Chapter 16 Good news

Weeks after Shawn found out about Raven and Randy the two still weren't speaking, Shawn for his part tried but Raven wasn't having it, not until he accepted that Randy was her partner, something Shawn wasn't going to do easily. Raven had a rare free day so she spent it pottering around her big two story house which she now shared with Randy. She had left that part out to her father, he was angry enough. Just as Raven had finished pottering around the telephone rung, she wasn't about to answer it but she knew she should, it could of been her boss Bobby.

"Hello"

"Please don't hang up" Shawn pleaded

"I should hang up, what do you want?"

"I wanted to talk to you about Randy"

"Ok hanging up now" "Don't hang up! I was hoping we could act like adults Raven"

She rolled her eyes taking a seat on the couch "I'm listenin"

"How long have you known him, really"

"What does that matter"

"Do you know that he was married before? Do you know he has a child and do you also know that he got divorced because he used his ex as a punching bag"

Raven let out a deep breath trying to stay calm "Yes I know all that just like he knows that I was in a mental asylum and I have a really bad leg and that I was trained by the military to kick ass, you really think I just jumped into this? What kinda girl do you think I am?"

"A stupid one if you think you can change him Raven, let me tell you something, Randy Orton only cares about Randy Orton"
"Three years ago when Jamie got into her accident and before I stepped up and saved her life you said something to me that I will never forget, do you know what that was Dad"

"Raven" "Do you know?"

"I said that you only care about yourself" Shawn said sadly

"Exactly so it looks as though me and Randy have something in common, now I have to go because I have the urge to kill something from just talking to you" Raven hung up before he could protest again.

"Why can't some people just die" Raven snapped at no one flinging the phone down.

"Hopefully you don't mean me" Randy laughed from the door-way.

"Not you, never you" Raven's eyes lit up at the sight of him "You just couldn't help but listen huh?"

"I wanted to know what was said about me, any idea why he hates this so much"

"Apparently you only care about you" Raven answered as he sat down beside her pulling her tiny body into his lap.

"Hey, I care about my daughter too"

"I don't think he was counting her but good to know"

"I suppose he just won't get over it"

"Nah, he'll hang onto this for as long as humanly possible" Raven snuggled into his chest "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure"

"Did you really hit your ex?"

Randy let out a sigh, that was one thing of the past he wanted to forget "I made a mistake, a mistake I only made once but I guess it was enough to stick with you besides I did just catch her having an affair"

"Thats fair" Raven kissed his neck "You know I can still remember meeting you as if it were yesterday. You made the day good"

"Well I'm glad I could do something other than make you wet with my smouldering good looks"

"Yes Cody Rhodes" Raven poked her tongue out at him.

"Hey I am not disfigured!"

"Neither is he remember"

"No he's just insane just like someone else I know"

Raven looked at him "Oh yeah and who would that be and I would be very careful with your answer Randy"

"John's insane, John was who I meant"

"I thought thats what you said" Raven laughed the phone ringing again "Hello?" "Speakin" She was on the phone for several minutes saying things like yes and no and I know the drill. After hanging up she looked at Randy very excited.

"Good news?"

"They have a bed free" Raven squealed "I finally get to have my op"

Randy hugged her tightly "Congrats, so whats the drill chief?"

"I go in tomorrow spend the night then I have my op the day after, I'll ring Bobby soon and tell him the good news and I'll need a few days off but this is so good"

"Damn straight it is" Randy hugged her again, he knew all about her bad leg and how she needed surgery to fix it. She had been on the waiting list for what seemed forever now at last she would be free of worrying about her leg.

"I'll ring Bobby then Jamie"

"You should ring your father too, he has a right to know"

"No he doesn't"

Randy looked at her "Believe me he should know, don't give him another reason to be angry"

"Rand as long as we're together he's gonna be angry"

"So he's gonna be mad awhile then"

"Yeah"
