Chapter 1: Titans, The New Team
Jason Todd didn't didn't know what to do first in Jump City. After he came back to life, Jason had been avoiding hero populated cities like the plague. For a few years after his resurrection, Jason trained to better himself both mentally and physically. Afterwards, he then 'acquired' tech from several different companies and corporations, such as Wayne Enterprise. Using the technology, Jason built a prototype suit to do his heroics and test, he plans to make a better version later. He can't remember why, but while making the suit, Jason chose 'Red-X' as his alias.
Now, after having stopped a thug from mugging a young woman in an alley, Jason stood atop a roof that over looked Jump City while wearing his prototype Red-X suit. Jump City had a-lot of criminals, even rumored to have a school for villains-in-training. Yet, there was no hero to protect it, attracting trouble. That's why Red-X decided to be it's hero, but he currently didn't have a base nor any contacts.
Just as he was about to continue his patrol, Red-X sees something crash into the center of the City. Using his Grapnel and cape to glide (he doesn't have the teleportation belt yet), he traveled to the site of the crash, landing a yards away from the crater. The civilians were looking to him and the hole in the street, curious about the spectacle.
Before he could move in for a closer look, Red-X notices a figure rise from the crash, it's eyes glowing an emerald green. A laser of the same color than fired at him. He easily evaded the energy beam, however it hit a nearby car, which then exploded. The explosion caused the surrounding people to panic and run away in fear of getting caught in the crossfire.
After quickly checking for any injured, both minor and fatal, Red-X looked to the mysterious feminine figure. As the smoke started to disperse, three things about her drew his attention. The first was her orange skin, like Fanta orange not a bad tan job. Second was the fact that she seemed to be wearing some sort of armor that covered a majority of her body. Finally was that her hands and forearms for encased and bound in these thick cuffs, meaning she was some sort of prisoner.
Holding his hands, trying to his he means no harm, "Easy babe, I just want to talk," Red-X said to her. She began shouting in a language that he didn't know, and as someone who spoke every Earth language, it annoyed him. She then launched herself at him with her arms raised above her head. He dodged of course, but it resulted in her destroying another car.
While the alien girl was attacking and Red-X was evading, a young woman was watching them from an alley way. She wore a dark purple cloak that sorta blended in with the night sky.The hood of the cloak puled up over her head, obsuring most of her face. Her inidgo eyes followed Red-X as he dodged he melee attacks.
Red-X was able to get a breather when his opponent seemed to stop her assault. The female alien moved her foot under a car and lifted it with her leg before she kicked it at him. He ducked as it flew over him, with it crashing into a building far behind him.
He looked at the destruction, "I know 'hell have no fury than a woman angered', but this is ridiculous," Red-X quipped.
Taking out his red and black collapsible battle staff, he went on the offensive and hit the orange skinned girl, sending flying into a car a few yards away. Holding it to her for another attack, Red-X noticed that the staff cracked. The alien girl smirked, cracked her neck, and said something in her language before she launched herself at him once again. Beforre she could get close to him though, she was sent flying to his left by an unknown pink energy.
Looking to his right, where the attack came from, Red-X sees another girl. She was dressed in a purple and black 'sexy witch' costume, her pink hair was in twin pigtails using black ribbons, her pink eyes matching her hair, and she had slitted pupils. Overall, she looked like a witch from a harem anime.
"Hello, ex-villain Jinx at your service," waving her hand to him as she introduced herself. "Ex-villain?," Red-X asked with a raised eyebrow hidden behind his masks. " Well I was a small time criminal, but when I got my powers I decided to turn over a new leaf," Jinx said before putting her hands on her waist and cocking it to the side.
Hearing a noise coming from where the alieness was blasted to, Red-X and Jinx looked to her to see that she was somehow holding a bus up with her bound hands. She then threw the bus with great strength at the duo, both dodging it with relative ease. Before the bus could smash into anything, a somewhat bulky figure appeared out of seemingly nowhere and caught it before setting it down.
The figure wore black pants, white and black metallic looking 'shoes', a grey hoodie with the hood up, and black winter gloves. What little could be seen due to the night time light showed he was African American. His left eye was completely red and glowing. He looked to the three in front of him and demanded," Who's trashing up my neighborhood?!"
The alien girl seemed to answer by hitting the ground, causing it to shake and break apart. The heavily damaged bindings that encased her hands now fell off, revealing her hands. She lifted them to the three teens, making fists as twin balls of green energy charged around them. The others dodged as she sent a barrage of energy, destroying everything lse infront of her.
Exhausted from her onslaught, the alien girl stopped firing and dropped to her knees, trying to catch her breath. While she rested, the three young heroes were hiding behind the bus from earlier. "She could destroy the whole city," stated the new guy. "If she tries, we'll stop her," Red-X proclaimed to the other male, looking around the corner of the bus to see what she was doing.
The trio ran out from behind the bus, prepared to fight, when a bird of black energy flew high into the sky from the ground with a shrill cry. As it disappears, a voice rang out from behind them, "maybe you should try a different approach." Turning around, the three teens find a girl around their ages, covered in a dark cloak.
"Uh, hi," she said, feeling nervous from the stares she was receiving. Sighing, Red-X said,"alright, you three wait here," before walking straight to the tired alien female.
Her eyes bore into him as Red-X approached. She charged up the energy in her hands when he reached into his utility belt and pulled his lockpicks. He took off his Red-X mask/helmet when he was a few feet away from her, showing his face with a red domino mask to try and gain some trust. "Alright, let's try this again, I'm just going to take those cuffs off for you so you can talk to me more comfortably," he said to her.
Seeming to trust him this time, her hands stopped their glowing. Jason carefully stepped closer and gently grabbed the cuffs so he doesn't startle or aggravate her. As he was lockpicking, the teenage alien was breaking him down in her mind, to figure out if he is up to anything.
After a few more moments, a clank was heard before her cuffs fell to the ground. Jason went to put his outer mask back on but the orange girl grabbed his head and kissed him. The other three teens became wide eyed and slacked jawed, surprised by the action. Pulling away, she narrowed her eyes and stated, "if you wish not to be destroyed, you will leave me alone," before she flew away. Jason's gazed followed her for a moment before he put his outer mask back on.
Red-X looked to Jinx and the other two, all of whom have calmed from the kiss. "While we have this breather, why don't we introduce ourselves," he pointed to himself before continuing, "I'm Red-X, a younger and cooler Batman." Jinx went next with a wave, "hi, name's Jinx, I control mystic energy and bad luck," this caused the other three to comically step away from her resulting in an indignant, "HEY!!" The girl in the cloak said," Raven, I do magic of a wider range," referencing Jinx.
Red-X, Jinx, and Raven looked to the remaining unknown in their group, who sighed before ripping his clothes off to reveal a cybernetic body. "I'm a cyborg, so just call me that," he said, showing no imagination. Cyborg's body was almost completely metal save some of his arms and majority of his head. The cybernetics were shades of grey and black excluding the glowing red on his arms and head. (His full Young Justice appearance.)
"Well now that we all know each other, let's...," Red-X started before they heard something coming from the sky above the city's coast.
Looking to it, our young heroes saw a big space ship. Said ship then dropped a screw-like structure onto a small island in the coast of the city. A holographic image of a big-mouthed lizard-like creature appeared.
"Hello, people of Earth," the image stated, "we are here looking for a escaped prisoner, an extremely dangerous prisoner. Don't interfere, we want this done with minimal damage, but should you get in the way, your destruction is absolute." Once done with his speech, the image disappeared as thousands of aliens flew out of the structure.
"That's a big ship," Cyborg stated. The mass of aliens flew closer to the city. "Those are a-lot of ugly ass aliens," Jinx said with a sneer. Closer they flew. "They said not to interfere," Raven reminded. the horde brought out their weapons and let out a war cry as flew above the city. "Who wants to find the girl and get in their way?," he asked while raising his hand before running off in the direction she flew without an answer. The others soon followed
A Little While Later
As the alien army flew overhead, a noise came from a small video store. Inside, we find our favorite alien gorging herself on the snacks left in the closed store. Red-X, Jinx, Cyborg, and Raven quietly appeared at the entrance behind her.
"You should know that candy taste better without the wrapper," Jinx stated, stopping the orange girl's feast. Swallowing the remaining food, the alien turned to them with her starbolts at the ready.
"Whoa, easy there," Red X said with his hands up in a relaxed state. Unlike himself, the others were in battle ready positions.
"Easy? Why?!", She asked as she approached him, "What was the purpose of freeing me?". The three backed away some while Red X stayed his ground.
"To be nice and help you", Red X replied, keeping calm.
"Nice?", She states, "We do not have this word on my planet." She stalked closer to them, "The closest we have is Rutha, weak".
Manning up, Cyborg spoke "Well around here, nice, is nice, and if we are to continue to be nice, why don't you tell us why the lizard king was took you prisoner".
This seemed to calm her down once more, with the energy dissipating, revealing her green on green eyes. "Not prisoner, princess turned prize," she says, standing up straight while holding her hands together at her waist, "the Gordanians were taking me to the Citadel to live out my days as a servant."
"And the Citadel are...?", Raven asked, her interest piqued.
"NOT nice", she replied with an intense look in her eyes.
"Then your not going", Red X claimed, "not if we have anything to say about".
Before another word could be uttered, the side of the building was blown away., sending our heroes flying. They got up to see a group of Gordanians in the makeshift hole. "Seize her" commanded on e of the to the rest. The teens looked to each other before attacking the invaders, soundly defeating the fish-faces, though some retreated.
"This isn't over", Red X says as he converged with the others, "now that we've interfered..." "Trogarr will strike harder", the alieness continued, "it is only a matter of-"
"Fools", Trogarr's hologram interrupted, "the Earth scum were warned, your insolence, will be punished. Your city will be destroyed". The transmission anding as the closed in on Jump City, it's main weapon charging as it aimed.
With the teen heroes, Jinx spoke, "so ater trashing a video store, we made him made enough to destroy the town".
"Go team", Cyborg deadpanned.
Angered, the alien princess turned to Red X and growled, "All the fault is yours! I commanded you to leave me alone but you insist on the 'being nice'".
Feeling indignant, Red X replied with equal veracity, "My fault!? You attack me, then kiss me, but never stopped to explain about evil aliens with a massive laser cannon! Also, no one commands me!".
Before a fight could break out, Red X continued in a calmer tone, "Look, it doesn't matter how we got in this mess, we'll get out of it, together". Seeing all the other teenagers resolve and ready to finish this, he finished with, "Come on, we've got a city to save".
The heroes were able to sneak aboard the ship through Raven's portals, though Jinx was a little disoriented from it. The new team quietly made their way to the bridge, taking out any soldiers in their way.
Along the way though, Raven stopped suddenly. Jinx notice this and walked to her.
"Is there a problem Raven?", she asked, "Your hanging back all alone".
"I feel I don't exactly fit in", Raven replied.
Jinx put a hand on her shoulder before saying, "There's a cyberman, an edgelord, an orange alien, and I'm a pale skinned, pink haired, mystic that specializes in bad luck. Trust me you fit in fine".
Raven seemed to accept this and the two girls went to catch up with the others.
They are now just outside, Red X turned to the former prisoner, "You want to do the honors?", he gestured to the door. She nodded before blasting it down.
This drew the crews attention to the door and see the teens enter. Seeing the number of crew on the bridge, Red X states, "This will be over quickly", popping his knuckles as he did.
"Destroy this Planet!", Trogarr ordered to another Gordanian who was sitting at a control panel. Before he could press anything, the alien princess, threw a bolt and knocked him out cold.
Growling, the leader looked to the teens, ready to fight, only to receive a Red X kick to the face. For the next couple of minutes, the invaders were beaten down by the heroes using punches, kicks, energy blasts, and so on. The ship being heavily damaged in the process and crashing.
Later, with the teens defeating the Gordanians and said invaders detained by authorities, Red X and crew were watching the sunrise on the island with the pillar.
"That's quite a view", Raven monotoned, her hood down and cloak pushed over her shoulders to reveal more of herb body (TT vs JL).
"Yeah, some could build a house out here", Cyborg stated, arms crossed and wearing a smirk on his face.
"Yeah, if you like sunshine, and beaches, and us pale-skins risking it!", Jinx jokes, giving a side hug to Raven at the end.
Red X look to the alien girl and said, "You know, you never said your name".
Said alien girl had ditched a majority of her armor, making it look like she was wearing a retro sci-fi dress (TT vs JL). The other teens looked to her for her reply,
"Koriand'r", she answered, "But in your language, it is Starfire".
It was quiet for a bit.
"so, what do we do now?", Cyborg asked.
"Well, we did a good job working together", Red X said, "we could continue on as a team".
"I'm in!", Jinx exclaimed with a grin and her hand raised high. "I guess it would be fun being on a team", Raven states. "You'll need a guy like me", Cyborg replied, "plus, I already consider you all my friends".
"I would also like to stay on Earth and join the team", Starfire states. The four other teens looked to her questionaly.
"Are you sure!", Raven asked, "You said you're a princess".
"It is fine", Starfire replied, "I can still communicate with and visit Tamaran, I also like it here". The teens nodded in acceptance.
"Well", Red X started, "Now that we're an actual team, we need a base and name".
Cyborg looked to the pillar and the surrounding alien scrap, "I can build something with all of this stuff" "I can help with my Magic", Raven supplies.
While of the others made plans for their base, Red X was thinking of a team name. He remembered something from his time as Robin that gave it to him, "We should be called the Titans".
The rest of the team looked to him before Jinx asked, "Why that?".
Red X gave a smirk behind his mask, "because most bad guys have a God Complex.
End of Chapter One
