The early evening May air wrapped around Regina like a cold blanket rain dropped on the umbrella she held. Sh was standing by the gravesite of the second man she has loved in her life. The man she thought was going to be her happy ending.
She was feeling defeated and naive, how could a former villain get a happy ending. Her hand grabbed her sisters giving it a squeeze. A single tear rolled down her cheek, wiping it away before anyone would notice it. Regina wanted to remain strong for her sister, her niece and of course Robin's son Roland. The poor little boy had lost his mother twice, been stuck as a toddler for twenty eight years and now lost his father. During the last couple of years Regina had grown fond of him, now there was a mothers urge to protect him from anymore harm.
Regain glanced at the casket that held her true love one last time before she grabbed Zelena's hand and walked away. She couldn't stand the idea of staying there any longer, what she needed right now was a drink. In a haze she made her way to Granny's dinner. Regina walked over to the first empty booth she could find while Zelena went up to the counter and ordered them drinks.
After ordering the drinks she came to the table the Raven haired women was sitting at and leaned down. "Sis, I am going to the bathroom to change Robin. I ordered myself some tea and you a Whiskey, they should be over shortly." She gave her younger sister a quick kiss on the cheek, held onto Robin a littler tighter then normal then she walked away. Both women were grieving men they loved, while their situations were different the pain in both of their hearts was the same.
Two minutes later the drinks appeared before Regina, she gave a weak grin to the waitress, thanking her for bringing them over. She grabbed ahold of the drink barley taking a sip as her gaze slipped away again and started replaying all of the events from the past few weeks. Her memories of Robin were broken when the Charming came over to comfort her.
"Regina?" Snow said catching her attention, she glanced up staring at the couple holding hands. "Look, I know that there's nothing we can really say, but we just want you to know you don't have to go through this alone." Snow laid her other hand on Regina's shoulder, the thought of her touching her a few short years ago would have made her sick to her stomach but now after become friends through all they had been through the gesture was a comforting touch.
At that moment Zelena had made her back from the bathroom and over to the table. "She won't have to." Zelena proclaimed as the younger sister tore her eyes away from the Charmings and glanced back at the table in front of her. "I think what my sister needs is a little time with someone who understands what she's going through." Regina couldn't focus on what David was saying she briefly glanced back to him and Snow's direction when tears started to fill her eyes.
A weak smiled formed as the Charming's walked away she looked back at her sister but no words could come out. All she could do was grab the cold beverage in front of her and drink the rest of the Whiskey without stopping. She set the glass down and waved to the waitress over for another round. Regina gazed off into the abyss once more waiting for her second drink of the night to appear before her.
Emma walked around the city with a bottle of rum in one hand and a metal hook in the other. Ever couple of steps she took a sip from the bottle of rum, not paying attention to where she was going. She didn't know knew where her feet would take her, all she knew was that she didn't want to go into Granny's.
Emma couldn't face her parents or Henry and she didn't have a home to go to. The house that held her belongings was Hooks home, the home he picked out for the two of them that still held her dreamcatchers from when she was the dark one. The only thing she knew she could do was walk around aimlessly drinking her dead boyfriends favorite drink and twirly his old hook in her hand.
She turned off of Storybrookes main street and walked down the road that lead to Henry's favorite park, the park that used to hold his 'castle'. A few minutes later Emma arrived to the park, she decided to sit on the swings. Barley moving back and forth her legs mostly dangled there she stared up at the moon and the stars.
Tears started to form in her eyes, the stars made her think of Killian and how he taught her how to use a sextant. In her heart she knew she wouldn't be able to able to look at another boat without thinking about that Pirate. Emma quickly looked down at her feet, taking another sip of the cold alcohol. As the Rum burned the back of her throat she heard a familiar voice behind her.
"Is this where all the women who have lost multiple boyfriends go to drink?" Emma didn't have to turn around to know who those words belonged to. The words that were filled with as much grief that she was feeling.
"Good, you found the party, glad you could make." The blond hair women spoke with a small chuckle, she took another sip this one lasting longer than the previous. "Take a seat and wallow in grief with me." Her green eyes glared at the ground below she couldn't bring herself to look in Regina's direction. If she dared look into her brown eyes Emma knew she would start crying and one thing in her life she has worked hard at is making sure the people around her didn't see her cry.
Regina sat in the swing next to Emma without thinking about it. "Look at you with your Rum, I of course have a nice bottle of whiskey." She took a drink of the Whisky she bought off of Granny at the dinner, spending twice as much as what it was worth, Granny couldn't say no to that type of profit.
"You know I could arrest you for drinking in public, since you are a city official it wouldn't look good." Emma stated slurring her words.
Half the bottle was gone and she was feeling the affects of the brown liquid. She glanced in Regina's direction knowing that the Mayor former Evil queen was going through the same thing she was. Brown eyes meet green. "Well I could have you arrested and fired, a sheriff shouldn't be drinking in public, let alone a children's park." A smirk appeared upon her lips, the first emotion she had all day besides utter despair.
"Then it's settled, neither one of us will get the other one fired." Emma said smirking back. "It's a deal." The two women clicked their bottles together agreeing upon their half drunken deal.
"Why aren't you at Granny's, everyone else is?" Regina asked still looking in Emma's direction. Emma looked away from Regina's grief filled eyes. In the underworld she promised Killian she wouldn't put her defensive walls back up, but she could feel them slowly reappearing. Running away when things got tough, it was what she knew best.
"The answer is in the question, everyone is there. Besides why aren't you there?" Emma asked.
"I couldn't take everyone offering me condolences, it was getting a little to much. I gave Zelena the keys to my car, I bought this lovely bottle of Whiskey off of Granny." Regina hoisted the bottle into the air. "I walked around awhile until I noticed someone sitting on the swings and as a good Mayor decided I should investigate. Turns out it was you, the savior." She said the lat part in a sarcastic tone. She took a another sip of Whiskey, the taste had become numb on her lips. At this point Regina was drinking to forget.
"So much for being savior my actions got Hook and Robin killed."
The two drunk women fell silent the only sound was the wind hitting the tree above their heads and the metal chains from them swaying back and forth on the swings. Fifteen minutes later Regina stood up carefully making sure she didn't stumble forward. "Do you want to
go get a real drink?" She asked, Emma responded with a simple nod.
Regina offering her hand to younger women. "First put the hook away, I don't want to get stabbed by you and need one for myself."
"Sure why not lets get a drink, what else do I have to lose." Emma said as she sat the bottle down, grabbed Regina's hand in her's to help her stand out of the swing. She shoved the hook into her back pocket and reached down for the bottle of rum. The bottle of rum was being held as if it was a life line.
Regina wrapped her arm around Emma's shoulder, the feeling of Emma so close never got old. It brought her back to the night of the fire when Emma wrapped her arm around the raven haired beauty and saved her life. Regina used to long for the moments that Emmas hand would slightly touch hers. Those moments were long gone.
Regina didn't know if it was grief or the alcohol but having Emma near reminded her of how she felt about her in Neverland. There was a brief moment Regina thought the two of them could be something. Now she knew it was to late for anything and she had to much grief in her heart. The pair made their way toward main street not a car in sight. They started looking for a place they could get a real drink that wasn't Granny's. In a small town such as Storybrooke this was a much more difficult task then one would think.
"My office." The words fumbled out of Regina's mouth. "I have supplies to make drinks there." A glimpse of a smile appeared upon her lips.
"That's a great idea." Emma said, making their way to he mayors office. At that moment a loud bang rang through the sky, the noise came in the direction of the clock tower. The pair turned around trying to figure out what the noise was. Emma slipped and the bottle of rum fell out of her hand spilling what little bit was left of the brown liquid causing glass to break onto the road.
Regina stood still not knowing what to do, trying to figure out what had happen. A few buildings down her mom, dad, Henry, Zelena and all of their friends ran out of Granny's dinner. The group looked around trying to figure out where the noise had come from when Snow noticed her daughter laying on the ground. "Emma!" Snow shouted running towards the drunken pair. The rest of the group not far behind. "What happened Regina?"
"Well.. there waass a nose, ha not a nose a..a noise and we turned and Emma fell. Spilling her beloved dead pirates whiskey on the ground. Wait nooo noooo. I am drinking whiskey the pirate liked rum. Yup... she spilled the rum and now she is on the ground and your here, your all here." Regain took another sip of her Whiskey then offered the bottle to Emma for her have some. Emma grabbed ahold of the bottle and before she could take a sip Snow pried it from her daughters hands.
"I think the both of you have had enough." Snow said in a stern motherly voice. "David come help me get Emma off of the ground." She grabbed onto Emma's right side while her father went to her left, the pair pulled their daughter up from the ground.
"Mom your leg!" Henry said pointing at a four inch piece of glass that was sticking out the side of Emma's leg, blood dripped down from the wound.
"I can fix it." Regina said stumbling over her words. She started waving her hands to let her magic heal the blondes wound. Snow waved her hand in-front of Regina stopping her from preforming any type of magic.
"I think you are in no state to be using any type of magic at this time. Zelena can you help heal Emma?"
"Of course," Zelena spoke sashing over to the group. She attempted to wave her hands but not much magic was coming out. "Well that's not good, why is my magic not working?"
"Okay well first things first we will get Emma fixed up the old fashion way, with some stitches. Henry and I will take Emma to the hospital, we will also take you to make sure you haven't drank to much. David you take Grumpy and Zelena to check out where that noise came from it sounds like it came from the clock tower. Maybe it has something to do with why Zelena's magic isn't working"
"I can take my sister and I can fix up Emma's leg" Zelena said holding onto Robin with one arm the other on her hip.
"I know you can but I think it's a good idea to get them both checked out by a doctor make sure they aren't dehydrated and besides the guys should have someone with magic just incase yours start working again" Snow said while make sure Emma didn't fall.
Doc was in the group of people watching this whole ordeal and ran to David's car to bring it to Snow. David, Snow and Doc helped Emma into the back seat avoiding hitting her leg onto anything. She didn't need to suffer any more pain then what she had already felt the last few days. The booze had helped numb her leg so Emma wasn't feeling any pain at the moment from the big bottle shard sticking out the side of her leg.
Zelena guided her sister into the passenger seat while Henry moved into the middle front seat. Snow sat at the drivers seat and drove away from the group. David, Grumpy, and Zelena went to investigate what was happening in the clock tower. Snow knew she was in for a long night of dealing with her drunk daughter and a drunk former evil queen. What no one knew was how the events caused from this night and the next couple of days would have such a huge effect on all of their futures.
