40. Phase 2 P26: Birth of a Franchise

Date: March 20, 1954

Location: Japan

Ishiro Honda, Eiji Tsuburaya, Tomoyuki Tanaka, and Akira Ifukube all head out to an old island in their native japan. The island is known for their many myths. The purpose of this trip is to come up with an idea for a new movie and a great monster for said movie.

Ishiro:

Okay so we have the basic idea. A giant creature attacking Tokyo. It's been affected by nuclear testing that just happened.

Eiji:

So what should it look like? A sea creature?

Tomoyuki:

No we're thinking of something reptilian. But what to model it from is the question.

The four men are interrupted from their work by a massive roar followed by loud banging.

Akira:

What was that?

The four men quickly rush outside and see a creature walking onto the island. The creature is tall and reptilian. Godzilla lets out a low growl as he walks across the island. The village he's walking through is unintentionally destroyed. The four men stare at each other in sheer horror, as the creature returns to the water.

Akira:

Gentlemen, we have our monster.
