Chapter 1: A schooltrip to No(where)

"So, what do you know about Norway?" Miss Bustier asked with soft amusement.

"It's freezing cold over there, the country is covered in snow all year, and there are polar bears walking in the streets." Chloé's voice rang through the classroom.

The class burst out laughing and Sabrina and Chloé groaned. "It's true, there are polar bears walking in the streets!" Chloé protested. "I have seen pictures, they have warning signs in the streets over there that says "do not feed the polar bears!""

The class burst out laughing again, including Sabrina, who was covering her face with her hands. Sabrina was laughing so hard that tears had started to form in her eyes. She dried one of them away, but her laughter came to a halt when her eyes met Chloé's icy gaze.

"I've heard that they have amazing seafood over there!" Lila declared.

"Attention class!" Miss Bustier clapped her hands to regain her students attention. It was the last day of the term, just after lunch, so one could only imagine how the students were behaving before months of vacation.

Marinette had zoned out a long time ago, she wasn't paying attention to the class anymore. Something, or rather someone else was occupaying her attention. And that 'someone' was sitting straight in front of her; she could smell the perfume he wore, 'Adrian; the Fragrance.' She let out a heavy sigh.

She was almost drooling when Alya hurridly slapped her arm. "Hey, are you even paying attention?"

"Ow. What was that for?" Marinette groaned.

Alya didn't respond, but tapped on their desk. Marinette sat up with a groan, rubbing her eyes. She took the paper and skimmed it.

Her eyes lit up when she read the words 'school trip'.

"Class, settle down! As I was saying...," Miss Bustier shouted to no avail. The students kept talking as if there were no tomorrow.

Marinette sighed as she glanced around the classroom. No one would listen to miss Bustier, but that was only to be expected. Bustier, while she was an excellent teacher, couldn't yell to save her life. Even one of Marinette's friends, Rose, who was usually soft-spoken, was chatting quite loud with Juleka. Mylène was also sitting with them, chatting about her holiday plans.

Marinette glanced to the back of the classroom where Kim, Ivan and Nathaniel were sitting. Kim of and Ivan were goofing around: throwing papers at the back of Max's head while Nathaniel was deeply immersed in his drawings.

"CLASS, BE QUIET!"

Marinette whipped around in her seat. The shout had come from miss Bustier, funnily enough. The class quieted down immediately, though Marinette figured that they were all freaked out by miss Bustier's tone.

"That's much better," miss Bustier sighed. "So, if you take a look down on your desks now, you'll see that we are going on a school trip!"

Excited whispers broke out among the students. Marinette smiled smiled to herself, thinking that it would just be a small field trip to the Louvre museum or somewhere else within Paris.

"T-tomorrow?" Adrien whispered.

"Yes!" Rose cheered.

"Where are we going?" Sabrina asked.

"I have secured a trip to Norway! We'll stay there for an entire week!"

The entire class went ballistic, except for Chloé. Her face was horrified.

"No way!" She protested. "Why are you all cheering? Didn't you hear what I said about Norway being a freezing hole?" the blonde screamed. "There is no way that I am going to visit the coldest place on earth! And their fashion is horrible. And there is literally nothing to do over there. Nu-huh. Not happening."

"Chloé..,"

"Have you spoken with my father about this? Does he know that you will send us into nowhere? Have you told him that we are going to get eaten alive by the polar bears. The P.O.L.A.R B.E.A.R.S"

"Aww, polar bears." Alya snickered.

"This sucks!" Chloé slammed both her hands into her desk with a loud bang. "Why can't we go to Spain, or Italy?! Warm and exotic countries."

"Chloé," Alya started, "This is great news! We are going somewhere, where we might get eaten by polar bears. Where YOU might get eaten if you do not shut up."

"I WILL contact my father and tell him about this!" She shouted. "For God's sake, do you know what kind of country is? A country of barbarians that have recently knighted a PENGUIN!"

"You might even start an avalanche if you don't stop screaming!" Alya countered.

" I have heard that there are lots of blonde people there. With blue eyes." Rose sighed.

"So, basically Adrien wearing contacts?" Alya laughed.

Chloé's eyes widened. "There's lots of blonde people over there, and they all look like Adrikins? Well, then we MUST go to Norway!"

"I have never been to Norway," Juleka muttered, "I actually feel a bit excited about this."

The entire class went silent, as Juleka didn't appear to be a person who openly talked about what she looked forward to. Mylène offered her a warm smile.

Adrien on the other hand let out a heavy sigh.

"Yeah, Chloé's a bit...," Nino paused when he saw Adrien's expression and offered him a worried glance. "Are you all right?"

"I'm just worried that my father will stop me from going," he paused, "I have fencing lectures and piano lessons this week. My schedule is packed." He added with a sheepish look. "And I had the opportunity to see the world, travel with Lila, but I blew it. I've already been to New York, Shanghai, I doubt my father will allow me to travel to Norway too."

"Man, I really hope he will let you go."

"So, class Please listen. We'll meet up here tomorrow at 8:00 am. Then we'll take the bus to the airport in Paris. From there we'll fly to Copenhagen, change to another flight and then it's a straight shot all the way to Oslo." Ms. Bustier smiled.

Alya raised her hand. "Ms. Bustier... could I be excused? I need to go to the toilet".

"N-now?!"

"Well, yes. I really need to go."

"All right, but be quick!"

"Marinette... you're so silent." Tikki poked her head up through Marinette's purse. "Is there something wrong? Don't you want to go?"

"Of course, I really want to go, but," she sighed. " what if something happens here while we are gone? What if an Akuma attacks? Hawk moth has been really active lately. I just have a bad feeling about this."

"But wouldn't it be nice to take a holiday? You haven't even had a proper holiday in ages."

"Miraculous holders don't get to travel the world and go on holidays. I've already been to New York and Shanghai recently...," she paused. "I don't think I can abandon my duties here at home. Someone needs to look after Paris too. I can go to Norway when I have retired. When I am old, wrinkled and wise."

All of a sudden, Adrien turned his head and smiled at her sheepishly. "Marinette...,"

Her heart soared. Her cheeks grew red. Her palms turned sweat. "Y-yes, Adrien?"

"Who are you talking to?"

Marinette shifted uncomfortably as she looked away. "N-nobody, did you hear me say something? I was just talking to..., m-mysself... YES!"

Adrien looked at her with a confused look on his face, and tilted his head to the side pretending to think. He was about to say something, but announced that class was over, and that everyone was dismissed. Marinette then grabbed her pink bag and nearly ran out of the classroom.

ooo

(Marinette's POV)

"Welcome home, Marinette. I forgot to tell you this earlier, but your mum and I have figured that we could need some help during lunch hour tomorrow. There were more guests today than we expected, and we could really use some help." Her father greeted her when she walked in the door.

"Ah, but I can't. I am going on a field trip with my class tomorrow."

"A field trip huh? within Paris? so you'll be back home in the evening?"

"I'm... gone for a week."

"You'll be gone for 7 days?!" Marinette's mum repeated.

"Yes, our class is going on a trip to Norway."

"NORWAY?!" both her parents said in unison.

"Yes, we're going by plane tomorrow."

None of them responded, only exchanged uneasy glances. Marinette opened her bag and pulled out the paper that she had gotten and handed it to her father with shaking hands.

"So, I'm really sorry but I can't help you." she paused. "I was wondering if you could sign this paper for me, please."

"I guess... tell us about the pastry you find over there! I guess it would be fun to compare what we got compared to them!"

"Have fun, and take lots of pictures. Call us anytime if something happens."

Her parents smiled at her, and she hugged them both in a big embrace. "Thanks, mama, papa! You're the best!"

ooo

(Adrien's POV)

"My final anwer is no," Gabriel told him firmly.

Adrien pouted. "but father, it's a school trip. Everyone else is going."

"You are not everybody else, you're an Agreste. Your schedule is packed this week. When will you practise fencing and play the piano?"

"I...,"

"See, you haven't really planned these things well enough... and why didn't you tell me about this trip earlier?! You say that your bus is leaving tomorrow, but you must have been knowing about this trip for some time." Gabriel sighed. "What business do you have in Norway? you just want to go on this trip because your friends are going. You've had my answer and I won't sign the paper. Now go to your room and practise the piano!"

"I hate you!" Adrien muttered.

"What's that?" Gabriel asked.

"Yes, sir."

"That's what I thought. Now, make sure you practice the piano," With that Gabriel left his son's room.

Plagg flew out of Adrien's shirt, "that was rough, but you don't really hate your father,"

"No, I do. He doesn't care! He never listens to me. He never lets me do what I want to do. All he cares about is himself. I'm just an object to him! I'm not practicing my piano, I'm not staying in this house," Adrien paused. "Plagg, claws out!"
