In my post-Sherlock story, "Echoes from the Darkness," Mycroft tells John that he now regards John as family, same as Sherlock does. What sparked that change in Mycroft's heart? This story, which is set immediately after the Musgrave events of "The Final Problem," seeks to explain how that could have happened.

Yet another collection of micro and short stories, one recurring line of dialogue. Apparently John hears this a lot from Sherlock: "Just drop it". Different genres, varying lengths. (At times I still get bored, who'd figure.)

Back to his very first case. Never solved, but also never forgotten. The death of Carl Powers.

He just wanted his best friend to be alive again.

Sherlock just wanted a case to distract himself from John's absence (probably in pursuit of yet another girlfriend). He'll discover so many things he would never have believed.

'Again, Sherlock willed himself to go down deep into his Mind Palace. Again, he searched every inch of it, and again, he came back with nothing. This had never happened to him before. John and Sherlock are called to a case that is personal to Leatrade but comes across something none of them expected. Some advice is given to Sherlock but will the combination of the effect of this case and the advice Sherlock recives be enough to convince him to take a momentous chance.

It all starts with a sudden encounter in August 2006, and a few years later John is on a assignment abroad writing letters to Sherlock.
