Chapter 1: Everyone is (Not) Here
"Don't let a single one get away!" Fox raises his blaster, taking aim at a brilliant sun, surrounded by six wings of light and an army of Master Hands.
All the Smashers, united into a single front, are standing together on the cliff and gazing at their enemy. Allies ready to protect one another, both lifelong friends and enemies, standing together to combat this unknown foe that appeared suddenly after Master Hand and Crazy Hand had vanished without a trace.
Something's wrong.
Marth quickly summarizes the situation. "We'll each need to take down about 10."
"Stow your fear. It's now or never," Princess Zelda retorts as she steps forward, the Triforce of Wisdom glowing on the back of her hand.
"We'll win this. I know we will!" Pit cries out, his voice brimming with a confidence that raises the spirits of all the Smashers. They have all faced worse opponents, their victory is assured.
This isn't right.
The Smashers' faith in their victory is sorely misplaced.
Slowly, the "glove" on each Master Hand begins to peel and flake off, revealing a brilliant blue energy underneath. Condensing, that energy begins to flow into the winged light that stares down the Smashers. As more and more energy is collected, the winged sun begins to shine a blinding light.
No, no no no no!
"A vision!" Shulk's eyes flash blue as the Monado allows a glimpse into the future.
Is it a glimpse of hope or of despair?
The Homs turns around, searching for pink amidst the crowd of Smashers. Then he spots the one in the vision. Before Shulk could let out a warning, one last attempt to change the future, the vision came to be.
Please stop! Just stop!
The winged sun collapses, forming a black hole that erupts into numerous streams of light.
Each of them weaving through the air at blindingly fast speeds.
Each and every beam out of an infinite number, shooting toward the Smashers.
The first is Link. Deflecting several smaller beams off his shield and the Master Sword, his equipment can only offer so much defense. The beams overwhelm him, reducing him to dust.
Samus tries to fend off the light, taking aim and firing. She is the next one to be consumed.
Zelda and Mewtwo attempt to defend themselves, utilizing Nayru's Love and Confusion respectively. Normally moves that reflect projectiles, they stop the beams of light for exactly 0 seconds. The princess and Pokemon are the next to be turned to dust.
The only option at this point is clear.
Run.
Why! Why is this happening!
Pikachu dashes away on all fours but it's clear that the electric mouse will not be able to escape. Are any of them capable of escaping?
Sonic slows down, stretching a hand out to the mouse. Reaching out with straining fingers, Sonic manages to grab onto Pikachu's paw. Turning his attention forward in order to accelerate to top speed, Sonic is greeted by several beams of light that consume him and Pikachu.
Bayonetta fires several bullets, bursting into a swarm of bats to evade several beams. Reforming in the air, the Umbra Witch is caught off-guard as a beam catches her from behind.
"Guys! Triple Finish!" Red the Pokemon Trainer yells to his pokemon, trying one last, futile attempt at resistance. Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard let out their Final Smash, with Bowser lending his flame breath to the attack.
As previously stated, the attempt is futile as they are turned to dust.
"Papa?" Bowser Jr. watches his father's final moments, tears welling in the young koopa's eyes. The tears land on the barren ground as Bowser Jr. suffers the same fate as his father.
Captain Falcon is caught before he can even land in the cockpit of his beloved Blue Falcon.
Lucario and Greninja both attempt to evade the light. They can only dodge so many times before tiring.
The Inklings paint the ground to hide in the ink. Their attempt at stealth is poor as even the ground the ink is on is destroyed.
Falco learns the hard way that his Arwing is not faster as the machine is caught.
Pit and Dark Pit, their wings illuminated with the Power of Flight, soar through.
"You just had to say it Pitstain, didn't you!" Dark Pit snarks.
Not even the power of a goddess can defend against the winged sun's light. Palutena's barrier is useless and the goddess falls next.
With the goddess gone, the angels' wings no longer glow as Pit and Dark Pit fall. The light catches them.
For some reason, the light attacks a cardboard box and the contents are turned to dust as well. Who left that there?
Diddy Kong and Rosalina try to fly away but fail.
Villager and Duck Hunt panic while Wii Fit Trainer calms themself with yoga. All three vanish next.
One by one, the Smashers all find themselves consumed by the light. Except one, lone survivor.
Soaring on his warp star, Kirby has not fallen victim to the light. Zig-zagging through the air, the pink puffball finds himself being pursued by several beams. Pushing the warp star to its utmost limits, he can barely stay ahead of the dangerous light.
Weaving through the air, dodging the beams of light that have claimed his friends, Kirby just needs a little more. A little more speed.
Just.
A.
Little.
Mo-
Kirby's thoughts are cut off.
A beam of light cuts off Kirby's path. Going too fast and with too many beams of light surrounding him, the puffball can't turn quick enough. The lone Smasher flies into the beam of light, his form crumbling into dust.
It wasn't supposed to go like this.
The beams of light do not stop at the Smashers. Continuing to consume more and more, the light envelopes the world.
And then another world. And another. And another. Until eventually, the entire multiverse is consumed.
Galeem, the Lord of Light, is victorious over the Smashers. Now, they are able to remake the multiverse however it chooses.
Hope is gone and all is lost.
No.
