I'm working on writing a bit more. Here is just a small bit for you to enjoy.

Naru tapped his fingers on the desk. He was annoyed, couldn't think clearly. He knew the causes of his issue. Lin was not there with his calm influence to bounce ideas off from and research ideas without questioning how he got an idea and wasting valuable time and energy going back through thought processes and dumbing them down for a common person to understand. Tap, tap, tap. Even his own tapping was annoying him. He missed Lin, and Mai.

That was the second part of the problem, Mai and more importantly her tea. Couldn't one other person make a decent cup of tea? Not one of the five people who Madoka brought from England could make a decent cup of tea. Even Madoka was killing the tea.

Tea withdrawal.

Naru decided that was the one part of this he could fix. He walked out of his office and looked around the waiting room. Four people lounged around with none of the appearance of any legitimate work might be getting done. Yasuhara, the only one who was part of his team looked the closest to being busy as he reorganized books on one of the shelves while too closely and quietly talking with one of Madoka's people, a young girl who seemed to be about his age with pigtails. Never trust a girl with pigtails. That was gene's rule. Well it was actually never trust a girl over 13 with pigtails but Naru just dismissed them all.

"Yasuhara" the boys head went straight up banging into the shelf.

"Boss!" his exclamation a bit too loud.

"Grab your laptop, we have some research to do." Naru turned and walked out of the office before any would question him. Yasuhara quickly shoved the books onto the shelf and rushed over to his desk pulling out wires and jamming the laptop into his bag as he watched the door close behind his boss.

"What's up with him?" the girl chomped on her gum.

"Workaholic." He shrugged and hurried out the door. "Coming Boss!"

A few steps outside the office he almost ran into Naru who leaned against the wall waiting for the part time researcher.

"Where is there a quiet place with good tea?" Naru asked then eyed Yasuhara's laptop, "With internet you can access."

"Well there is a little cafe around the corner. They have private booths for an extra fee but it is a bit…" Yasuhara let his words drift off as he pulled on his collar. "Probably not the best place for work. Lrt me think." He paused, rearranging his laptop in his bag and zipping it closed. "I know!" he said as the thought struck him. "The tea shop where Mai worked when you left Japan, it isn't much but good tea and quiet."

Naru started walking, he knew the café. If the office was a little quieter he might have thought of it himself. Yasuhara jogged to catch up. "Hey what's this all about?"

"The office is not conducive to getting work done."

"Yeah, too many distractions."

"Don't trust girls with pigtails."

Yasuhara stopped in his tracks. "What?" Naru kept walking. "Hey wait up!" he began running again. "Why are you running like a bat out of hell away from your office?"

Naru stopped. Yasuhara stopped just before running into him. "Would you stop doing that!"

"Never trust a girl over thirteen with pigtails."

"I hear you there," Yasuhara shrugged his backpack on his shoulders. "That girl seems more intent on finding my secrets than she does about anything else. Don't worry I am not interested in her."

Naru snorted and started walking at a normal pace.

"I was just trying to get some information about Lin from her. She is part of the investigating team."

"A minion."

"But she has access to the files and all that Madoka is doing."

"Madoka has been investigating Teams since before I was adopted. One of her main skills is researching people and knowing how to get information from them. That girl has been her protégé since she outgrew her psychic abilities. I think 8 years now."

"I thought Madoka was just a researcher."

"Dual titles. Lead research analyst and Internal reviews. Only once or twice a year is she called out to research a team but when she gets her teeth into something she gnaws on it until she gets what she wants." Naru gritted his teeth, "She won't go easy on Lin even though she knows him."

"I thought they were partial to each other. I mean, Lin acts… human around her."

"There was something, once, but I'm not sure. Madoka likes Lin because he is a case she can't crack, Lin likes her determination. She flirts with him, I think they like to be around each other but not sure if either one wants to settle down together."

"Ah." Yasuhara nodded and wondered about the change in Naru. He never spoke this much, unless he was explain a case and he never spoke of personal things.

"The point is becareful. When this is over she will just be Madoka. That girl will be gone and BPR will determine whether this team should be broken up or not."

"I didn't think they had control over SPR."

"To a certain degree, they could transfer Lin or myself. Possibly restrict who we can hire or pay."

"Are you threatening me?"

Naru snorted and was relieved to see the café up ahead. He was craving some quiet and some tea. He hoped Yasuhara was the right choice. Madoka who would have been his second choice after Lin had no interest in the case, only in her case. Precisely Lin and Mai. He didn't trust himself not to reveal something if he got caught up in thoughts and he knew Madoka would exploit that. He didn't really trust Yasuhara either talking with that pigtailed girl. He might think he was playing her when she already had him trapped.

When tea had arrived and Naru had savored the first few sips in peace and his headache started receding he began to lay out his plan. "I need someone to replace Lin for this case. He does research both on case histories that we have researched before in the BPR case files and also history on people and places we are researching."

"I've helped Madoka with the case histories but I don't have access to them."

"These are mine." Naru pushed a slip of paper across the table to him. "Research only what is necessary for the case. The log-ins are monitored for unusual activity."

"Understood."

"I need you to listen, take notes on what I find important. Mark things that need to be researched when we return to the office. Try not to interrupt, can you handle that?"

"I'll do my best."

"The case of the concert."

"D'Arata."

Naru glared, "Just type, don't talk." Yasuhara nodded as he raised his hands to the keyboard.

"The case of the concert consists of 2 parts. One the concert backstage party, Two the hospital charity concert. All the previous incidents the concert and hospital have been no closer to each other than 3 miles with a maximum range of 15. Case histories have never before shown evidence of a single paranormal cause to have the ability and strength to create issues more than a mile away." Naru paused studying Yasuhara as he finished typing and look up at the boss. "Research that."

"What part?"

"All of it."

"But?"

"Confirm my statements, if any information is incorrect fix it and inform me if it is pertinent to the case."

"Which part? You gave me three things to check."

"1st Review the case information, confirm two separate incidents. 2nd and 3rd confirm minimum and max distances between all concerts with incidents and the respective hospitals with simulcast charity concert. 4th confirm incidents happened at the same time. 5th confirm in case histories any evidence of paranormal with multiple locations and the maximum distances."

"I'll also research the best remedy for the headache I am going to have."

Naru smirked, "Let me know if you find anything. Lin hasn't." Naru tapped the laptop.

"The chances of a single paranormal cause being able to create these reactions is implausible." He paused and looked at Yasuhara.

"Research that." Naru nodded before he continued.

"Continuing on with the premise of two separate paranormal causes. Case A will be considered the Concert while case B will be considered the charity concert. Focus on Case A. The concerts have not had a common location. Commonalities include people and equipment." He looked at Yasuhara and his empty tea cup. It was going to be a long day.

"Let me guess, research that? All the commonalities between people and equipment?"

"Don't be ridiculous. 95% on the equipment if not more will be the same from one concert to the next and it is very unlikely that anyone would have an inventory of equipment used." He paused, "But that is not a bad idea for the charity concert case considering different hospitals may have different equipment needs." He motioned a waitress over to the table. "Can you keep this tea cup full?"

She nodded and bowed taking the empty cup with her.

"Research the people who were present during all the concerts. There will be quite a bit of overlap but it will eliminate some people. We won't be able to research even half of them before the concert but it is likely there is one that has a lingering spirit attached to them. I doubt that most equipment would have enough emotional attachment to a person for a spirit to attach to them."

"The bigger equipment, stage, speakers and such wouldn't but the guitars, drums and microphones."

"You may have a point." Naru considered, "Research the items of highest emotional attachment. If something new came to be used in the concerts recently or if any items could be eliminated."

Yasuhara groaned holding the sides of his head.

What do you think? Please let me know.
