The figure continued onward, his scuffed brown boots and tattered black pants served as the only thing that covered his body besides the worn crimson cloak he wore.
His stomach grumbled in a way that reminded him that he hadn't the ability to afford food. He shivered before he pulled up his hood and continued to trek down the street.
The figure sighed and felt his cold breath emerge from his lips. He blinked before pulling the cloak close. The figure knew that it was far colder than usual.
"Shelter…" The boy said and leaned on a brick wall. The cold continued to bite at him.
It whipped at his bare skin like the sting of dozens of blades. There was no defense against it at all. There was no escape from it either.
"Is it supposed to be so cold out?" The boy asked and struggled to pull the worn and tattered cloak over his unbrushed black hair.
He couldn't end up wondering what happened to his family. They had vanished, he couldn't figure out if they died when he was born, had been assassinated or vanished. He didn't really care at the moment.
Another cold gust of wind forced him to tug the cloak as closed as it could be. He could almost hear the cloak tear more. It was barely a garment, much less a straight up piece of clothing.
The figure could hear someone approach. For a second? He almost hoped it was a savior, someone who could take him in. His hopes were dashed as the sharp dressed man passed him.
The boy only sighed; this was just something that he was used to. While people didn't hate people were down on their luck? They were prone to ignoring them unless they were truly close to losing their lives.
"Ow…" He muttered while his stomach growled once more. The growl made him embarrassed…
Still? He couldn't help it. He was hungry, but not enough to steal from anyone in the area. That was not something he planned on doing, he was no thief.
He took another breath which showed only ghostly fog. He pulled his knees to his face and wrapped his hands around his leg.
"Maybe I should ask someone for help?" He questioned himself and ran his fingers through his ebony hair.
He sighed; it didn't help matters at all. Someone might give him a meal, but it wouldn't help him escape this life. The figure didn't ask to be born so down on his luck.
Still? There weren't many reasons for him to be able to turn this around. it wasn't like he had any ability to change that.
He'd take a job if he had gotten it. He lacked no ambition or desire to be in power, just not to be prowling the streets and eating whatever scraps he could get his hands on.
"Ow… My head is stinging." He muttered and sighed before rubbing at his temples. He was getting a headache from his stomach pains.
It didn't help much that he was starting to feel woozy and unsure of what was happening in the moment. His vision started to feel hazy. It was like he had fallen into a daze.
He laid on his side, curled into a pathetic ball. The pains started to grow worse as the boy groaned in pain and sighed. There was nothing he could do.
"I couldn't do anything." He said while muttering to himself. He felt weak, worthless… Powerless. It made him sigh and try and pull up his cloak more.
He would be cursed if he died of the cold. If he died? It would be under his own terms. He rubbed at his stomach and temple before groaning as he started to pass out.
He heard something approaching as he started to pass out. It was footsteps coming towards him. The last thing he saw before he passed out were feet in front of him.
"Oh… Hey there." She said while he groaned and blinked with annoyance.
"And who might you be?" The figure questioned while looking down at the figure.
He had no idea he had just met Ningguang, the queen of the region. And that he had just become her trusted servant.

Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that the figure will get a name, I just want it to mean something. This will be the most updated Genshin story I have soon. Next chapter will be in 2-10 weeks and will show the boy and Ningguang meeting in person and bonding more. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
