"Honestly Tom, I'll be fine," I said convincingly while I absently played with the hem of my corporate pen skirt. I looked at him in the driver's seat. He held a blank face as he parked the car into a spot. "Really," I said.

"I know you don't want me to babysit you which I'm not by the way," he pointed at me with his long, thin index finger.

We were in the car park of my workplace. Today was my first day back at work which I was very anxious about. Although the lady at the reception said that they will start off slow and give me small tasks that I use to do, it was still nerve-racking to think that I use to work here and I cannot remember a thing about it. I have spent the entire weekend attempting to surf the internet to find out what an assistant editor's job description was and also researched about the magazine – which I found a lot of magazine issues in my bedroom that I supposedly worked on.

"Just let me walk you up to your office and join you in the meeting with the other staff. I know the way to your office because I have been there a couple of times," Tom said.

I sighed; I was not going to win this round. "Fine, I just don't want all the attention on me," I paused and frowned. "I mean, you. Imagine how they would feel like if you just walked in!"

"The staff in your area play pretty calm around me, they always did when I was around though."

"Oh my god!" a high pitched scream echoed from behind me. "Tom Hiddleston is here?!"

I whirled around to find the owner of the feminine screech. It belonged to a short, blonde woman that was probably in her late teens. She was already jogging to where Tom and I were standing in the middle of the long corridor.

"Okay, maybe I was wrong," Tom murmured to me before smiling at the woman.

"Hi! Oh wow! I am your biggest fan!" the blonde woman approached us with eyes wide as pans as she beamed at Tom. "I'm an intern here! I just started last week and I did not think that I would see …" she panted. "Sorry, I'm so shocked to see-,"

Tom chuckled calmly, "What's your name?"

Her big brown eyes probably grew a size bigger, "Sha-Shanai."

"Hi Shanai, nice to meet you," he stretched out his arm to shake her hand which she gladly took.

"It's really great to finally meet you!" she grinned. "Are you to be interviewed? Is that why you're here?"

"No, actually," his hand crept behind me to my waist. "I'm just escorting Lara here to work," he pulled me beside him and our hips touched in one swift movement.

I think my eyes were as wide as Shanai's.

"Oh, hi Lara! I'm sorry about the accident. It's so lovely for Tom to be a friend and help you out with all that's going on," she smiled sweetly, maybe a little too sweetly.

"Boyfriend," the word slipped out of my mouth like poison.

"Sorry?"

"He's my boyfriend," the annoyance was clear in my voice.

"Oh," her smile was wiped off her face. "Right. My mistake," she showed a tight smile. "It was very lovely to meet you though," she turned to Tom. She continued to ignore my existence and asked for a hug and photograph with him.

It was quick but that moment felt like an eternity for the stupid fan to leave him alone. After she got what she wanted – the hug and photograph – she gave me one last look at me before hurrying off.

I let go of the breath that I have not realised that I was holding. My mind rebooted itself as if it somehow let my subconscious mind have the control during that very short conversation with the fan.

"Right this way to your office," Tom broke my trance and led me to the closest door to us. Apparently we have already arrived to my office.

Without saying a word, he opened the door that was labelled with my name as the Assistant Editor. I followed him inside and he shut the door behind me. I was about to make my way to the large desk that was placed at the back of the room when Tom stopped me by grabbing my uninjured arm and whirled me to him so that I was facing him.

He leaned onto the door behind him and still had his hand grasping onto my arm. He smiled but his eyes were closed doors looking at me.

"What?" I dared to ask.

He sighed and glanced at a spot in my office before glancing back at me. "I apologise for what I'm about to do."

"Wha-," I started to say but my words were muffled by his lips.

It was a quick kiss and I could not take in the feel of his lips against mine from the shock and disorientation of what was happening. His hand was still holding onto my arm but his other hand was placed on my cheek. The moment ended as soon as it began and his lips left mine.

His face was so close I could feel his warm breath and his gray eyes were glued to mine. Everything was still except his hand that slid to my hair and pushed it behind my ear. He was staring at me so intently, as if I was the most precious person, like he has finally had a chance to hold the book he's always wanted to read.

Unintentionally I glanced down to his lips that were slightly parted. Did they just touch my lips? Did he actually kiss me? Did I like it? I honestly was not sure. This moment felt surreal as if I'm in a dream.

"I'm sorry, I was completely shocked with you referencing me as your boyfriend and… well, I…," he sighed and ran his fingers through my hair.

I watched him in a daze as he knitted his eyebrows becoming deeply focused on my hair. The frustration I felt before outside of my office subsided completely from seeing the side of Tom I have never seen before. His thumb started to draw small circles on my back. I had no realised that his hand had travelled from my arm to my back.

We just stood at the door of my office with torsos grazing and our breaths shallow. My eyesight was completely engulfed by Tom's presence.

"Is this how we're usually like?" I broke the silence.

He smiled but his eyes never left my hair as he stroked it but finally nodded as a response.

It was a nice feeling to be physically close to someone. Feeling the heat vibrating from Tom's chest caused me to realise that I would never need a heater for Tom's body temperature was enough to keep warm – that was if we were physically intact at all times. I smiled, I did not mind that.

My eyes went back to his lips and I pondered about what was reality. Just seeing Tom like this, acting like a teenager who just had his first kiss was not the Tom that I was use to. Maybe this was a dream or a daydream. Maybe right now I was in Tom's car travelling to work and having that same argument or whether he should escort me to work and I must have zoned out and let my super ego visualise a scene of my hidden desires.

This definitely had to be a dream. That kiss was not real; otherwise I would have felt everything. I would have felt every burning touch.

"I'm sorry," I said which caused Tom to sharply move his gaze to me. "I just…" need to kiss you again… I wanted to say but my actions seem to move more swiftly than my words.

I let my lips crash against his and shut my eyes so tight that white spots started to appear. I paid no attention to that but only the feel of his lips. I wanted this kiss to last longer than the previous kiss. It seemed like Tom understood my actions and moved his lips against mine. I responded similarly and wrapped my arms around his neck letting my injured arm hang loosely. Both his arms were wrapped tightly around my waist as if to cover every square inch of our bodies as we can.

Our kiss became deeper and our hands became more confident and began to roam places we were afraid to roam. Tom demonstrated that he knew exactly what made me tick with his skilled hands. His hand hovered over my chest as if it was hesitating – as if he was hesitating. I was about to crash towards his hand to close the gap when my office door knocked.

We both separated and froze whilst staring at each other in a daze. Tom was the first to recover and ran his fingers through my hair to fix it and straighten my blazer. I took that as my queue to push Tom's hair back to help him look presentable. No words were spoken and we avoided eye contact.

Once we finished fidgeting with our appearances, Tom opened my office door.

"Hi there Sue," he greeted a woman that looked to be in her early thirties.

"Hi there Tom! It's been awhile," the cheerful woman shook his hand and stepped into my office.

"It really has!" he grinned.

"Hi Lara," Sue greeted me and shook my hand. "I'm Sue, I work with you in the editing process of our magazine."

"Hi, I apologise for taking a lot of time off work," I told her. I was not surprise precisely how long but my guess was probably since the accident which would have been a month or so.

"Nonsense! It was all an accident! I'm here to help you get back to what you were so good at!"

"Well, this is my queue to leave," Tom announced.

"Oh, you're leaving so soon?" Sue asked.

"Yes, I am a busy man Sue but I will be back to escort this lovely woman back home," he gestured to me with a smile.

"Alright, you go on then. I think Lara and I have a lot to catch up on!" Sue laughed.

I tried to let out a convincing laugh to match theirs. I assumed that Tom was going to keep me company throughout today, he was asking me to keep him around today. I was not questioning why the sudden decision to leave me alone occurred because I knew it was from my actions. I probably should not have made a move and played with his feelings because I was not certain of what I felt for him. I actually was not sure what made me do what I did.

I actually wrote this chapter last week and only had the time to update today because I broke my leg & underwent surgery so I was sleeping ALL THE TIME.

I'm bedridden for a few weeks which means more chapters for you while I recover.

I hope this sudden (should I even say sudden?) romance was placed smoothly into the story and that they both have no lost their character too much.

Thank you for the lovely reviews and the fav/follows this story is getting! I really do appreciate it!
