"Yuki Wake up"
I whimpered, rolling onto my right side then onto my other in contagious cycles.
"Wake up or I'll geta bucket of water!"
The voice was starting to become recognizable... Was it Hikaru? Or my father? Okay, scratch that recognizable thing... I didn't know who the hell was talking.
That's not to say that I didn't oblige by what it was asking and wake up. Because I did. Well, I really had no choice in the matter. Once that freezing cold water was thrown onto me I sat up so quickly that I was worried I'd get whiplash. "THAT'S FREEZING!" I screamed, at the top of my lungs, shooting my head to stare in my friends direction. Of course it was Hikaru! My dad wouldn't dare threaten to spill freezing cold water on me, yet alone actually go through with it. Not unless he had some kind of death wish or something. This girl however, she had no fear of me. Sadly enough... She smirked, throwing the small cup that she had obviously taken from the kitchen downstairs on the floor before plopping onto the bed beside me. I swear, most days the girl was as slow as a turtle but when she had any kind of inspiration it somehow managed to quickly change into race horse. "Yeah, but also really funny." She grinned, throwing her bangs back away from her eyes before staring over at the alarm clock that remained untouched beside my bed, "I set that thing, but it didn't work..." She grumbled, grabbing the horrible mechanicobject that I wish was never invented (My name for an alarm clock) and hitting it off the bed like some kind of primitive cave women. I laughed lightly, standing to my feet with a followed tired yawn and walking to my dresser before realizing I didn't have any of my clothes. In fact, I hadn't even fallen asleep in pajamas last night so I was still wearing my duo of jeans and plaid shirt. "The boys said they'd have the car here by 12," Hikaru stated, causing me to turn and look at her a little oddly. In the small amount of time that we've been here shes become so acquainted with those guys that she started calling them the boys? I think I need to give up on sleeping so much because I was obviously missing out on the whole friendship thing, "And it's currently..." I shifted a little awkwardly before leaning back against the piece of furniture that was meant to hold clothes and watched as she held the clock in front of her face, as if she couldn't read it for afar... I knew it was more for emphasis then anything. But, what I didn't know, was why she was so hyped up and eager for me to get ready for the day. "Twelve-oh-one. So they should be here soon." Throwing the item back onto the counter beside my bed a little too harshly she bounced to her feet and almost threw herself out the for some reason open window. I hadn't opened it last night... But then again, I didn't take the chance to look around and study the dimly lit room either. Taking the intensity of her stare as a sign I walked over to my bed, kiddishly climbed over it, and continued on my way until I was standing right beside her. Leaning a bit as I too tried to see what she was watching.
My dad was standing out on the back porch, laughingas 'the boys' for some reason drove my car out onto the grass. Now, while I would usually say something about the unneeded parking spot I was way too focused on the fact that my car wasn't making any strange noises. The breaks were a bit retarded on it, so even when it wasn't under threat of breaking down the occasional squeaks did make themselves known. Especially when driving on unpaved surfaces. The sound of silence was almost like a miracle. Watching as that familiar Jacob guy jumped out from the drivers seat I had to contain myself from hanging out the window and blowing thankful kisses in his direction. Maybe the hammy-down car my dad gave me wasn't so bad after all? If this guy was as great as a mechanic as the first impression implied, by the end of the summer everything would be running smoothly! "Speak of the devil." I smirked, hitting Hikaru quickly on the back before pushing myself away from the window and turning on my heels to face the door. Hikaru, again way too eager to get outside, grabbed my hand and sped past me and out into the hall, obviously because she was still holding my hand dragging me along with her. "Whoa-wheres the rush!" I gasped, forcing her to take her time down the stairs and eyeing the outfit that she was wearing. How is it that I had nothing while she still had a dress to change into? Especially when I was the only one who managed to snag a bag from the car last night! The fabric was a light shade of blue and other then the darker blue ribbon that tied around the waste it was pretty plain. But, based on her skintone and dark hair, it wasn't exactly plain on her. I knew I would've seen her carrying this in her arms... Or maybe the bag that I had grabbed was hers not mine? Whatever, it was dark, I was tired... I can't be blamed for my own stupidity! Letting go of me once she got to the last step, Hikaru smiled rather cheekily before racing to the back door and hurrying outside, yelling back at me a lazy; 'CMON' before actually disappearing from view. With a huff I took my time to follow, only averting my gaze from my sock covered feet to the door once I got to it. When I reached to open it, I realized that wasn't needed. Because it was already open and none other then Jacob was standing in my way.
"Hey Katrina, have a nice sleep?" He laughed, edging past me and dropping the luggage that he was carrying on the ground. MY LUGGAGE. Trying not to bask in the fact that he was actually able to carry everything inside without at leased a second trip I blinked and kneeled down in front of the first bag, unzipping it and searching through it for appropriate clothes as I tried to come up with a sarcastic response, "As good as a sleep I could have while worrying about you fixing my car." Yep, there it was. I was expecting him to snap back at me for some reason, so when he laughed I was a bit surprised. Grabbing a pair of jean shorts and a plain black t-shirt I stood back to my feet and circled around the overly buff teen to make my way to the bathroom that was literally under the stairs. "I'll have you know that... thing, is in way better shape now then it was before." He replied, making his way back to the door leading outside, though casually glancing back with a grin before actually leaving, "You shouldn't doubt my mechanical abilities." And he was gone. I watched until he completely left before walking into the stuffy half bathroom, riding myself of my overused clothes before changing into my newly picked ones, slipping off the socks that I had previously mentioned, and brushing through my hair quickly with a brush that had been left out on the sink. By the way, mechanical abilities? If anything him saying that would make me doubt him more.
Despite the work I had just put into it I ran my fingers and messed my hair up as I walked through the door and outside. Waving a silent good morning to my dad before skipping past the two steps by jumping over them and picking up my pace to reach my vehicle faster. Jacob was currently back in the front seat, while Hikaru sat on the back of it seeming to be caught up in a conversation with Embry who was leaning against it. Man, since when did my car turn into 'the place to be?' "Hey, love birds, go grab a chair or something." I yelled, reaching over as I walked passed and knocking Hikaru back to the ground. Itlooked like she was going to land perfectly on her feet, but despite that Embry reached out and caught here almost instinctively. Not needed to see her to know that her face was red, and definitely not wanting to stick around for the embarrassed apologies, I finally got to the opened door of the drivers side of the neon and peeked in at what Jacob was doing. Like some kind of toddler he was moving the steering wheel back and forth, and because of this I ended up laughing and thus making myself known. "Just getting a feel for it." He grinned, watching as I trailed my way around the car and got seated beside him in the passenger side. "Do you even have a license?" I questioned, staring over at him doubtfully as I waited for a response. He wasa little taken a back but within seconds he came up with one, "Yeah I do, I'm not that young you know.";"Could havefooled me." I smiled and rested back against the seat as hesnickered at my remark. In truth Jacob looked way older then what he probably was. I mean, what, was all the guys in La Push on steroids or something? All I can say is; I hope not. "You know what, we should go for a drive right now." He argued, reaching over and slamming both our doors closed. I bit my bottom lip a little nervously as two other slams followed the recently made ones. Hikaru of course jumped at the thought of a 'car ride' and I guessed Embry was just going along with it to be around her. I swear, as human as she was, sometimes she could remind me of a trained puppy. One of her many charms I suppose. "Yeah, we can stop by the cliff for a little while." Embry spoke, I had to blink a bit in surprise. I only actually herd his voice once, and that was a word... Or, two... Whose really counting anyway? "Why, whose at the cliff?" Hikaru spoke up, almost on Que to follow that of what I guessed to be her boyfriend. I too was eager, but not as talkative as her to just blurt out a question that was probably going to be answered with or without it.
Starting the car, and slowly beginning to drive around the small cottage like house, Jacob finally opened his mouth to speak, the sound of the rocky pavement adding to the casual like feel of his voice; "Sam, Quill, Seth, and Paul..."
No...PAUL? Well, good thing were going to a cliff... I might just have to throw him off it.
