes that she only used for U.C jobs.

"She shouldn't have to Elijah. We should have been more careful." Elena whispered. When they were in love, their love was very hot. Usually they were too wrapped up to remember a condom and Elena would often not have time to take the pill. "We should have waited, now she has to go through things that a girl her age doesn't. We have to do background checks on everyone before they meet her, we have to have security guards watching her every time she leaves the house, her nanny was once a fellow agent." Elena threw her clothes down in the suitcase and let out a sigh. Elijah walked over to her and pulled her into his arms before she started to cry.

Elena grew up with her parents being inactive agents unlike Elijah who had both parents active and was just like how Elena and Elijah are with Ava. Never once did her parents hire security guards or run intensive background checks on sitters that just watched her brother and her for a few hours. Her dad didn't even leave a gun in the house.

"Finish packing, take your time. I will go be with Ava, she shouldn't see you like this." Elijah kissed the side of her head before he left the room. He knew Elena didn't want to have to raise children while they were both still active. They had talked about quitting but both loved the job and couldn't ask one another to quit.

"Daddy!" He heard Ava squeal when he entered her room and he picked her up. "Are you home?" He knew she meant was he coming home to stay.

"No sweetie just for tonight. How about we play a game?" He smiled at her; feeling bad that his daughter couldn't understand the divorce or why her daddy had to live somewhere else. He picked her up and took her over to her lego table, he played with her and built houses with her. It felt normal for him to being playing with his daughter in the room he helped built for her. He wanted nothing more than to be home and have his girls back, but it felt a little too late for that to happen.

He was looking around the room at the pictures Ava made hung up on the walls. He noticed one with aman he didn't recognize. "Sweetie, who is in this picture with your mum and you?"

"Damon, Mommy's friend. We go to eat his place." He knew Ava was talking about Elena's boyfriend. They had a rule they could only introduce Ava to the people they are dating if they are actually serious about this person. It boiled Elijah's blood to know how Elena felt about Damon without telling him.

"We go to his place to eat." He corrected his daughter. Ava was still having some problems saying things right but she has been trying and both Elena and Elijah were involved with trying to help her.

Elijah walked back into Elena's room after tucking Ava into her bed. The first thing he noticed was her wedding band and engage ring was back on her ring finger. Then his eyes darkened with lust when he saw Elena's black nightgown he remembered buying for her once. Her hair was tied back exposing more of her olive skin. She was writing in her seafoam green colored journal before she saw him looking at her.

"Ava is asleep, she asked for her usual bedtime story." Elijah said and watched Elena nod her head while putting her journal away on the nightstand.

"She does love that story." Elena said as she stood up from the bed and untied her curls from the dark hair tie. Elena stood in front of him noticing something was off with how he was acting "Elijah what is it?"

"This sucks Elena!" He blurted out with a heavy sigh. "She asked me if I was coming home, she is confused. This is how it shouldn't be."

"It shouldn't be." She agreed. "But it is how it is."

"Can't it be different? I love you. I am in love with you. You can't lie to me and say you are not. Let me come home. We can work on this." He said to her as he backed her up again the wall by the bed.

"No we can't Elijah, I can't get over the cheating or who it was with. I can't pretend to get over it." Elena told him with hot tears coming down her eyes. "I do still love you..." Before she could get another word out Elijah pressed his lips against hers.

The kiss wasn't gentle at all; it was rough and passionate. Elena didn't struggle instead she kissed him back the way he was, her hands threaded through his hair giving it a tug that made him hiss against her lips. Their tongues battled for dominance like they always had. His hands were moving around to the back. He cupped her ass in his hands and lifted her up. By instinct she wrapped her long legs around his waist. Their lips never broke but their eyes eyes never opened to meet eachs others lust filled eyes.

When her back hit the bed and his lips were sucking at her neck, that is when the spell broke and she pushed Elijah off of her. Both of their chests moving fast like their hearts were, both with heavy breaths.

"You should go." Elena broke the silence but got silence in return when Elijah just left. He not only left her confused but Elena wanting more of whatever came over them.

After she dropped Ava off at Alaric's house, Elena went to the Law's private plane hangar. There she met up with not only her partner and boss but the time that would be joining Elijah and Elena. Rebekah, Matt, Caroline and Klaus would be coming as back up and to help them if needed.

It was not only Elijah and Elena that found their love through working for the Law but Rebekah met Matt and have been married for a year now. Caroline and Klaus has been married for almost as long as Elena and Elijah would have been. Rebekah wants to wait to inactive to have children, but Caroline's and Klaus's son Nikolas two years old and was mostly stays with Caroline's mother.

Elena was talking with Rebekah when Elijah came over and pulled Elena to the side before she could say anything. He lead them onto the plane and sat her down in a seat. "Do you need to teach me like a rag doll?" Elena rolled her eyes at him and crossed her arms over her chest.

"What happened last night?" Elijah asked Elena which caused her to roll her eyes once again.

"You kissed me, I told you no and you left. You were there sober." Elena said with a sarcastic tone.

"I met the fact you kissed me back Elena and admitted you still love me." Elijah pointed out gripping onto both of the arm rests to make sure she doesn't run off. She pressed her hand on his chest and pushed against him to keep distance between them.

"I do love you still, maybe always. But I am not in love with you. You lost that sort of love when I saw you with her. Our marriage over, you aren't coming home, our family is broken for good." Elena said and looked away from Elijah. He leaned in close to her ear, his hot breath moving along her now goosebump covered skin.

"I am still in love with you. I am not giving up on us just like before though this might take more than some roses and pestering you for days on end." He whispered to her before he moved to the back and the rest of the team joined them on the flight.

Elena looked back at her ex husband knowing as soon as they landed they would be husband and wife once again, it scared her to death. Not only for the man they had to spy on but for having to be close to the man that broke her after he helped build her back.

Off to Italy for them. Next we get to see Elena Pierce and Elijah Smith along with Silas, Jeremy and Bonnie. We also get to find out Elena's past and what is the connection between everyone.
