It was a normal day in Castle Bleck. After reverting back to their original forms and retrieving Mr. L from the Underwhere, everyone in the Castle was totally tired out and ready for a nice, relaxing week, with no adventures whatsoever happening.
However, their prayers weren't going to be answered for long.
"It's just one adventure after another!" fumed Mimi. She was stomping over to Mr. L's room after discovering her diary missing yet again. Ever since Dimentio and Mr. L had become friends again, her diary had been stolen more than once in one day. Those complete meanie-heads! They were so annoying and dumb, Mimi felt like cracking her neck.
Well, thought Mimi, maybe Dimentio isn't so annoying and dumb...
The young green-skinned shape-shifting girl had reached Mr. L's room. She raised a fist and banged on the door three times. She waited for the door to open, hands on her hips, listening to frantic scuffling noises and whispered voices from behind Mr. L's door.
"Get it under the bed!"
"Where?"
"There, you idiot!"
"Ah!"
"We're coming!"
"Yes, just give us a few minutes!"
"Preferably the entire day!"
"Wouldn't 'dat give it away?"
"You just did, Mr. King of Thickness!"
Mimi listened to the scuffle, half-interested, half-frustrated. She huffed and blew a pigtail out of her face. The time had come for drastic action.
"I'm opening this door right now, dummy-heads!" she warned, and did so.
What she saw made her jaw drop.
Mr. L had always forbidden everyone to come into his room. This was partly why Mimi was surprised that O'Chunks and Dimentio were there. The other reason that Mimi was surprised ws that Mr. L's room wasn't a proper room. It was taken up mostly by Brobot, the space surrounding him scattered with crumpled pieces of paper, oil spills, various engineering tools, forgotten blue-prints and, strangely enough, a few black feathers. As far as Mimi could see, there was no bed, therefore increasing her curiosity. How could Mr. L sleep here?
Meanwhile, O'Chunks and Dimentio were standing side-by-side to the right of Brobot, both of them attempting to hide something that looked like an upright feathery cocoon.
"Er, hey lass," said O'Chunks nervously.
"Like innocent children, we have nothing to hide," Dimentio gabbled.
"Great," muttered a voice that sounded suspiciously like Mr. L's. "Now she's suspicious."
O'Chunks slapped the cocoon. Mr. L's voice fell silent.
Mimi craned her neck, trying to see behind O'Chunks and Dimentio's bulk. "Whatcha hiding?"
"Told you," sneered Mr. L's voice.
Dimentio slapped the cocoon. Mr. L's voice fell silent again.
"Is that L?" demanded Mimi angrily.
"Ah' course not!" exclaimed O'Chunks, waving a beefy hand airily. "It ain't like L sprouted wings're summin'!"
"An excellent job on 'not telling anyone about what happened overnight'," said Dimentio, performing a mock bow.
"Thanks, Dimen'io," beamed O'Chunks.
"I was being sarcastic."
"Ah. I see."
"Did Mr. L grow wings?" said Mimi with interest.
"No!" gabbled O'Chunks and Dimentio in unison.
"Are you suuu-ure?" replied Mimi, obnoxiously stretching the last word.
"Yes!" yelped O'Chunks and Dimentio together.
"Oh, who cares?" grumbled Mr. L's voice. "Everyone's gonna find out anyway. Might as well get it over with..."
"Get what over with?" asked Mimi.
O'Chunks and Dimentio both stepped aside anxiously, revealing the cocoon. The wings opened up, to reveal...
...the Green Thunder.
