"I can't believe this is happening." I said to myself as I was riding on a wagon carrying prisoners from a game that I loved. Now I should explain that last night I went to sleep a bit late after grinding out on a modded out version of the re-released Skyrim aka the Anniversary edition that was set on the Anniversary difficulty I felt a bit exhausted, and I decided to go to sleep.
However, now I have woken up to a bitter cold as I find myself on a wagon in the fictional world of Skyrim as I am in the wagon with Ralof, the horse thief and Ulfirc as we are headed over to Helgen for execution. When I woke up it was near a bloody battlefield that nearly made me hurl before I was knocked down from behind and taken prisoner by the Imperials.
Now in all honestly, I mostly tuned out all the noise as I rode on the wagon while looking all around at the cold but beautiful world, I found myself in before I soon saw Helgen in the distance, and I have to say that this city is insanely large compared to its videogame counterpart.
"Sovngarde awaits." Ralof said as the thief started praying to all the gods for help as we soon enter the city and I look out at the various people as well as the large number of imperials and high elves wandering about.
"This is. The end of the line." Ralof said once more as the wagon stopped near a chopping block and my heart started racing because I knew what was coming and everything, I'm feeling is telling me that this isn't a dream and as a result I naturally don't want to die because the reality is that I don't have infinite lives like in the game. I can't save my progress and try again.
I'm pretty fucked right now.
"Captain what should we do? He's not on the list." Hadvar said as I was called up next as Hadvar was holding a letter while talking to the steel-clad Imperial next to him.
"Forget the list. He goes to the block." The captain said back as that pissed me off. This bitch is seriously willing to kill innocent people just because she doesn't want to be inconvenienced with a little paperwork or something.
"Sorry. We'll make sure your remains are sent back to Morrowind." Hadvar said as that confused me a bit but I didn't have time to question him as I was moved over towards the block where everyone heard a massive and earth shaking roar.
"What was that?" A imperial asked.
"Nothing carryon." General Tullius said after he had finished talking down to Ulfric about how a real hero doesn't kill his high king and what not.
Soon enough the priest started her prayer before a brave or stupid Stormcloak basically walked up to the chopping block as he wanted to get the show over with and sure enough his head was rolling on the ground and my anxiety started skyrocketing.
"Next! The Dark Elf!" The imperial captain shouted as she pointed at me before I slowly moved towards the block since running wasn't an option with all of these archers all over the place and soon enough I could feel my heart pounding in my chest after I felt the captains boot on my back as my head was on the chopping block that was sticky with fresh blood.
Luckily or unluckily when the headsmen readied his axe he was stopped as a massive mass of muscle landed on the nearby tower and I knew that this monster was none other than Alduin who is insanely massive as he let out a massive roar that changed the weather and caused everyone to fall to the ground from the shockwave of his Shout as I was knocked onto my back and saw him take to the sky as meteors fell from the clouds and started raining down onto the city.
"Dark Elf! Get up!" Someone shouted as it was hard for me to hear for a moment before I slowly turned over and saw Ralof standing a few steps away from me. "Come on the God's won't give us another chance!" Ralof shouted as I forced myself up to my feet which isn't easy with my hands being bound as I ran up to Ralof and followed him into a nearby tower where I saw other Stormcloaks and Ulfric.
"That was too close." I said as I struggled to breath.
"Calm yourself elf." Ralof said before he grabbed a nearby dagger and cut the bindings off my wrists. "Ulfric is that truly a dragon from the old myths and legends?"
"Legends don't burn down villages." Ulfric said sternly before the tower started to shake. "We need to move! Now!" Ulfric shouted before we started making our move as Ralof and I ran up the tower and just like in the game. Aludin burst through the side of the wall and torched the place as Ralof and I backed up to stay away from the flames before the giant bastard left and we saw three corpses burned to a crips which left an awful smell.
Ralof suggested I jump down to the nearby building and that he would catch up with me after he made sure Ulfric could escape with us and frankly after making it this far I don't feel like I can really say no to a possible exit so I jump and thankfully don't break anything as I make my way from the top floor of the house that lacked a roof, to the bottom where I see Hadvar and a few dozen people hiding behind another building as Aludin released a torrent of flame on the road and torched several other people.
Hadvar looked back at me as if he knew I was there and he spoke clearly and firmly.
"If you want to stay alive then stick close to me prisoner." Hadvar ordered as I stuck close to him as we made our way through the destruction until we came to two different entrances to the same fort where I saw Hadvar run ahead while Ralof was standing guard of one of the entrances.
"Let's go prisoner!" Hadvar shouted as he ran towards the doors to the fort entrance that was farthest away.
"Don't follow him! Come with me instead!" Ralof shouted and despite the fact that he saved me. The choice of who to pick was clear and I made my way over to Hadvar and soon enough we entered the fort and had a small break from the insane battle.
"Damn that was close." Hadvar cursed with a heavy breath. "An actual living dragon has attacked."
"Right now, all that truly matters is that we are alive. So, try not to dwell on it until we get as far away from that dragon as possible." I told him as he looked at me for a moment.
"Your right. Overthinking things won't do us any good right now. Go, check those chests for some equipment. You'll need it." Hadvar said as there are quite a few chests and beds in this room but before I could go and check one of the chests, I saw a Skyrim style game screen appear in front of my eyes.

My brain nearly got fried from the amount of information I was just given, and I felt like I was frozen in place for a moment.
"Don't start spacing out on me know Elf." Hadvar said as he placed a hand on me which shook me from my thoughts.
"Sorry. I guess I'm more rattled than I thought." I told him before I went to one of the wooden chests and opened it to see a full suite of light imperial armor and a wild thought comes to mind as I grab each piece of armor and store it away into my Inventory before I summoned my Inventory screen in front of me and equip the armor and sure enough I am now wearing a full set of the light imperial armor with the helmet included as I also picked up a iron long sword.
"Are you a mage?" Hadvar asked as he looked at me with a bit of a surprised expression on his face.
"Not really. I just know a spell or two." I told him honestly but the thought of being a mage did sound exciting. While I played Skyrim, I always loved magic so now if I really am in the world than I very much want to join the college of Winterhold despite how much I dislike the Aldmeri Dominion getting involved with the school along with Savos Aren who I can't honestly blame for his actions but that still doesn't mean I like him.
"Well just stick close for now." Hadvar said as I held my iron long sword in my right hand since I don't have a scabbard for it as we soon walk down the nearby hallway and come across the entrance of another room where we hear voices.
"Stormcloaks." Hadvar said as he stopped in front of the lever that opened the gated door in front of us. "Maybe we can reason with them."
"After you and the other imperials just tried to kill them?" I asked him back and for a moment he seemed to agree with my words as he let out a sigh.
"Right. They might attack but we still have to try. This situation calls for drastic measures after all." Hadvar said before he placed his steel long sword in its scabbard at his waist before he pulled the lever and opened the door as he walked through it with me close behind him.
"Imperials!" The nord woman shouted as she was wielding a hand axe in one hand and a leather shield in the other.
"Take it easy. We aren't looking for a fight." Hadvar said as the man next to the woman also readied his weapon which was an iron great-sword and honestly I am wondering how they got these weapons.
"Save your lies for the God's!" The man shouted as he and the woman rushed us as the man went for Hadvar and the woman went for me as I gripped my iron long sword with both hands as I moved out of the way of one of her strikes before she clocked me with her shield and sent me to the ground as a saw a red bar flash to life in front of me and a small portion of the bar got depleted.
"It's a pity that I have to kill a sapling like you who can't even use a sword. But that is your own fault for joining the Imperials." The woman said to me as she raised her axe and got ready to strike before I tightly gripped my sword and lunged forward which luckily took her off guard as I ran my sword through her armor and chest which actually killed her in one shot since it apparently stabbed her through the heart.
"Bry!" The nord man shouted as the woman fell to the ground with my sword still in her chest as he looked at me with rage but that proved to be his undoing as Hadvar didn't miss the chance to take the man's head off with his steel sword in one slash that actually seemed to be enhanced with what looks like wind swirling around the blade before he sheathed his weapon and the winds vanished.
"You really aren't a fighter, are you?" Hadvar asked me as I shook my head.
"No, I'm not." I told him as I went for my sword before pulling it out of the nord woman's chest as it was now slick with crimson blood.
"Sorry friend but it looks like the battle for our lives is just getting started. We'll have to fight more people before we can rest." Hadvar said back as he was completely right, and I need to get my act together and I need to do it fast.
Your [One-Handed] skill went up! Level: 0-1
"Interesting." I whispered to myself as I saw the skill alert which means that this system, I have will work with Skyrim logic. "Let's go." I told him as we continued making our way through this fort which was a bit of a walk before we made our way to the storeroom where Hadvar helped me take out the two Stormcloaks trying to loot the place and interestingly I didn't level up my [One-Handed] skill which probably means that I will have to seriously train if I want my skills to level up.
"This is the storage room. Hopefully there are still some potions left. We are going to take what we need before we go." Hadvar said before he tossed me a leather backpack as we packed up some supplies and some potions that were laying around before we kept moving and interestingly, I learned that potions are kept in what looks like scientist beakers instead of the fantasy style potion bottles which is why they were in a special container to keep them from breaking as Hadvar and I moved out.
Soon enough we came to the torture room where the torturer and his assistant where and unlike in the game they didn't need help and had killed the two Stormcloaks.
"Hadvar it is interesting to see you here. What brings you by and what was all that racket a little while ago?" The torturer asked as Hadvar spoke bluntly.
"A dragon attacked Helgen and is attacking the keep." Hadvar explained as the torturer scoffed.
"A dragon. Please Hadvar you shouldn't make up such nonsense." The torturer said back.
"Didn't you hear me? The keep is under attack, and we need to leave." Hadvar said back in a mildly annoyed voice.
"You have no authority over me boy! Don't try and give me orders!" The torturer responded in anger and since he was seemed a bit strong and in the game he knows a lightning spell that I probably don't want to feel hit me.
"Forget the old man. I'll go with you." The assistant said before Hadvar turned and looked at the cage with a nord mage inside of it.
"Who was this?" Hadvar asked.
"Some random mage who got caught on the wrong side of the law. His comrades here didn't like how I treated him which is idiotic. He wasn't a Stormcloak and he has been dead for weeks." The torture said before he walked away and took a seat in the chair with a small table next to it as he picked up the book on the table and started reading it.
"Find some pins. We can sell his materials for gold when we get out." Hadvar said.
"Sure, take all my things." The torture said with an annoyed voice as I looked around for some bobby pins and I actually found some before I gave them to Hadvar and told him I don't know how to pick a lock and thankfully he did the lock picking and opened the cage as I grabbed the dead man's clothes and stuffed them into my Inventory along with the spell book he had next to him while Hadvar took the pouch of gold next to the corpse before we moved out and made our way further through the keep.
Soon enough we came to the wide area where a knew a big battle was waiting for us and due to this risk, I decided to learn the skill book that was in my inventory but to my surprise I couldn't read it through my Inventory like in any other RPG.
In order to learn spells from a Grimoire they need to be studied and practiced!
"Hold up." Hadvar whispered as he was in front of us leading the way as we heard several voices up ahead of us.
"Are we sure Ulfric made it out?" A voice asked with slight fear in his voice.
"Don't be so soft. Ulfric won't let something like this take him down. We just need to press on and meet him back at Windhelm." A familiar voice said as I recognized that voice as none other than Ralof himself.
"What do we do?" The torturers assistant asked in a whispered voice as Hadvar looked at us for a moment before talking.
"We press on and do what must be done." Hadvar said as he stood up and we followed him as we made our way to the large cave like area where we saw several Stormcloaks waiting for us.
"The imperials!" One of them shouted as all eyes where on us as Hadvar readied his sword while the torturers assistant prepared his shield and mace while I readied my long sword in both hands as the Stormcloaks charged at us as a group.
Hadvar and the torturers assistant who I am nicknaming Ralph fought off a few of the Stormcloaks who where dangerous but also it seemed that they are clearly untrained.
"If I had known you where with these Imperial dogs, I wouldn't have saved you." Ralof said as he walked up to me with two axes in both hands as he seemed intent on fighting me one on one.
"This isn't about me siding with anyone. This is about me trying to stay alive and that's why I'm hoping your willing to talk this out." I told him honestly as he seemed to glare at me now.
"Talk? No, we are passed the point of talking Elf. It's time for me to make my ancestors proud." Ralof said as he charged at me with both axes ready as I kept moving to try and evade his attacks but he got me multiple times. My armor took most of the damage but I still feel these hits because they somehow feel more powerful than they have any right to feel and my armor is started to break apart from his strikes that I could hardly dodge or try to swipe away with my own weapon.
"At the very least you need to try and fight back!" Ralof shouted before he slashed at me one more time and this time he actually managed to slice my sword in half somehow as he aimed to strike me down but I drop my broken weapon and with my Magicka at the ready I extend both hands by his face and cast Firefly Sparks while taking a heavy hit to the chest that practically tore open the Imperial torso armor that I am wearing as the spell looked like I ignited the air in front of my hands for a moment as Ralof's head had gotten engulfed in flames thanks to the flames igniting his hair as Ralof screams and tries to put out the flames with his hands as he dropped his axes while dropping to the ground and rolling to put out the flames.
In this moment it is him or me and despite how much I don't want to do it I grab one of his iron axes and bring it down as hard as I could on his head.
I heard a sickening wet church like noise from what I had just down as I looked down at Ralof's split open skull and I nearly throw up on the spot before I'm knocked down by another Stormcloak which made me fall down the nearby stairs leading down onto the cave like floor as I roll onto my back and see a pissed off Stormcloak with a great axe in hand as he is ready to strike me down but luckily the blade fell behind him after his hands where sliced off by a sharp invisible attack which made him scream in pain before his head came off as I saw Hadvar standing behind him with his sword covered in swirling winds.
"Are you alright?" Hadvar asked as he came up to me as the battle was over and he helped me up to my feet.
"No! I'm not alright!" I shouted before I looked back at Ralof and the other corpses around me and the sight proved to be too much for me as I bent forward and threw up onto the ground after falling to my knees.
"Don't look at them. Just focus on trying to escape this place alive." Hadvar said to me as he tried to help me but after all of this I just feel sick to my stomach before Hadvar slowly helped me up to my feet.
"You don't have time to be concerned with your first kill regrets. You two need to move." Ralph said to us.
"What about you?" Hadvar asked.
"I'm going back to try and convince the old man to leave with you. If not I'll stay and help him find a way back to Solitude some other way. Best of luck." Ralph said before he turned around and headed back to the torturer as I started to freak out because we still have to deal with the giant spiders and the bear further in this place.
"Come on Elf. It isn't much further now." Hadvar said before I wiped my mouth and decided to press on as Hadvar grabbed a crossbow and a quiver of bolts from one of the Stormcloaks. "Try and attack from a range from now on. That spell you used is rather weak and it only saved your life due to dumb luck and I'd rather not see you die from relying on it."
"Actually I need to ask. What spell are you using on your sword or is it enchanted?" I asked him as he looked at me for a moment.
"I'm using a Battle Art technique I developed called Wind Blade Technique." Hadvar said as that confused me a bit.
"What's a Battle Art?" I asked him as we walked.
"A Battle Art is the ability to harness a person's inner power to preform various techniques that give you an edge on the battlefield. The Argonians call it Ki while the Khajiit call it Chakra but as far as I'm concerned the name doesn't matter. All that matters is that my Battle Art techniques won't let me down in battle." Hadvar said as I made a mental note to look into the Battle Art subject since I don't think something like that has ever been in the elder scrolls universe.
"How much farther?" I asked as we've been walking for some time.
"Not too much farther now." Hadvar said and soon enough we came to the spider area but surprisingly there are no spiders or even webs and spider eggs and as a result I kept following Hadvar and even saw that there isn't a bear either which helps out a lot as we finally make our way out of the cave and into the open and ice cold air.
"Finally." I said with a sigh before Hadvar grabs my hand and pulls me down to the ground behind a large rock.
"Stay down." Hadvar quickly whispered as we heard a loud roar and saw Alduin flying off into the distance as we waited there for a good long moment of time before we stood back up.
"It looks like he's gone for good." I said as I dusted myself off a bit.
"Yeah. We should move to Riverwood. It's nearby and it won't take long for us to reach and since we have a moment I feel like it is only right if I finally ask for your name." Hadvar said to me.
"My name is Wayne." I told him as he scoffed a bit.
"That's a bit odd but I'm not one to judge. So, now that you introduced yourself I'll say that I'm Hadvar and it's a pleasure to be adventuring with you. So, let's get a move on." Hadvar said as I started following him down the long dirt path as I placed my crossbow across my back since it had a leather band on it as I also take out my grimoire from my Inventory and begin reading it and to my surprise this book is more or less a how-to-guide on how to preform and master various forms of magic from all the schools.
Also there are different types of magic users as well. There are basic wizards/mages followed by Druids, Clerics, Warlocks, Necromancers, Enchanters and Illusionist.
Also magic spells come in various forms and can be altered or changed entirely to preform new spells or chain them together with other preexisting spells to make a different effect all together. The only thing that it truly takes to learn and master magic is time, dedication and conviction.
I don't know how I got trapped into this world but I'm going to do everything in my power to survive.
END!
A/N: Short chapter but it is what it is and honestly I think this is a good stopping point anyway. So, this is a Skyrim story with a elder scrolls style game system in place and this story is taking inspiration from other games like the Witcher, Dragon Age, Elden Ring and so on.
So, stay tuned and enjoy.
