Ahsoka Tano was perhaps the most skilled female in the Jedi Order. Her martial arts skills were beyond her years, her agility with two lightsabers was undeniably impeccable, and she was strong both in body and in spirit.

Today, Ahsoka was working on an assignment for a history lesson on her heritage. According to her birth records and those from when Master Plo discovered Ahsoka as a toddler, she was born in a Native Torguta tribe on Shili.

"You were born from one of Shili's bravest native tribes, weren't you?" Gabby, Ahsoka's honorary little sister, asked.

"That's what Father says," said Ahsoka. "I don't remember much, but I know that my people were brave, and that they shared a very special connection to the natural life of our world."

Ahsoka picked out some books about Togruta tribes she found, and Gabby took a look in some of them.

"Huh, it says here that when a new baby is born in a togruta tribe," said Gabby. "the new baby's name always has a symbolic spiritual meaning behind it based on how his or her parents believe the baby will grow up to be."

Ahsoka took a look into the book that had the names on it, and into an old recording of her birth family's notes on why she was named Ahsoka.

"Take a look at this." Ahsoka said. "Apparently, my name comes from a historical figure named Ahsokahontas, who protected her land from invading colonists centuries ago."

Ahsoka picked out a book all about Ahsokahontas, and she opened it to find a drawn picture of her.

"Wow!" Gabby gasped. "She looks just like you, Ahsoka."

"This book tells a story all about her based on what was found in a diary and various other records from that time. Interesting."

"Can we read it?"

"I don't see why not."

So, Ahsoka opened the book to begin the story.

"In what is known as the first year of the sycamore, there was a young heroine. How she came to be this heroine, soon you shall know. By bravery, courage, and eyes that were open to see despite a difference outside, inside, all are the same."
