Chapter 2:

Lily woke up in the dead of night and heard tapping on the window. She looked out the window and saw a big black owl quietly tapping on the window. Lily opened the window and took the letter that the bird was carrying. Written in large letters was her name. Lily turned the letter over and on the back someone had wrote "Do not tell Potter". She now knew who the letter was from.

Lily tiptoed down stairs and over to the kitchen table, and there she opened the letter. It was messy and had cross outs and smudges all over it.

Lily,

I told you this would happen.

You know if you chose me this wouldn't be happening.

Potter doesn't deserve you. No one does, but I can try to be good enough. Please leave Potter for me.

I have tried to talk the Dark Lord out of killing you. He said he won't as long as you hand over Harry to him. Lily, for me, please listen to him and do as he says. I love you and I don't want anything to happen to you. If you need anything, anything at all do not hesitate to write me.

With love,

Sev

Lily folded the letter back up and stuffed it inside of the envelope. She walked into her bedroom and placed the letter inside her nightstand's drawer. Lily grabbed her wand off of the top of her nightstand and headed to the bathroom. On her way she heard a quiet little voice. She peeked inside of Harry's room and saw him playing with his toys in the crib.

His room was a sunny yellow, the same color that her childhood bedroom was. All round the room was an assortment of different toys; most of them from his godfather Sirius. In the corner, there was a toy broom stick that he had recently received from Sirius, a Zonko building blocks set that could float in the air, and a box of muggle toys that Petunia had given Harry when he was born.

Lily knew she had to do something to save this little boy whom she loved with all her heart. There had to be something that she could do to protect him more. She remembered the last thing that Sev said to her.

"Enchantment's won't hold the Dark Lord off. He will find a way around those I assure you. Harry Potter will die Lily. You will also die if you try to protect him."

Lilly's silent tears fell as she walked away from Harry and back to bed.
