A/N: So this story is set in a universe where security breach never happened, and Gregory just kinda lived happily with an adopted family. Vanessa and Gregory are the same age, around 26, and Peepaw Willy never came back.

Freddy and Chica were in Monty's room helping him clean up after his latest outburst. Roxy stood at the door glaring at him. She had just finished cleaning up her raceway after Monty threw one of the cars at the prize counter, causing a chain reaction and knocking the entire thing over.

"Look, I get that you don't wanna help me clean, but could you not glare at me like that?" Monty asked.

"No, I'm gonna stay." Roxy said, not shifting her gaze from the reptile.

"I know I trashed the prize counter, and I should have picked it up, but Mr Spade wanted your track to be cleaned for the tech crew's inspection so I couldn't do it all!" Monty protested.

"Doesn't change the fact that you should have thought twice before going postal on a bunch of stuffed animals." Roxy scoffed.

"Please, both of you stop bickering.." Freddy said tiredly. "We must make sure to make a good impression with the new handler. You remember the last handler.." Freddy said. They all cringed at that.

Their last handler had been a guy who looked to be around 30, he had been nice enough in the beginning, but quickly started to slip when the animatronics misbehaved. Alexander Spade, the CEO of Fazbear entertainment, loved the guy. The animatronics were terrified of him. It was his idea to start using controlled shocks to subdue the animatronics. Eventually, Monty had snapped and threw a golf club rack at him. He quit the next day.

Their handler before that had come in to see a fight progressing with the animatronics. Roxy and Monty were clawing at eachother, Chica was having a mental breakdown because of something Monty said that was now the reason they had speech filters, and Freddy was trying to separate the two fighting animatronics to no avail. He turned and walked right back out of the pizzaplex.

"Yeah, well, it's good that that last guy is gone." Roxy said, turning to Monty. "And Gator, if this one is a jerk, I get to be the one to throw something at them." Roxy said.

Monty rolled his eyes. "The teddy bear's right, we need to do better with this one. Spade said we wouldn't like the outcome if we scare this one off." He said.

"Well, we'll just have to hope for the best!" Chica's optimism voice said, although it wavered.

The 4 animatronics stayed silent for the rest of the night.

The following night, Alexander Spade walked through the pizzaplex as S.T.A.F.F bots helped Vanessa lead people out for the night.

"Now listen, these robots can act a bit wild. If the wolf starts to talk back, or if you find her talking to herself in the mirror, shock it." Alexander said. "If the alligator breaks something, shock it. If the chicken is eating garbage, shock it. If the bear starts crying in-front of the guests, shock it."

The new employee opened their mouth to respond, but Alexander quickly continued.

"Basically shock em if they're doing anything wrong, but they can also be stunned or paralyzed. As a security measure, but it works as a punishment too. Anyhow, since you are gonna be on the premises a lot, you get a room in the Fazbear tower. Here's your key. Go get settled after you meet the animatronics. I have to get back to the head building, but call me if anything goes wrong and the stupid things start acting up more then you can handle."

The handler just meekly nodded, getting the feeling Alexander is not one to be messed with.

"Great. Cya later."

Alexander walked off, leaving the handler at rockstar row with the animatronics green rooms in their view. Only the lights in Freddy's room were turned on, so the new employee decided to start with him. As they approached the room, they found all the animatronics in there with Freddy. They looked up to see them.

As it turned out, all four animatronics were in Freddy's room, sitting stiffly around the sofa waiting for the handler to arrive. They examined the human carefully.

"uh.. hi, I'm Gregory." The man said.

Gregory looked to be in his mid 20s. He was fairly tall, with brown eyes, pale skin, and brown straight hair that reached the bottom of his neck. He wore beige dress pants and a blue work shirt.

Freddy was the first to get up. Gregory took a step back, he was about 6'2, while Freddy stood a good 8 feet tall.

"Hello Gregory, welcome to the mega pizzaplex. We are happy to have you." Freddy said.

Roxy snorted, with Monty clasping a quick hand over her mouth, to which she swatted away. Chica laughed nervously. "Uh.. ignore them!" She said anxiously. "We're so happy to have a new handler! Our last one.. well, never mind! We can show you around the pizzaplex if you like!" Chica said.

Gregory smiled at the excited chicken. "Heh, thanks, but Mr Spade told me to go settle into my room after I met you guys. I'll be back down in about an hour to talk with all of you one on one." He said.

"Oh, okay! See you in a bit!" Chica said.

"He seems nice!" Chica said after Gregory was out of range.

"Yeah, so far." Roxy said. "How long will this keep up though?"

"Will you shut it?!" Monty growled. "You've got no reason to hate 'im yet, so until he starts yellin', just don't be mean, got it?" He said.

"You're not the boss of me!" Roxy shot back.

Freddy sighed. "We should all give him a chance, Roxanne. he will come speak with us shortly, if we all make good impressions, he will be far more likely to trust and listen to us." Freddy said.

"I guess." Roxy murmured, standing up. "Well, I'm gonna go back to my room. We must make a good impression." Roxy said, imitating Freddy.

Monty and Chica nodded, leaving as well.

Gregory came back down about 40 minutes later. Alexander had left notes for him. a lot of them, and he was getting stressed. His solution to everything seemed to be to shock or punish the animatronics in some way. He had been here when he was a kid, he knew that the animatronics were sentient, and could feel pain from a time he saw a race cart run into Roxy. Gregory wondered if this was a humane thing to do. He went to Chica's room first.

Gregory knocked on the door and heard a gasp, and some running around and bumping into things. "Chica..?" Gregory asked. "Can I come it?"

"Uh.. just a minute!" Chica said.

Chica seemed to forget that there was a window into her greenroom that was clearly visible. Gregory could see she had been eating garbage.

"Chica, I'm gonna come in. I'm not mad at you." Gregory clarified before opening the door. When he stepped into Chica's room, he nearly gagged. The smell of garbage filled the room, making it hard for him to breathe. Chica had frozen like a deer in the headlights when he had come it, a garbage can in her hands and some old pizza hanging out of her beak. Gregory breathed shallowly trying to inhale as little of the stench as possible.

The two just stared at eachother for a while, before Chica dropped the garbage can in defeat, letting its contents spill on the floor.

"I'm sorry." Chica said meekly. The robotic chicken tensed for a moment, seeming to expect an electric shock, but it never came.

"D-did you think I was gonna hurt you?" Gregory asked, taking a careful step towards the animatronic.

Chica's beak opened and closed a couple times. "I-I wasn't.." Gregory said, a speck of anger flashing towards Alexander for making the animatronics so scared of the employees. "C'mon, I'll help you clean this up."

The pair cleaned in silence for a few minutes, before Gregory started up a conversation. "So Chica, how come you like to eat garbage? It cant be good for your circuits.."

Chica stopped cleaning. "I don't know.. it just sort of happens, and I can't stop myself." Chica said sadly.

"Well, I can try to help you with this stuff, if you want." Gregory said.

There was an awkward silence between the two.

"What do you think of the others?" Asked Gregory asked.

Chica lit up at that question. "I love all of them! Freddy is like a giant teddy bear, and Roxy is so funny and talented!" She said.

Gregory smiled. "And how about Monty?"

Chica tried to keep smiling, but she faltered. "Monty's.. a bit aggressive, but he's nice! ...Can be nice. I.. still do miss Bonnie though." She said.

Gregory nodded as he finished cleaning up the garbage, keeping the mention of Bonnie in the back of his mind. He knew that there had been a bunny before Monty, no one really knew what happened to him. "Make sure to remind me to clean out your stomach, okay?" Gregory asked.

Chica just nodded as Gregory left. Gregory gave her an empathetic smile as he went to Roxy's room. When Gregory reached her door, he looked towards the window, which Roxy had had the sense to close, but he could hear her talking to herself.

"Roxy?" Gregory said, knocking on the door.

He heard a gasp.

"Can I come in?"

no response.

Gregory slowly opened the door, the wolf looked like she had been crying. Or.. would have been crying if her eyes did that.

"What's wrong?" Gregory asked.

Roxy still sat stock, not giving Gregory his answer.

"If I did something to upset you, then-"

"Not yet." Roxy scoffed. "But all our handlers have been the same. We know the kinds of people Spade hires. So just shock me already and get it over with."

"Roxy, im not gonna use shocks on you guys."

Roxy looked over at him.

Gregory slowly approached, waiting to see if she would object. She didn't, and Gregory continued to approach and sat on the sofa adjacent to her.

"So, I'm here to get some information on what you guys need. So.. what do you need?" Gregory asked.

Roxy shrugged.

Gregory rubbed at the back of his neck. He was never good at emotional stuff. "Well, it looks to me like you need to talk to someone."

"No! I don't, I'm the best, and I don't need help." Roxy huffed.

"Yeah, I know. You were always my favourite as a kid." Gregory said.

Roxy perked up at that. "I was..?" She asked

"Yeah, I always thought you were the coolest thing ever."

Roxy flipped her hair "As you should, but.."

"Roxy, I want to help. You don't have to tell me anything, but you can. Okay?" Gregory asked.

Roxy thought for a moment, but nodded her head anyhow.

Gregory smiled, leaving her in her room to contemplate what he had said.

Gregory went to see Monty next. He could already hear the sound of something breaking. He didn't even knock on Monty's door, knowing that he wouldn't hear him. He stands in the doorway for a few seconds, watching Monty destroy a S.T.A.F.F bot before he notices Gregory standing in the doorway. Monty drops the remains of the STAFF bot and slumps down on his sofa. He looked distraught.

"What happened?" Gregory asked in a playfully annoyed tone.

Monty didn't answers.

"How come none of you wanna talk to me?" Gregory asked.

Monty hesitated, before getting up the nerve to answer. "It's not that we don't wanna talk, okay? It's that Spade said," Monty paused to imitate the CEO's voice, "I swear to god, if you all keep causing this much of a problem for your handlers, we're gonna replace you with new models! So why don't you just shut up, and let them do their job."

Gregory was growing angry at the CEO. He thought these machines would be treated like gods, but it seemed like no one in the company cared about these metal robots they somehow managed to instil with consciousness.

"Listen, I'm not gonna use the taser, like, ever." Gregory said, uncliping the taser from his belt and throwing it into the garbage. "I want you guys to talk to me, how else am I gonna do my job?"

"electrocute and yell at us?" Monty said bitterly.

"That is not what being a handler is. Come talk to me if you need anything, okay? I promise I won't tell Mr Spade unless you want me to." Gregory said.

Monty looked up at him at that. Gregory was about to leave the room when,

"Uh.. c-could I get some new shades?" Monty asked him.

Gregory smiled and nodded at the alligator. "Yeah, no problem. I'll put in the request in the morning." He said.

Monty had expected Gregory's laid back attitude to crumble at the request, but surprisingly he seemed to be serious. Monty watched as he left his room in silence, going over to Freddy's next. When Gregory approached Freddy's room, he looked in his window to see him acting more.. normal then the others. He sat on his sofa, looking rather tense and anxious as he tapped one of his massive paws against the ground.

Gregory knocked on his door and he jumped.

"C-come in!" He said quickly.

Gregory did so, walking into Freddy's room to see him seemingly standing at attention.

"Hey, bud. You doing alright?" He asked.

"Everything at the mega Pizzaplex is satisfactory for my needs." Freddy said, his voice more robotic and anxious then before.

Gregory raised an eyebrow. "See, I don't think that's true, Freddy. I'm not doing my job correctly if I don't know if there's something you need."

Freddy looked uncomfortable as he shifted his weight back and fourth.

"Wha'd your last handler tell you?" He asked suspiciously.

Freddy looked unsure, but answered anyhow. "Mr Johnson? He was.. well, I doubt my speak filters will allow me to repeat the things he said. Here is a recording from approximately 2 weeks before he quit." Freddy said, an older man's voice starting to play.

"You stupid teddy bear! I can't believe you let some kid make you cry over that stupid scrapped rabbit! Get it together, you-"

A string of swears came out of the man's mouth, all the while Gregory could hear the faint sound of electrical buzzing in the background.

"I've got half a mind to deactivate you, we'll have another personality chip made in a week. Alexander hasn't already done it cause your memory chips are expensive as hell. Get it together, dummy." The recording of Mr Johnson cut off abruptly and Gregory looked up at Freddy.

"He.. cut my power for the night after that." Freddy said sadly.

Gregory had half a mind to track that guy down, but he took a breath and looked to Freddy.

"Freddy, I'm not gonna do that. My job is literally to help you. And that's what I intend to do." Gregory said. "So, let's try again. You doing alright?"

Freddy hesitated, still seeming a bit nervous, but he sighed, taking off one one of his shoulder pads to reveal a huge chuck of his shell had been ripped away and the wires were showing. Gregory cringed.

"Geez! How long has that been like that?" Gregory asked.

"N-not long.. only a month or two," Freddy said.

"Freddy, buddy, that looks painful."

"It, well, that's why he did it, and it doesn't hurt as much anymore-"

"What?" Gregory asked, and Freddy shrunk back. "Freddy, did your last handler do that?"

Freddy opened his mouth a few times, trying to think of the best way to respond, but eventually just nodded.

Gregory put a hand to his temple. "Okay, thanks for telling me, Freddy. I'll schedule maintenance in the morning to get the shell on your arm replaced." Gregory said.

Freddy gave Gregory a quick nod, but he smiled.

Gregory smiled back at him. "Alright, I'm gonna go schedule your maintenance and talk to Vanessa, and order Monty his new shades, then I think I'll hit the hay. Cya in the morning, Buddy!" Gregory said, waving at the big bear.

Freddy waved back, heading to Chica's room where the others had already met up. When he entered the room, then all looked up at him.

"Well?" Roxy asked.

"He.. said he was gonna schedule maintenance to replace the shell on my arm." Freddy gestured to the still exposed arm, still in bewilderment.

"Did he tase any of you?" Roxy asked.

The others all shook their heads.

"yeah, me neither." She looked to Freddy. "Maybe you were right, Freddy. Maybe this one can actually help us."

"Yeah, even when I was destroyin' that staff bot, he didn't do anything about it." Monty said.

The animatronics sat in silence, contemplating the revelation for the rest of the night.
