Author's Note: Here is another chapter after a long wait. To anyone still keeping up with this story I do promise it will be finished one day, but I work a lot, so it takes a very back seat. This chapter is set in one of my favourite places and reflects when I was last there. If you haven't been there, I hope you enjoy reading about our characters' experience. It is just a quick overview so we can keep the story moving.
Chapter 10 – Days 4, 5 and 6
Hermione and Lily had been reminiscing about growing up in the Muggle world and how Muggle's had so many different perceptions of magic. "The most magic Muggle place I ever visited was Disneyland." Lily had told Hermione. Hermione had laughed and agreed. "Looking back after I'd got into Hogwarts, I always wondering if the workers there were squibs." Neville, who had been walking by at the moment enquired. "What's Disneyland."
That discussion had inspired what Lily and Hermione had been working on all morning. They now stood in the Marauder's Time Chamber, with satisfied smirks on their faces. The Time Chamber had been transformed into the magical theme park. Disneyland to be precise. They stood on Main Street, Sleeping Beauty's Castle standing in front of them, Tommorrowland and Adventureland just off to the side. "Shall we test it out?" Lily asked Hermione mischievously. Hermione gave her a wicked grin in response. They walked through their imitation theme park, past the King Arthur Carrousel, Peter Pan's Flight and even the Storybook Land Canal Boats, until they got to the Mad Tea Party. "It's the perfect warm up ride." Hermione declared. They each took a side of the teacup and began whirling around, their hair flying out behind them, their laughter echoing through the empty park.
"I think we better test a faster ride just to make sure were got the mechanics right." Hermione said with mock seriousness as they dismounted their teacup with wide smiles and tangled hair. "I quite agree." Said Lily with equal seriousness. Hermione led the way past Matterhorn Mountain, out of Fantasyland and into Tomorrowland, past Autopia and the Tomorrowland Theatre, until she stood outside Hyperspace Mountain. "I think this will do." She said. The pair hopped onto the roller-coaster. "It's so much nicer without the people." Hermione murmured as they belted themselves in. Lily laughed. Then they were off, twisting amongst the stars, admiring both the scenery and their handiwork. "Those little pureblood minds will be blown." Lily crowed as they reached the end of the ride.
Walking past the Astro Orbitor, they left Tommorrowland behind and stood on Main Street. "So," Lily said as they stood by the statute of Walt Disney and Mickey. "Do you want to round everyone up and show them our genius?" Hermione grinned. "I'll be back in 10."
Stepped outside the Marauder's Time Chamber, Hermione reset the time portal to real time, then amplified her voice to reach every corner of the property. "Everyone report to the main hall now." Once everyone was assembled, Hermione told them she had a surprise for them, then led them through the painting, which now featured Sleeping Beauty's Castle.
Jaws dropped as people entered the magic Disneyland. At the park entrance, Lily had created an animated Mickey and Minnie Mouse; who greeted the awed group and led them to the waiting train. As they travelled around the park, Mickey and Minnie gave an overview of the different attractions and a history of the park. "They sound just like they did on TV." Dean Thomas could be heard loudly whispering as the characters talked.
At the Muggleborn's insistence, the first two rides were the Storybook Land Canal Boats and It's A Small World. At Storybook Land, the Muggleborns and some of the Half-bloods filled in their wizarding friends on their favourite stories as they passed through the mouth of the whale from Pinocchio and passed replicas of fairy tale lands like Snow White's. It's A Small World was a whole different kind of adventure, right from the first glimpse of its gold and white façade with singing toys. Inside, people pointed out depictions of different countries they recognised and talked about different places they'd been. Some of the wizards also got a fun interactive geography lesson. Then people started splitting off into groups and exploring the lands and rides that most interested them, from Critter Country to Adventureland.
Leaving the Time Chamber that night for dinner, everyone chatted about returning to the chamber the next day to finish exploring the park. But the next night they still hadn't finished, so Lily and Hermione's creation got three days of full on action before it was transformed into a new magical adventure.
