Thursday. It was Thursday. Alec was rather infuriated with the day of the week, not that he hates Thursdays or anything. In fact, he happens to enjoy them. Nothing ever happens on Thursdays and there's hardly much work to do at school on these days. It's a day off from all the other stuff going on, plus it's almost the end of the week! That's good, right? Wrong. In this case Alec couldn't be more upset about it being Thursday. What brought him to this? Oh, just the fact that Magnus' birthday is in two days and Alec has absolutely nothing to give him. He doesn't even have any ideas. Except it could be worse. It could Friday, or Saturday! Not Saturday, Alec might have a heart attack if it was Saturday already. Maybe that would be better, after all, it would make the pressure of getting Magnus a gift go away. So, plans for Thursday, figure out Magnus' gift, or just have a heart attack. Yes, that sounds much easier.

Alec arrived home after school Thursday and went straight up to his room. He had managed to avoid Magnus for the most part. Having three classes with him as well as lunch didn't help but he made it work. Alec still had no clue what to give Magnus, well, he did have an idea but he couldn't do that. It was too soon for that and Alec wasn't sure if he's ready. With a sigh Alec laid down on his bed and closed his eyes. He just needed to relax, closing his eyes for a minute wouldn't hurt anything,

"Alec! Wake up!" Alec jerked awake to Isabelle's screaming voice, or maybe it was pillow she hit him with. "What! I'm sleeping." He grumbled, rolling away from her.

She merely rolled her eyes and continued talking, "Magnus' birthday is Saturday-"

Alec sat up slowly and looked at her, "I know. Why are you telling me this?" She sat on his bed and continued on as if he hadn't spoken, "and I haven't seen you go out and get him anything. Which means you don't have a gift for him, do you?"

"Well, no. But I have an idea! Sort of.." Isabelle smiled happily, "Go on then! What's your idea?"

"I was thinking we could throw him a surprise party. He seems to love parties and I thought maybe he would like it.." His sister jumped off the bed, "Say no more, you had me at party. We're going to need decorations and food. We need to invite people soon or no one will show up. This is really short notice Alec, you couldn't have told me this idea sooner?" She huffs out towards the end, hands on her hips.

Alec rolls his eyes, "I just thought of it today. You can invite people right? You know more people than I do.. Plus people actually like you."

"Alec. Shut up, I'm thinking. And people like you!" She walks out of the room and goes to her own room to start planning. He sighed and picked up his phone, it was nine o' clock. He had slept through dinner, well that's nice. No one bother to wake me up. He shook his head and got up, heading down the stairs and to the kitchen to get food. When he walked through into the kitchen he ran into Max.

"Sorry buddy.. Why are you up? You should be sleeping." Max rolled his eyes, "I'm not five Alec."

"Someone is feeling sassy today." Alec stated, looking down at him slightly confused. Max never acted this way, he was always so sweet. "Sorry.. It's just that everyone has been ignoring me lately. And mom and dad hardly ever stop fighting." Max sighed and looked as if he might start crying, "They're going to get a divorce aren't they? They don't love each other anymore."

Alec's heart sunk, he knew his parents weren't doing so well and honestly they probably were going to split up. The only thing really keeping them together is Max, not that anyone told Max that. "They're not going to leave each other Max. Sometimes things get hard, they'll work through it." Alec put his hand on his brothers shoulder gently, "I'm sorry we've all been ignoring you. I'll tell you what, why don't you and I watch a movie? You can pick."

"Really? You mean it? I get to pick?" Max brightened up immediately, "Can we watch Spiderman?"

Alec chuckled and nodded, "Sure we can. Do you think we should have popcorn with our movie?" Max nodded, "I'll make it!" He ran back into the kitchen and started the popcorn as Alec made them each a drink.

"I'm going to take these to the living room and get the movie ready, bring the popcorn when it's ready." Max nodded in response as he got a bowl for the popcorn while Alec went off to the living room. Alec set up the movie and sat on the couch when Max walked in and sat next to him, the popcorn in his lap. Alec pressed play on the remote and before the movie fully started Max spoke, "Thanks for hanging out with me.."

Alec smiled, "Sure thing, buddy." He then lifted a hand and ruffled Max's hair, laughing when his brother started swatting at him. When the movie began to play they both focused on the TV, Max pointing out different things even though Alec had seen the movie a thousand times. When the movie ended Max was asleep and all the popcorn was gone as well as the soda. Alec turned the TV off and took the dirty dishes to the sink before he walks back and crouches next to the couch. Gently, he shakes Max's shoulder, "Buddy.. Wake up, the movies over. It's time for bed."

Max grumbles, "Carry me.."

"Max, you're nine years old. I think you can walk."

Max curled back up and closed his eyes, "I guess I'll just sleep here." Alec shook his head, "Alright, sit up."

Max smiled and sat up, letting Alec lift him, his arms going around his older brothers neck and his head falling to rest on his shoulder. Alec carried him up the stairs and placed him in bed gently, helping to cover him up. He touched his brother's shoulder softly before he walked to the door, stopping when Max said his name. He turned to face him in the doorway, "Yes?"

"I love you.." Alec smiled at him, "I love you too, Max." He said softly before shutting his door silently and going to his own room, falling asleep quickly.

"Alec!" Isabelle ran into Alec's room and proceeded to shake Alec awake. He jerked awake and sat up. "What?" His eyes travelled to the clock on his nightstand, "Shit! We're late for school!" He jumped out of bed and ran to his closet.

"Alec, there's no school today." Isabelle sad calmly, sitting down on his bed. "What?"

"Teacher work day." She waved her hand, bored with the subject. "We need to go shopping and get stuff for the party. Get dressed and meet me downstairs. Quickly" She then got up and walked out the room, humming as she went. Alec stood for a moment before he started to change. He was so worried about Magnus' birthday that he forgot there was no school today.

With a sigh he ran his fingers through his hair after he changed and sat on his bed, pulling his shoes on quickly before bounding down the stairs. "Iz, come on." They both headed out of the house and into Alec's car. Alec headed to the nearest party supply store as Isabelle began to speak.

"That was really sweet, what you did with Max last night."

Alec frowned, "How did you know?"

"I heard you leave your room last night and I got up to talk to you but I saw you and Max talking. He's right, you know. About mom and dad." She looked down at her lap.

"I know but what was I supposed to say? I couldn't tell him that they're going to get a divorce. He was upset enough already." She nodded, "No, I know. I would've said the same thing." Isabelle sighed and then smiled, "It was sweet that you watched a movie with him. I can't believe you carried him to bed!" She laughed, " I almost got out of bed when you passed my room just to take a picture."

Alec rolled his eyes, "he was sleeping. Besides, we haven't really been paying attention to him lately. I felt bad."

"I know.. We should all do something this weekend! On Sunday, You, Jace, Max, and I should all go see a movie. It'll be fun! We can have family time." Alec nodded, "Yeah, I suppose we could do that." He said as he parked the car, getting out quickly. "Alright, what all do we need?"

"Well…" Isabelle launched into all the items they needed and a bunch more that they didn't need. She said it's important to have all this stuff for a party but Alec didn't see the point in it all. Not that he argued it, she would win anyways.

They made their way around the store and bought everything Isabelle said they should and headed out to the car, much too many bags in their arms. They put them all in the trunk and headed off to the next store.

Alec woke up early the next day and for once in his life was excited about a party. He woke Isabelle and Jace and even got Max up to ask if he wanted to help them. The next hour or so was spent with Isabelle and Max setting up decorations and blowing up balloons while Jace set up all the food and Alec put away anything expensive that he didn't want any guests to accidently break.

When they finished the house looked great and Isabelle set up the music so it was ready to play when people started to arrive. Alec thanked them all for helping and then ran up to his room, texting Magnus on his way.

We should hang out today. -A

Soon after he got a reply,

Oh? What were you thinking we should to? -M

I don't know, we could get lunch? Maybe watch a movie at my house? –A

That sounds good! –M

Okay, I'll pick you up around 12. –A

Alright, see you then. –M

Alec grinned happily and set his phone down and changed into the clothes he had set out for the party, with Isabelle's help of course. After he got dressed his phone buzzed again.

Hey Alec? –M

Yeah? –A

Isn't there something you want to tell me? –M

No, I don't think so. –A

Alec joked, it was Jace's idea to act as if he had no clue it was Magnus' birthday. Jace had come up with it so it probably wasn't the best idea but it won't hurt anyone so why not. Plus it'll make the surprise better.

Oh.. Alright, see you later. –M

Alec smiled and set his phone down, waiting bored until he had to go to Magnus'.

Alec knocked on Magnus' door a few minutes before noon, a smile set in place. Magnus answered quickly, "Hey" He said when the door was opened. "Ready to go?"

Magnus nodded and stepped outside, shutting the door behind him. Alec led them to the car and got in, "You can play music if you want."

Magnus silently hooked his phone up to Alec's car, wondering why he hasn't said happy birthday yet, fully convinced that he forgot. Adam Lambert started playing and Magnus looked out the window, only looking to Alec in shook when he was quietly singing along.

"Alexander? Are you singing along to Adam Lambert?"

Alec stuttered and blushed, "Well.. uh.. yeah. Izzy likes him! She plays his music so I know the songs.." Magnus laughed, "You like his music."

Alec only muttered a "shut up" and the rest of the ride was silent, although much more comfortable than it had been before.

They both had lunch at a small café, talking about school among other things. Alec told Magnus what he had done with Max last night and Magnus was happy to hear that Alec was spending time with him. When they had finished Alec paid and they headed to the party. Alec sent Isabelle a quick text before they left the restaurant so she could pause the music and everyone could hide in time.

"What movie are we going to watch?" Magnus asked as they got out of the car. "You can pick. We have a bunch." Alec replied as he opened the door and lead Magnus into the house. As soon as the door shut behind them everyone jumped out and screamed a very loud "Surprise!" causing Magnus to jump back and swear.

Alec laughed as well as some people that heard it. Everyone said happy birthday soon after and then went back to what they were doing before they all had to hide. Isabelle started the music again and waved to Magnus before going to talk to some boy. Magnus turned to Alec with wide eyes. "You didn't forget?"

Alec shook his head and smiled, "Of course I didn't. Happy birthday, Magnus." Magnus beamed and turned back to the party seeing basically the whole school filled Alec's house. He smiled brightly and squeezed Alec's hand quickly, knowing he couldn't do much more with all the people around, and went off to find his friends. Alec watched him go happily and then followed after him.

Later they did presents and cake, everyone sang quite badly to Magnus before he blew out the candles causing him to laugh happily. The party went extremely well and Magnus really enjoyed himself. Hours later slowly people started to leave and eventually it was just Magnus and Alec's family. Alec, Magnus, Isabelle, and Jace we all sitting around the living room when Alec's mother came out of her room and walked down the stairs, "Oh, everyone's left?"

Alec nodded and suddenly became very nervous. His mother looked to Magnus and wished him a happy birthday and after Magnus thanked her Alec spoke. "Mom? Where's dad?"

"Upstairs in our room, why?" She asked confused. Alec stood and walked closer to her.

"I.. um.. Can you go get him? I-I have to.. tell you guys something.." Alec stuttered horribly and he thought he was going to pass out. Everyone looked to Alec in shock and watched as she nodded and went up the stairs. Isabelle quickly picked up on what Alec was about to do and whispered "dear God.." under her breath.

Magnus stood and walked over to his boyfriend, "Alexander… What are you doing?" He asked cautiously.

Alec swallowed and looked at him, seeing his parents heading their way. His heart was pounding and he barely whispered to Magnus, "H-Happy birthday…"

He turned back to his parents when his father spoke, "Alexander? What did you want?"

Alec took a deep breath and looked at them, "I-…" His parents looked at him expectantly and Jace and Isabelle were sitting wide-eyed on the couch. Alec took another breath and glanced to Magnus before he spoke to his parents.

"I'm gay."

A/N: Did you guys like it? I really hope so! My heart is literally beating so fast from writing the ending. Coming out is terrifying oh my god, that feeling of coming out came back while writing this. *takes breath* Anyways! Let me know what you think! I'm thinking about writing this same chapter but in Magnus' POV so you can see what he's thinking with assuming Alec forgot and what he thinks to Alec suddenly coming out to his parents. Let me know if you'd like to read that or if you want me to just continue on to Robert and Maryse's reactions. Thanks for reading!
