Sup, guys? Lighting Wolf here, back with another story. This one about Gunvolt. Enjoy the 800-word chapter. I don't own Gunvolt, Inti Creates and a few others do.

Desna couldn't understand why her power wasn't enough. She had given her very will to Eden… And it seemed to have forsaken her.

She couldn't fathom why, but there was nothing she could do. Desna laid dying on the ground. Her armor kept her only slightly from death.

"Ow…" Desna muttered to herself and sighed. She wasn't good enough to win, she had given the battle her all.

If She couldn't stop Gunvolt? Then she knew the rest of Eden wouldn't either. They would fall as the seven did.

"I thought… Why didn't he die?" Desna questioned and looked at the stars. The very ones she had gazed upon every night.

She had been told even gods lived among them. Desna believed that her master would be a goddess. Eden's plans had brought them among the very stars she coveted.

"But they seem even out of reach even now…" Desna muttered to herself with a sigh. Part of her wondered if that was why they had failed.

Perhaps the stars themselves didn't wish for things to be like this. Perhaps it was a sign even the cosmos had forsaken Zonda… Their plans were fleeting more and more.

"No… They can't be…" Desna muttered to herself as she curled into a ball. Part of her was scared.

Desna had always told herself that when she died? She died embracing Eden, that her beliefs would cradle her and protect her from death… Now she knew that when she died? There would be nothing.

"I don't… Want to die…" Desna stated and dragged herself to her feet. She clung to life, but there was almost nothing protecting her from death.

She couldn't fight even if she had to. Desna knew her death would be close if she didn't escape. The only thing that mattered now was ensuring that she could endure Eden's destruction.

She limped towards one of the escape pods. Desna had no idea why there was escape pods… Perhaps some part of Zonda knew that her plan would collapse and that she would have to escape sooner or later?

Whatever the case? Desna didn't look a gift horse in the mouth. IF Zonda won? She would make sure to return to the girl's side and praise her plans… But another part of Desna knew that Eden would die today.

Desna dragged herself into the escape pod and locked it behind. She looked at the station.

Was Desna really abandoning Eden? So many of the group had died. Part of Desna wanted to scold herself… To smack the stupid cowardice out of her own body and crawl to Zonda.

Desna wanted to beg the woman for her forgiveness. Still? Desna knew that things would fail even if she stayed. The majority of Eden's elite was dead… And she would join them if she stayed.

Not even her power could stop Gunvolt, and if she was stupid enough to stay here? She would join them.

"As much as I want to stay?" Desna stated to herself and punched in a code. "There is no future for me in Eden's empire." Desna added while she sighed and rubbed at her arms.

The pod launched. Desna pulled her knees to her chest. Eden's base grew into a speck as the pod spun through space. She looked behind her as the pod barreled into the depths of the cosmos.

Desna pulled herself over to the pod's controls. It wouldn't be a perfect landing, but it would be better than nothing.

It was then, however, that another vision struck her. Desna looked at the stars.

There was something among them that she had seen. A being who seemed to be waiting for her arrival.

Part of Desna wondered if it was Zonda, who had found her and sentenced her to oblivion itself.

"Hmm… But there is nothing there… No, I see it…" Desna muttered to herself while sighing as she looked at the controls.

She could pilot herself to safety… Or she could investigate one last vision. One that told her something important if she believed it.

"One last vision…" Desna muttered to herself while plotting a course towards the vision.

The stars had spoken, and she would answer their cause.

Author Notes

Phew. First chapter done! I want to point out that Desna's story will be a bit different and she will meet an Adept next chapter. Next chapter will be in a month or so and will show Desna meeting the adept and explaining it's backstory and such. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!

P.S: Next chapter will be 900 words or so and will hopefully be soon.
