Sup guys? Lighting Wolf here, back for another story, this one about Girl Genius. Enjoy the 800-word chapter. I don't own Girl Genius, Foglio LLC and a few others do.

He rolled his eyes at this, less amused by this debauchery then he was before. Then again? Considering the amount of work, he had put into this job? It didn't so much amuse him as make him curious as to WHY he had been hired.

"Hmm…" He muttered as he rolled his eyes, well, the one he had left. He considered the stupid stunt he had pulled before. "Fools, every single one of them to think about it." He stated while he swirled the cup around before finally just pushing it away when it comes down to it.

He shook in his seat, the unkept appearance he maintained belayed a very dangerous mercenary, one who was quite willing to do things to get paid, but weren't quite willing to do something major.

"You've been here several days when it comes down to it." He heard, turning to look over the scruffy man who sat in the chair.

"Yeah, and you've told me the door is always open, what's wrong with that?" He questioned, raising an eyebrow as he leaned back in his chair. "Am I not allowed that, anymore? I'm starting to think you lied about it when it comes down to it." He said, slowly but surely getting out of his seat as he started to look around, more curious about what the bartender would do.

The longer things went on? The more he started to think this was a punishment for his innocence. He knew that his arrogance was the reason he had lost so much to begin with. Whatever punishment his body was the result of his body cursing him and his arrogance being rewarded with more pain.

"No, long as you can keep paying for this stuff." He heard in response, gaining a nod from his friend as he paused, thinking about the next fight he'd probably be put into. "You need another contract when it comes down to it." He heard when it comes down to it.

He chuckled, a big issue and there was always a stable income of money when he thought it. He nodded, curious as to the job this time when it came down to it. He needed to think about his next move as he hummed and clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth, getting the same coppery feel he had felt before.

"As long as it helps like it always seems to, sure. I got nothing better to do in this damn town." He added, brushing off his arms while he thought about the next maneuver he employed. "What is it this time? You got another group of those damn knockoffs trying to break in again, Ralph?" He questioned, raising an eyebrow as he shook his head, leaning on the bar with a look of mirth more then anything he had in the past.

He sighed, rubbing at his temples while he started to look around with growing confusion as Ralph was silent, unsure what to say next to the young mercenary.

"Well? You just said there's work and I'm curious as to what it is. You've never held back with work when it comes down to it and you know it." He added, drumming his gloved hands alongside the bar as he did so. "I don't want to be given work if it's something stupid." He added to which he got a shake of the head from Ralph.

"Do you think I'd speak so openly, Renn?" Renn heard as he rolled his eyes, a distinct metallic sound in his throat as he sighed. "You're a merc, or a bounty hunter or something. I know you only work to get paid, it's something you do all the time. You don't operate unless you get paid for it and this contract isn't purely for money." Ralph put in to which Ren could only shake his head, brushing off his coat as he did so.

"And I don't just fight for money, you know. I'm not heartless, Ralph." Ren put in, pointing a finger at his friend a moment later. "There's too much to think about when it comes down to it. Just give me the details, we're go from there." Ren put in, curious as to this assignment.

Phew. First chapter done! I want to point out that next chapter will be longer and such. Next chapter will be in 2-10 months and such. Next chapter will be also show more about Ren and such. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
