(a/n- My first Harry/Ginny, hope it's not bad!)

Pairing- Harry/Ginny
Prompts-
Wish; Feelings fade, memories don't; Start of something new

Ginny sat down in the grass, her knees drawn up and her eyes on the night sky. The quietness of the Burrow was a bit uncomfortable compared to the usual loudness it had. But then, the Burrow was full of boys, none of whom would be up at three in the morning when they could be sleeping.

She ignored the dew as well as the dirt and began plucking out strands of grass, her eyes still on the stars in the sky. They shone brightly, beautifully. Her eyes flickered to the right, noticing one falling.

A shooting star. She recalled something Hermione had once said. It was something about how Muggles thought you could make wishes on them….

She wished that were true. If it was, as much trouble as it would cause, she would right then and there wish for-

"Ginny?"

Her head snapped up in surprise to see a shadowy figure making its' way over to her. She suddenly felt flustered.

"Harry?" She whispered into the darkness, "What are you doing up?"

She watched him stop and sit down in the grass beside her. He looked up at the sky as well.

"I could ask you the same thing."

"Just, thinking." She answered, glancing at him for one as well.

He shrugged. "Same I guess." They sat in silence for a while. "Ginny…" He began, not really knowing what to say. What do you say to the girl you love, who's heart you broke, when you're leaving her, possibly forever?

"Feelings can fade in a year, Harry." Her eyes were on the sky again. "But memories can't."

"Feelings this strong won't fade." He told her. And himself. He knew he loved her now, and when he came back, if he came back, he would still love her, that he was sure of. But… Would she feel the same? She'd managed to hang on when he'd been breaking her heart for five years, but now, was it too much? Could she-

"It'll be so different, so new," He turned to look at her. She was resting her chin on her knees, staring straight ahead into the night. "Starting something new… Without Ron and Hermione and you. And Dumbledore's gone. Snape will be headmaster, Deatheaters will be all over the school! They won't let any Muggle-born's in, no one will be there to lead the D.A.-"

"Ginny!" She blinked. She hadn't even realized there were tears streaming down her face, or that Harry was holding her tightly in his arms. "If I could stay… With everyone, with you, you know I would. I'm so sorry-"

She held up a hand, stopping him, yet snuggled deeper into his embrace, her eyes fluttering close. "I know, Harry. I know."
