"Why didn't anyone grab her?";
"Shes quick! And how were we supposed to know she'd jump off after you?"
I could feel hands place themselves to the middle of my chest, applying pressure and then relaxing again in a continuous rhythm. My head was spinning. I knew I was awake yet I couldn't move any part of my body, whether it be opening my eyes to see the people crowded around me, or my lips to tell then I was alright. Was I... dieing?
Suddenly the pounding on my chest came to an abrupt stop, and for a moment I thought whoever was trying to revive me gave up. But that moment ended much to soon as my mouth was met by someone else's. Had it not been for the fact that my nose was being plugged at the same time, which ultimately ruined the event, I'm sure that not even my comatose state could hide the red fact that would have more then likely appeared.
As if the touch of the mans lips weren't enough to drive me crazy, whoever it was suddenly spread mine apart, making for easy access...
I bolted up right, ending what was going on instantly and in the process butting foreheads with my supposed savior, who then barked in pain and guessing from the noises herd, continued pacing backwards to a safe distance.
"Katrina, thank god!" A voice that I recognized to be Hikaru yelled, just as she fell to her knees beside me. I flinched slightly as I opened my eyes, waiting for all of those dots to disappear before even attempting to focus my gaze on something.
"Who was that?" I asked, leaning back against my friend for support once I was able to regain my composure. "Who was the bastard that stole my first kiss?" My voice was low, barely even a whisper so Hikaru would be the only one to have herd it. Despite that though, from the corner of my eye I couldn't help but notice everyone else's bodies tense.
Why did I have a bad feeling?
"It was CPR." Paul stated, stepping forward, not worried at all when he definitely should have been. "You can't really count it as a kiss..." I gasped, a bit dramatically and, with the help of a reluctant Hikaru, stood to my feet. "I'm pretty sure whatever that was, was not CPR." I argued, edging closer and causing the others expressions to grow worse. I mean, sure, the whole pushing on my chest thing was part of the process, but that kiss was just a little too steamy... If it was CPR then why did I get butterflies?
I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice him walk closer toward me. So, once my attention turned, I was staring up at him wide-eyed. "You could have died, I was just trying to-" A clapping like sound echoed throughout the area as my hand made contact with his cheek. And, while I thought he would be the one doubling back in pain, it was the other way around. I stumbled away, holding my hand tightly with the other while yelping out a curse. "Are you alright!-";"I'm going home!" I exclaimed, cutting Hikarus sentence short and causing Embry to walk up protectively to her side. Not that I was a threat of course, because I definitely wasn't going to attack her.
Still holding my wounded hand, I stared back at Paul, who was clearly confused about what to do whilst also looking worried. I wanted to ask if he was made out of some kind of robotic material but in the fit of anger that I was currently in I didn't dare.
"I'm going home." I repeated, turning on my heels and dizzily staring in the direction of the paved road. The hot sand was relaxing against my bare feet, but not so much once I realized I'd have to walk over stones in this state. Almost as if on que I was swept up into someones arms.
Expecting the unknown person to be Paul I raised my good hand into a fist, stupidly preparing myself to possibly break another body part, though stopping myself as I looked up and recognized the person to be Jacob. "I'll take you home." He smiled, eyeing my sorry excuse for a weapon until I rested it back on my stomach.
With a nod of approval Jacob headed off the beach, away from everyone. Curiously I peeked back towards the group, watching an irritated Paul stare after us, breathing in and out heavily, before running off and disappearing into the surrounding forestry.
