A/N: I will be making a few changes to what the novel Revan depicted, just to clarify a few things. Revan was still with his family until Vaner was six years old, and he left for the Unknown Regions, and then the events of KOTOR II happened. Revan will remain with the light side. This is a fanfiction, please don't sue me.

Prologue

Terror awaits in the Unknown Regions. Four thousand years before the Battle of Yavin, a dark and terrible evil thrives in the galaxy. The dreaded Sith Emperor, Vitiate, plans on invading the Republic not to rule over the galaxy, but to extinguish all life within it to achieve what all Sith desire... immortality. The Jedi Exile, Meetra Surik, is intent on finding her long lost friend and commander, the redeemed Jedi Knight and Former Sith Lord, Revan who has gone in search of the Emperor after visions of a time before his fall to the dark side warn him of the Republic's doom. We now find Meetra and a turncoat Sith, Darth Scourge, extract Revan from his prison to end this threat. Unbeknownst to the party, a shift in the Force millennia away, has occurred. For Revan's destiny does not end with Vitiate, but it is tied to the one who will bring balance to the Force...

Dromund Kaas-3947 BBY

In his mind, Revan could sense a great vergence in the Force. A focal point that could bring about balance or ultimate galactic destruction. The details were foggy, but the vergence itself was stretched far away from him, yet Revan could feel himself being drawn to it. This feeling was almost magnetic. Revan was pulled from this sensation when he sensed two new presences, both familiar to him.

An intake of air and the sound of clinking metal resonated through the small cell as the durasteel doors slid open. Scourge and Meetra rushed into the cell to find a man in tattered robes hunched in the corner. He lifted his face and as his eyes fixated on the Pure-blood Sith.

"Revan," Scourge tried to shake the Jedi out of his stupor.

"I'm sorry my Lord. It's good to see you again," Revan said wearily, his mind still weak from the drugs he was given and Nyriss probing his mind through the Force.

"You must listen. The Emperor is planning to invade the Republic with a force that has not been seen since the Great Hyperspace War. He plans to extinguish all life in the galaxy and destroy the Empire! If we are to avoid this war and save us all we must stop him now!" Scourge pleaded angrily.

"But how? When Malak and I encountered the Emperor when we came to Dromund Kaas, his power alone was too great to withstand," Revan said.

"A plan has been set into motion. The Empire will erupt into civil war, the Dark Council will be eradicated, and the Emperor's power will be crippled, but we must seize this opportunity now!"

Revan could see now that these events were aligned with what his senses were telling him. "Then we must act quickly if we are to stop the Emperor once and for all." Revan looked out into the distance absently, "The Force has shown me that my freedom draws near."

"The Force has shown you? You've had a vision?"

"My future lies beyond these walls."

"I don't put much stock into prophecy or visions," Scourge scoffed.

"The Force shows us in our dreams sometimes," Revan mused.

"Well, what do your dreams show you?" Revan looked past Scourge and saw a face that he had not seen since the end of the Mandalorian Wars.

"Meetra," Revan smiled warmly.

The Exile knelt next to Revan, "I knew I'd find you."

"It's been a long time," Revan said softly.

"How touching," Scourge griped, "We have bigger concerns. Darth Nyriss's stronghold is erupting into chaos."

"Scourge is right," Meetra said. "We have a small window of opportunity. We're going to confront the Emperor and end this madness before it begins. Can you fight?"

Revan looked down and shook his head wearily, "I don't think I have the strength."

"Maybe this will help," Meetra reached into the backpack she was carrying and pulled out a package wrapped in clothe. "Bastilla asked me to give this to you."

Revan looked up suddenly, his eyes wide as saucers, "You spoke with Bastilla? You saw her?"

"Yes... and your son. They are both well," Meetra said softly.

"Vaner. My boy," Revan whispered to himself and closed his eyes to reflect momentarily. He then looked upon the package and opened it. The contents displayed were his Star Forge Robes he wore in his quest against Malak, his saber that contained the crystal known as the Mantle of the Force, and lastly...

"No... it can't be."

The Mask of Revan.

Revan gently took hold of his mask gazing upon only for a moment before he started to convulse and pass out.

"What happened?!" Scourge yelled.

"I don't know. Carry him!"

Scourge tossed Revan's unconscious body over his shoulder. The three of them made their way through the stronghold until they were met by Darth Nyriss and her squad of Sith warriors.

"You don't know what you're doing! You'll bring the entire Empire to ruin!"

Scourge dropped Revan to the ground. He and Surik ignited their lightsabers preparing for the battle that would commence.

"It will be my pleasure to destroy you!" Nyriss sneered as she ignited her crimson blade. Bodies of Sith Warriors fell at Surik and Scourge's feet within mere minutes. Soon into the battle, one of the walls blew open and in swarmed a dozen of the emperor's personal troopers eliminating Nyriss's warriors and attempting to destroy Scourge and Surik. Whilst Scourge was facing off the remaining opponents, Meetra met with Nyriss in one-on-one combat. Meetra was strong, but Nyriss had an advantage. On Dromund Kaas, the Dark Side was strong.

While Revan laid unconscious, all his memories began pouring back. His childhood, days as a padawan learner, the Mandalorian Wars and the Jedi Civil War. Everything had returned to him. Revan could remember the pull of the Dark Side that dwelled inside him. But that's all he let it be. A memory. Revan recalled what Jolee Bindo told him. That one does not command the dark side. But it is the dark side that commands you. It was in this moment that the memories of his time aboard the Ebon Hawk, forming bonds and friendships that would last countless lifetimes took hold. The light inside Revan made whatever darkness his old memories carried shrink back. The convictions of Revan's heart were firm. His mission and duties in strong alignment with the Jedi. However, there was something else that made the light inside him become brighter. Something that was beyond the Jedi Council's mindset. Love. Family. Friendship. A willingness to sacrifice himself to preserve everything he held dear. But he will never sacrifice his soul again.

Revan's eyes shot opened with piercing blue light emanating from them.

"NEVER AGAIN!"

As the battle between Surik and Nyriss went on, Meetra began to falter in her attacks. She knew she couldn't hold out much longer against Nyriss. A mighty telekinetic shockwave sent Meetra flying back and landing on the floor. Nyriss sheathed her saber and raised her hands. The air around Nyriss began to crackle and become hot.

"Gaze upon me and see your doom! I am Darth Nyriss, Lord of the Sith. I am the conqueror of Drezzi, the destroyer of Melldia, and a member of the Dark Council!" The Sith Lord extended her hands forward and unleashed a torrent of Force Lightning. Surely Meetra's fate was death. But the electricity never reached its target. In a blur of a motion a figure appeared in front of Surik and absorbed the blast with outstretched hands. Everyone in the room beheld Revan, donned in his robes and mask with whisps of blue light coursing over his body.

"I am Revan reborn," Revan boldly stated as Nyriss trembled at his words. "Before me, you are nothing!"

Revan unleashed the energy he had absorbed right back at Nyriss, but the power was far amplified than what the Jedi took on! Nothing was left of Nyriss but a pile of ash. With the troopers and warriors in the stronghold had been exterminated at the hands of Scourge, the party of three made a hasty exit. As they left they noticed much of the capital has been thrown into disarray. All of the Dark Council, not just the conspirators who sided with Nyriss, have been wiped out. This led to riots across the Kaas City.

They made their way in the shadows of the city to the outskirts where Meetra had hidden the Ebon Hawk. Scourge left to scout the Emperor's Palace and see what remaining defenses were in place before the trio made their move. Revan took a moment to admire the vessel before both Surik and him entered. Revan took off his mask and roamed into the garage. Looking upon the interior, he noticed that much of the ship has changed.

"The old girl has seen better days," he chuckled. He then heard the beeping and whistling of an old friend. Revan turned his head to see next to him was T3-M4.

"T3?! How in blazes... last I saw you, we were nearly blown to bits!"

"Exclamation: Master! It is a relief to see you fully functional!"

Revan looked around and saw HK-47 coming from the main hold.

"HK! You look like you've been messing around in a trash compactor, my friend!" Revan chuckled.

"Embarrassing statement: Oh, Master! I have so much to tell you! Some foolhardy meatbags thought it wise to make duplicates of this unit and set it loose upon me! As if factory produced replica's could ever hold a plasma torch to me! You cannot replicate perfection, master!"

"Modest as ever I see."

T3 proceeded to tell Revan of his own tale, repairing the Hawk, finding Meetra, and of Surik's own quest. Revan smiled as he was recanted with the story. He placed a hand on T3's head.

"Old friend. I couldn't thank you enough for what you've done." T3 whistled and beeped, telling Revan that he has a message from both Bastilla and Vaner.

T3 emitted a hologram depicting Bastilla. "Revan, I only hope that you are seeing this message. Three years have passed, but I remain hopeful still that one day we will be united. You never had to explain to me why you had to do what you do. It was always in your nature to do what you believed to be right. Now whatever danger you face now, fight with everything that makes you as strong as you are. Be safe my love... and may the Force be with you."

Tears ran down Revan's face. The image then flickered to that of a nine-year old boy donned in robes and was sporting a padawan braid.

"Father, I know that I'll see you again. I can feel it. Beat this evil, Father, and come home to us. We need you. I can't bear not seeing my father again. The one who taught me to meditate, to open myself up to the Force, to fight for what is right and just, and who gave me all the love a son could ever possibly have. I love you, Father. May the Force be with you."

Revan bowed his head. The floor beneath him covered in his tears. He looked back at the T3 unit, smiled, and nodded.

Elsewhere in the Hawk, Meetra stood into the main the hold and looked at the holographic projection of the planet. Revan stepped up beside her while she was mindlessly watching the projection.

"You've had quite the journey, General," Revan said.

"You're one to talk," Meetra chuckled. "I have to ask, Revan... what do you remember?"

"Everything. The Wars. Both of them. Every noble intention turned corrupt by the sacrifices I made. Never again will I make such choices. During the Mandalorian Wars, I made compromise after compromise thinking that they would protect and save everything that mattered. The Republic and its people. But those choices and sacrifices nearly doomed us all."

"So Kreia was telling the truth. That you didn't fall. You made a choice."

"A bad choice. One that led me down into greater darkness. Never again. Speaking of Kreia.."

"I'm sorry of what became of her... and that I couldn't save her from herself."

"Just as my choices were mine, Kreia's choices were hers. Believe it or not, there was a time she was warm and kind. Ever encouraging to seek out knowledge for knowledge's sake. But as time went on, she became colder, more distant due to her frustrations with the council. No longer did she desire knowledge. She just wanted to be right."

Meetra only nodded. "Both I and Bastilla feared that the darkness inside of you would resurface. I sense the scars made by the Dark Side, but the Light dominates your alignment."

"Not even old memories of dark and forbidden knowledge can sway me back, but now I know how to defend against it."

"How?"

"You must embrace a choice that even the Jedi caution against. A choice that can bring much pain as it does joy."

"What is it, Revan?"

"Love, Meetra. Simply put, love. The source of Light. With it comes truth, peace, a desire for justice. "

"If it is all these things Revan, why do the Jedi forbid love."

"I suppose with all the pain and suffering that the Order has experienced time and time again they just lost sight that passion and love were two completely different things."

Meetra reflected on this momentarily before Revan spoke up. "Meetra, if it comes down to it, it shall be me who dies here. Not you. Vitiate dies today, but I will not let anyone else I care about fall by his hand. These are my last orders to you, General."

Meetra looked at Revan, eyes full of sorrow, but she nodded. Hours passed until Scourge returned. The Emperor's Fortress's have indeed been weakened, but there was still a staunch resistance. The three concocted a plan to infiltrate the Fortress. As they were heading to leave, T3 and HK followed behind.

Revan turned them, "No my friends. You cannot come with me. Not this time. I need the both of you to man the ship. T3, take this transmitter. When you pick up a signal, you and HK take the Hawk and come find us. Is that understood."

"Statement: As you desire, Master."

T3 whistled and beeped in agreement.

The sounds of riots still echoed throughout the city. Revan, Meetra, and Scourge were able to make it past the first checkpoint of the citadel undetected. What came next called for less subtlety and more conspicuous measures. Hordes of soldiers and Sith warriors made their way towards Revan, Meetra, and Scourge. A fantastic battle took place throughout the Citadel. Meetra and Scourge were a force to be reckoned with in terms of lightsaber styles, but they paled in comparison to Revan.

Finally the trio came before two decorative durasteel doors. Revan approached them and lifted his hand up.

"You cannot be serious, Revan. Even for one as powerful as you, it is impossible to breach those doors."

Scourge soon ate his own words when Revan flicked his wrist, and the doors blew apart.

"Lesson number one, Scourge. Nothing is impossible with the Force," Meetra said.

In the midst of the throne room sat a figure, cloaked in darkness, an upturned hand carrying what looked to be a ball of red fire.

The Emperor lifted his head and smiled. "Revan... I was wondering when I'd see you again."

Revan ignited his saber and pointed it at Vitiate. "This ends tonight Vitiate, Its three against one. You can't win."

"Three against one, Revan? Let's even the odds, shall we? Scourge!"

Meetra let out a scream as she was blasted by lightning from behind. Revan rushed to Meetra and held her in his arms.

"Traitor... why?" Meetra asked Scourge through gritted teeth.

"Before when I came here, I was ambushed and brought before him. It was then that I experienced but a fraction of the Emperor's power as he inflicted an anguish upon me that I cannot even fathom. I know now that you can't possibly hope to win."

"So, you sold us out to save your own skin. Now if that isn't the mark of a Sith, I don't know what is," Revan sneered.

"It was practical," Scourge shot back.

"Enough. I tire of this game of yours Revan. You were right however, this ends tonight." Vitiate threw the red fireball at Revan, but Revan used the Force to create a shield to protect him and Surik. It had done its job, giving Surik and Revan a moment to get to their feet. The two Jedi ignited their sabers. Revan faced towards Vitiate and Surik towards Scourge.

This was indeed a duel of the fates. Light against Dark. Good against Evil. Jedi against Sith. Surik battled Scourge in response to his aggressive attacks with Form V whilst Revan battled the Emperor by alternating between Forms II, IV and VI.

"I should've destroyed, you when I had the chance," Vitiate growled.

"Not your brightest decision to spare me, my Lord," Revan mocked.

"I knew I shouldn't have trusted you!" Surik spat at Scourge.

"Don't take it personally," Scourge said nonchalantly.

"I take it personally when everything that matters to me is at stake!"

Eventually Scourge and Meetra locked sabers together. Surik gathered all her strength and pushed Scourge with the Force sending him flying into a nearby pillar. Just as Scourge was about to stand up right, Meetra appeared before him and with one powerful swing beheaded the Sith Lord. She then looked back towards Revan and Vitiate and charged towards them.

Vitiate took note of Scourge's death and Surik advancing on him. The Dark Lord became annoyed with the outcome of the duel. "ENOUGH!" he yelled, the Force channeling through his voice sending Surik and Revan flying backwards. Revan was dazed and weakened by the attack and looked upon Vitiate.

"Too weak to fight, Revan? In that case, watch as I kill this woman who calls you her friend." Vitiate unleashed a powerful current of crimson Force lightning towards Surik, but Revan immediately stood in its path. Instead of absorbing the blast, Revan unleashed a wave of yellow Force lightning, which coupled with Vitiates. As Surik came to and witnessed this, she was in awe that Revan was using such an attack linked to the dark side but was drawing on it from the light! Yet Revan was beginning to struggle and fell to one knee, trying his most to sustain the wave of energy.

"Let us be clear, Revan! I do not intend to kill you! Your power alone shall sustain me for centuries to come! I sense your thoughts and who they dwell on. You shall look on in horror as I kill all those you love before you! Helpless to do anything!" Vitiate roared.

Revan knew not to let his fear and anger overcome him. He closed his eyes, but for a moment and brought forth to mind all those dear to him he was fighting for. He thought of Carth and Dustil, Mission and Zaalbar, Canderous, Juhani, and Jolee. But lastly he thought of Bastilla and Vaner. Revan's eyes shot open.

"NO!"

The Light Side of the Force manifested itself around Revan, fueling his strength and will. Revan rose to both feet continuing his attack. He began to walk towards Vitiate, closing the distance between the two, as the energy they were generating began to build up.

"YOU CAN TAKE MY LIFE VITIATE! BUT THOSE I LEFT BEHIND SO THEY WOULD KNOW A LIFE THAT I WOULD NEVER HAVE?! NEVER! YOU CAN'T HAVE THEM! YOU WON'T!" Revan declared.

All his life, Vitiate had feared only death. But now? Now he finally had something tangible to fear, or rather someone.

"STAY BACK! I COMMAND YOU!"

"YOU HOLD NO COMMAND OVER ME! AND SOON YOU WILL HOLD COMMAND OVER NOTHING!"

Revan was but a mere few feet away from Vitiate, who was now the one struggling to keep up his attack. Red and Golden energy surrounded the two. Revan closed his eyes and reached out through the Force.

"Bastilla, my love, my princess. Vaner, my precious son, my greatest creation. Know that just as the Force will be with you, so will I. My love will surround you always." With these last thoughts, Revan was finally at peace. The Prodigal Knight sent a pulse through his hands detonating the energy buildup. Meetra was sent flying back through the doorway.

A few moments passed as she came to. She rushed back towards the throne to find but a large, charred area before the throne. The Dark Side of the Force was strong on Dromund Kaas, but she felt an immense relief as it receded. With this she knew Vitiate was indeed destroyed. Though she felt the destruction of Vitiate, the same could not be said for Revan.

Coruscant-3947 BBY

In a small apartment on Coruscant, Bastilla awoke and brought her hand to her chest knowing that a strange fate befell her husband. In the room across from her, a nine-year old, sporting a padawan's braid, awoke and sat up abruptly. He put on his tunic and raced to the window looking out amongst the stars.

"Father?"

Tatooine-32 BBY

Revan felt himself being pulled through a tunnel of blue light and grey smoke until suddenly being thrust though the air into the ground. Revan struggled to get to his feet, dusting off the sand from his robes and armor.

"Correllian hell! Crash landing on Taris was far more pleasant." Revan looked around him, curious as to where he was.

"Let's see here. Scorching hot sand, twin suns, and.." Revan could hear primitive whooping and hollering. " The sound of Tuscan Raiders. Kriffing Tatooine. What in the Force am I doing on this backwater planet?" Revan began to climb over one of the dunes to meet the pleasant site of a starship of Nubian design.

He took note of two figures making their way towards it, a man and a young boy. Upon noticing the boy Revan felt the same magnetic pull he felt when experiencing a vergence in the Force. Revan reached out with his feelings and felt the boys presence.

"I have never felt a being who was as strong in the Force as this child," Revan thought, bewildered at what he sensed from this child. "But there is also great fear. Perhaps..." Revan was pulled out his thoughts when he sensed an incoming threat to the boy. He looked over to see a Zabrak approaching them on a speeder bike.

"BEHIND YOU!" Revan yelled. The man looked towards who was yelling and then behind the boy.

"ANAKIN! DROP!" To Revan's surprise, the man turned out to be a Jedi. To his annoyance, the Zabrak a Sith. The man told the boy to run to the ship and tell the crew to prepare to take off. The Zabrak's and the Jedi's sabers locked together. The Sith used his strength to send his opponent flying to the ground. Then he raised his saber above him and went in for the killing blow. But his saber was meant with a cyan blade of great power.

"Mind if I cut in?" Revan quipped. Revan and Maul began the duel. It was obvious this Sith was gifted in Form VI, but Revan went on the defensive utilizing Form II to protect the elder Jedi.

The ship began to hover above all three combatants. Revan and his new Jedi friend looked at each other and nodded. Revan sent a shockwave of the Force outward and sent the Sith flying into a nearby dune. The two Jedi's leapt onto the ship and began their ascent from the planet.

Revan sat on one of the cargo boxes and removed his helmet while the older Jedi caught his breath on the floor.

"I was unaware that there was any Jedi this far out on the Outer Rim. Did the Council send you?"

Revan was taken off guard, knowing full well that the Jedi Council was extinguished by his former master and her former apprentices. Something was off here.

"Eh... Not exactly."

The older Jedi looked curiously at Revan. "What's your name?"

Revan acted on instinct, not knowing how this Jedi might react to realizing they were in the company of Revan. "Jacen Novus, Jedi Knight."

Again, the man eyed Revan questionably before smirking and extending his own greeting, "Master Qui-Gon Jinn."

Revan slightly bowed his head before the master. Just then, the boy and a much younger Jedi came rushing in asking if Qui-Gon was alright and asking what was it that attacked him.

"I am not sure, but it was well-trained in the Jedi arts. My guess is he was after the Queen."

"You act like you never fought a Sith before," Revan chuckled.

Qui-Gon and the younger Jedi looked at each other then back at Revan.

"That is a fair inference given that the Sith have been extinct for a millennium," the younger Jedi spoke.

Revan's eyes grew wide. "What?" He began to feel a sense of anxiety overcome him. "A question if I might ask. How...How long ago were the Mandalorian Wars?"

Qui-Gon and the other knight looked questionably at each other. "The Mandalorian Wars were nearly four thousand years ago," Qui-Gon stated.

Revan stood up slowly. The room began to become dizzier as Revan's heart raced. The room began to become more faded as he felt himself falling to the floor.

"Sith's Blood," he cursed.
