( Battle of the Daedalus Pt.2)
(U.S.A.F. Daedalus, 10 minutes eirlier...)
If there was one thing Sailor Star Fighter and her team had to admit, it was that General O'Neill's men were well trained and disciplined when the situation called for it. McKenzie and two other airmen had taken point with their weapons drawn, while the Starlights, Kakyuu and Nyanko walked close behind.
Every so often the group could hear the warship's rail guns open up in short burst, as they were near one of the gun mounts. For the Starlights and their princess, it was a sound which was all too familiar. As they could remember hearing similar burst when the palace guards attempted to to drive off Galaxia's minions during their planet's final hours. They just hoped that today would not see a repeat in history.
The group soon made it to Deck 4, which was used basically for storage on the Daedalus, as it was here the battle cruiser would store what they needed for long term deployments in deep space. But today the area was largely empty, save for a few large containers and some equipment with was left on board when the vessel was launched from Area 51.
"She's close..." Nyanko spoke, a hint of fear in her voice. She knew just how dangerous the Twins could be, as she had seen just how ruthless they were when they found their targets. "I can feel it."
"Well now, Nyanko... I didn't realize that you felt so close to us!" a new voice screamed out, just as a beam of energy lanced out and stuck one of the airmen who was standing next to her. Said beam going right through the unfortunate man, before he fell to the floor motionless. Almost immediately, the the remainder of the security team began to open fire in the direction of the attack, but the evil senshi had already vanished.
"He's dead." McKenzie announced, as he checked for a pulse on the fallen airman.
"We need to stop Galaxia!" Nyanko pleaded to her former team mate. "She's destroyed too many lives and she needs to be stopped before more innocent people are hurt!"
"Galaxia is gonna save the universe!" Lethe shot back, as she fired another beam of energy at the raven haired woman. But Nyanko was able to roll out of the way, just as the security team returned fire. But once again, Lethe was able to dodge the attack. "She's gonna remake the Galaxy and mage it where pain and suffering would never exist."
"All the while, causing the very same pain and suffering she claims she will remove in her new universe." Kakyuu replied, a mix of anger and sadness in her voice as she spoke. The images of her world burning due to Galaxia's attack, were still fresh in her mind. "You're no better than the evils your master claims to be saving the universe from!"
Unfortunately for the princess, her words of logic had no effect on the now angered senshi. As Lethe suddenly appeared behind the young woman and for a moment it looked as if she would strike the young woman down. But Lethe's attack was soundly defeated as a single gun shot which rang through the corridor. The nine millimeter round managing to graze the would be attacker on her shoulder, causing Lethe howl in pain and withdraw once again into the shadows.
Meanwhile, the owner of said weapon just stood there in place, her yellow tinted eyes still wide as the realization of what she had just done began to sink in. Nyanko could not believe that she had just shot at one of Galaxia's deadliest assassins, let alone wound her. She took some heavy breaths before she asked, "Are you alright, Kakyuu?"
"I... I am. Thank you." the royal replied. "Are you alright?"
"I... think so." Nyanko replied, as she slowly lowered her weapon. "Did I hit her?"
"I think you did..." Star Healer answered, as she noticed some minor blood spots on her princess' shirt. But thought it was best not to point that fact out for the moment. "Where is she?"
"RIGHT HERE!" Lethe screamed out, as the evil senshi shot out from the shadows and attacked the Starlight. But no sooner had she struck the young woman down, Lethe soon turned her attention to another Airman and slammed into him with such force, he was knocked unconscious when he struck the bulk head. But her assault was soon greeted with several blast from McKenzie's shot gun in rapid succession. The heavy slug shooting through the air at lighting speed, but their target was able to dodge all of them and shot another beam of energy at the man.
McKenzie was able to see the attack coming and dodged the lethal beam by inches, but Lethe was far from finished. As she began to shoot out more beams of energy at that group, forcing them back from where they came.
"You will not stop our Master!" the enraged senshi roared out, as she continued her attacks. "I will kill all of you!"
"We don't have to do this!" Kakyuu pleaded once again, but her worlds fell of deaf ears. As Lethe showed no signs of letting up.
"Is there any way we can stop her?" Star Healer asked Nyanko, as the two of them hid behind a container. The the raven haired woman just shook her head as she replied, "I have never heard of anyone being able to escape either one of them. Once the assassin twins are sent after you, there is no escaping them."
"FOUND YOU!" an demonic voice suddenly screeched, as the two women soon found themselves in the cross hairs of their tormentor. But just as it looked as if the assassin would have claimed two more victims, Lethe's face went blank as if all the rage within her had suddenly been trained out of her.
"Help me, Lethe! Help me!"
It was a voice, her twin sister's voice. She was in pain, no. she was dying, actually dying. Her twin sister dying and Lethe could feel the fear her sibling felt at that very moment. But then came a feeling the evil senshi never expected. Slowly a sense of emptiness began to creep into her, it felt as if a piece of her being had begun to disappear and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
"Lethe! Help ME! Lethe...!"
It was then at that moment that Lethe realized that she could not hear her sister's voice anymore, it was not long before a sickening realization fell upon her.
"She's dead..." Lethe muttered, her voice now soft as she stared blankly into space. "She's dead..."
"What's going on with her?" McKenzie asked, as he and everyone else there were confused by the Senshi before them.
"You killed her..." Lethe suddenly spoke up, her voice was emotionless but still had an eerie chill to it as she spoke. "You killed her..!"
"What?" the Airman asked, just as he saw the now disturbed woman turn to face him.
"You killed my SISTER!" Lethe bellowed in rage, as she suddenly began to charge at the man with a speed that was inhuman. Large, healthy looking blades suddenly materializing in her hands as she ran. "YOU KILLED MY SISTER!"
"What the hell?" McKenzie exclaimed, as he soon found himself just inches from being sliced by the enraged woman. At one point using his shot gun to block Lethe's deadly blows.
"Star... Sensitive... INFERNO!" Sailor Star Healer cried out, just as a bolt of energy lashed out from her position and struck Sailor Lethe. This gave the embattled airman a chance to escape, but it did little to stop the evil Senshi, as she soon focused her attention at her would be attacker. It was at this point that the Starlights had regrouped and began to lash out at the attacker...
"Star... Gentle Uterus!"
"Star... Serious Laser!"
Both women's voices echoed as their combined attacks raced towards Lethe, but some how the woman was able to dodge their attacks with ease and tackle all three senshi to the ground in quick succession. But no sooner than she did, Lethe's actions were met with a volley of weapons fire from the security team. But Lethe was not even phased by this assault, as she soon attacked them and managed to drop two more men with her blades.
It was at that point that her now glowing eyes caught sight of her former teammate trying to help one of the downed men. "YOU!" Lethe roared, just as she dove towards Nyanko and pinned her against the bulkhead. "How dare you defy our master!" Lethe growled, as she held Nyanko by the neck. The poor woman gasping for air, as the evil senshi slowly tightened her grasp.
"Hold your Fire!" McKenzie yelled out, as she saw just how close Lethe was to Nyanko.
"S.. she's not my master!" Nyanko managed to gasp out it defiance. "She's... the real monster!"
"Lies!" Lethe shot back, as she slammed Nyanko into the bulkhead and tightened her grip ever more. "Galaxia is going to save the universe!"
"No!" Nyanko snapped back. "She's destroying it, and she's using you to do so! She's... using us to do it!"
"And so what if everything is Destroyed?" Lethe replied in a cold manner. "What has the Universe has ever done for us? Their's nothing but hate and evil that exist! Galaxia is trying to but an end to all of it!"
"By killing innocent people?" Nyanko replied, still struggling against her captor's grip. "How can anyone be saving the universe, all the while killing the very same population its trying to save?"
Lethe but this point was beyond reason, as she roared in anger, before sending Nyanko flying across the room and into McKenzie. Sending both individuals tumbling, but in doing so, Lethe had opened her self up to attack by the remaining security team. Who proceeded to open up with their weapons.
"Star Serious LASER!"
"Star Senitive INFERNO!"
"Star Gentle UTERUS!"
The three Starlights joined in on the assault, having recovered from Lethe's attack and were now committed to fighting off the now deranged senshi. But at this point Lethe was nothing more than a mass of rage and malice, she was beyond reason and possibly even beyond redemption. She was about to stike once with what would have most likely been the killer blow for everyone there, but in that moment, the Starlight's combined attacks made contact with Lethe. What happened next, no one saw coming.
Though the Daedalus was built with the intent of being able to take a hit, the Starlight's attack proved to be too much for the vessel's interior. The resulting blast caused an explosion which not only managed to dispose of Sailor Lethe, but cracked a massive hole in the cruiser's hull. Almost immediatey the atmostphere began to be vented into space, sending the bodies of the dead airmen flying through the new opening.
Words did not need to be said at this point, as everyone who was able to some how managed to exit the storage room before the doors automatically slammed shut.
"Is everyone... alright?" McKenzie asked out loud, as he gasped for breath. Everyone else just noodded and groaned in reply, as thay all leaned heavily against the corridor walls. The encounter with Lethe had drained everyone both physically and mentally, but they were the lucky ones and they knew it.
"What just happened in there?" Star Fighter asked Nyanko, as the Starlight was still shaken up by the encounter.
"I... I don't know." Nyanko managed to gasp out, her neck still sore and bruised. "I've never seen her or her sister act that way."
"Think that the others may have... taken care of her sister on their end?" McKenzie asked, choosing his words carefully as he spoke.
"Those two were very close." Nyanko replied. "I would not be surprised if that was the reason for Lethe's sudden insanity."
"Is everyone alright?" a new voice suddenly asked, as the Starlights and everyone saw Sailor Moon and her group approach them. "What happened?"
"We were attacked." Kakyuu replied, as she got up to speak with her counterpart. "We tried to talk to her, but we were forced to kill her."
"'I'm afraid that was the case with us as well." Mars replied, as she came up beside Moon. "Morrison was forced to kill our attacker as well."
"Thy were deeply loyal to Galaxia." Nyanko commented. "I just didn't realize just how loyal they were until today."
"We should probably contact the Gen-" Morrison began to say, but was cut off by a bright flash of light which blinded every one there.
When the light finally faded, Kakyuu's eyes fell upon a sight which shook her to her very core. A sight she had hoped to never see...
"Well, well well..." Galaxia said in an almost teasing manner. "So this is the legendary Tau'ri I have heard so much about. I must say, I am most impressed that you were able to dispose of my minions so easily."
Suddenly, Galaxia waved her hand and sent a wall of energy towards the group. Sending everyone flying back and landing with a loud thud. "You have earned quite the reputation for yourselves, giving this Galaxy hope. But I'm afraid that I can't allow you to do that anymore."
Her eyes soon fell on both Kakyuu and Sailor Moon, who by this point were together on the floor and looking up at their tormentor. " I must give you credit where its due, princess. You are the first person to have successfully escape my minions, but I am afraid all you did was delay the inevitable."
She then raised the arms to show her gold bracelets, which slowly began to glow. But just as she was about to strike, several gunshots were heard and the evil senshi could feel all but one of them strike her gold armor. The last round managed to hit her right above her elbow, causing the demon shriek in pain as she held her wound. When she turned to see just who her attacker was, there stood SG-1 with the General holding a now smoking 9mm. With her arm in pain and in no position to fight back in her condition, Galaxia fled the Daedalus.
Leaving a stunned group of airmen and senshi behind to lick their wounds...
