Chapter 1: Romance Dawn
East blue it has been called the weakest sea, however it is said to be the home of the former Pirate King Gol D. Roger. Floating on his back on the surface of this sea lies one fishman, this fishman is a tall young sand tiger shark fishman of 6'2", looking to be about 20 years of age. He has curly brown hair in a man bun, skin of a pale brown, with dark brown eyes. His frame is that of a swimmer, with a tail, and dorsal fin. He wears black and gold harem pants, with a black and gold vest.
"Fucking Arlong." The Fishman said after sighing to himself. "I swear if I didn't owe your sister everything, I would have kicked your ass long ago."
He continued to just float there for a while longer before stretching and righting himself, taking in his surroundings.
"Alright no point in staying like this forever, let's see if I can't find land or a ship or something." He said, as he began to swim in hopes of finding salvation.
After a couple of hours of swimming the Fishman soon saw a ship in the distance that was flying a pirate flag.
"Finally, I got to say my arms were getting a little tired there. Also I'm hungry." The Fishman cheered as he began to swim closer to the pirate ship. The ship looked to be made of vera wood, the trim of the ship a purple as well as the bow/figurehead being a purple snake. Then specks of midnight blue in a line along the hull, behind the snake, and the top back of the ship. 4 anchors at the front and 2 masts. Soon he was able to see the jolly roger of the ship which depicted a crescent moon and a skull. "Hmm, weird. Do I know that one? Let me think…Eh, I'll figure it out when I get onboard." The FIshman began to swim closer to the ship.
On the deck of the ship stood a crew of pirates bustling about to get the ship moving to their destination. Soon they all stop as they hear the sound of a splash come from the ocean and something land on the bow of their ship. Standing there was the Fishman dripping water and stretching.
"Man I love the ocean and swimming but it's just a hassle when you're hungry and trying to survive." At this the Fishman looks to the crew of pirates. "Hey, y'all got any food?"
The pirates continued to stare at him for a moment longer before smiling and pulling out weapons.
"I'll take that as a maybe." The Fishman said and cracked his knuckles. "Okay bring it on..."
Sounds of fighting could be heard coming from outside of the ship as a man with orange hair, a black crescent-shaped mustache, and also sports a crescent moon shaped beard. He wore a typical pirate captain's attire with a sword in his hand, walked outside.
"What the hell is going on here?!" The man yelled as he took in the scene.
His men were all laid out with the Fishman standing there covered in bruises and panting.
"Damn pirates, all I asked for was some food." The fishman said to himself as he began to roll his shoulders.
"Hey! You! What happened to my crew?" The man asked.
"Yeah, I kicked their ass cause they were about to attack me, when all I asked for was a bit of food. Got a problem with that?" The Fishman said then asked.
"You brat!" The Man yelled and drew his sword.
"Alright, guess I got one more in me. But I'll make it quick." The fishman took up a stance.
The man came running for the fishman ready to slash at him, only for the fishman to grab his wrist, flip, and toss the man onto his back all in one fluid motion. The impact knocking the man out.
"Yeesh you guys are weak. Guess that's one thing that idiot got right…then again this is East Blue. Now let's see if you got some food." The fishman said mostly to himself as he cleaned his ear and went inside the ship to find some food.
Later on the boat found the band of pirates tied up as the fishman was sailing it in the direction it was going. A piece of bread in his hand.
"Seriously who the hell sails with so little food. It's idiotic. Didn't even have any alcohol. And I could seriously use a beer." The Fishman complained, chomping down on the bread. "Whatever there should be an island nearby, I'll use the treasure they have on board, and whatever these idiots are worth to procure some supplies. Then, it's back to Arlong Park to beat the shit out of Arlong, and then back to FIshman island to see if Madame Shyarly will give me back my old job." The fishman said to himself, a tick mark on his forehead. He soon began to come up on an island.
On the island the townsfolk all spotted a pirate ship coming their way.
"There's no mistake. That Jolly Roger...It's Crescent Moon Gally's ship." One townsperson said.
"What?! It's Crescent Moon Gally?!" Another townsperson yelled.
"What do we do Mayor?"
"He's a scoundrel whose name is becoming well known recently."
"It's heading towards this village!"
"I believe handing over our valuables is the safest option, but…" The mayor began. "If this is their aim, this is a small village.
"We should fight! What are you worrying about?" A girl about 18 years of age she is a tall and slim girl with blond hair and brown eyes. She wears a blue T-shirt and green and white shorts. She had a sheathed sword with a purple hilt and gold handguard
"Silk." The townsfolk looked at the girl before turning away and ignoring her. "You shut up."
"Don't ignore me! I'm a citizen of this town too!" Silk yelled.
"If you get involved, this is going to become a big disaster!" One townsperson said.
"Please, just stay out of this." Another pleaded.
"Anyway…! I'll try talking with them." The mayor began. "A few should stay here while everyone else takes refuge in the village."
Later the boat finally docked and the fishman disembarked from the ship, finding it to be empty. He carried a small bag of treasure on his back.
"Huh, a total ghost town. Just my luck." The Fishman jumped down from the ship. "YO! Anybody around?!" He waited a second. "Fuck."
The Fishman began walking about the town looking around. He then soon came upon the Mayor of the town standing just outside a restaurant.
"Oh look, a human. Yo." The Fishman said coming up to the Mayor.
The Mayor bowed and said, "I am this village's Mayor. We'll listen to your demands."
The Fishman looked at the Mayor confused and just blinked. "Uh…Okay? I'm just looking to get some food and procure some supplies."
"You want food? Right this way." The Mayor said pointing to the restaurant.
"Oh cool, thanks." The Fishman said, walking into the restaurant.
Inside the restaurant was Silk and an old man who was probably the owner. After being greeted by the owner, Silk drew her sword and began to attack the fishman.
"PREPARE YOURSELF PIRATE!" Silk yelled slashing at him, only for him to dodge out the way.
"Woah, Woah, Woah. I'm not looking for any trouble, I just came to get something to eat and buy some supplies for my journey." The Fishman explained. "What is up with you all? First the town is empty, then when I do find people one asks me about my demands then directs me into a trap, where I'm attacked by a little girl."
"What do you mean? Are you not Crescent Moon Gally? And I'm not a little girl, I'm 18!" Silk asked then whined, keeping her sword aimed at him.
"What? Who? No! My name is Tyler. Carpp D. Tyler to be exact. What's yours?" The Fishman now known to be Tyler, introduced.
"My name Silk, if you're not Gally, then why were you on his ship? Are you one of his crew?" Silk asked and lowered her weapon before aiming it at him again.
"I would love to answer your questions, truly, but could I get some food first and maybe some alcohol?" Tyler responded, taking a seat.
Later found Tyler eating some food and drinking beer. Silk was sitting next to him at another table just watching him eat. After swallowing he burped and released a satisfied sigh.
"Alright so you had questions for me." Tyler said, turning to look at Silk.
"Yeah, you don't seem like a pirate so why were you on that ship?" Silk asked.
"Well technically I'm not anymore. See I used to be a part of this crew called the Arlong Pirates, I'm sure you heard of them." Tyler began.
"THE ARLONG PIRATES! So you are a pirate!" Silk yelled getting out of her seat and pointing her sword again.
"Hold on, hold on. Let me finish. Yes, I used to be a part of his crew, but it was only as a favor to someone who means a lot to me." Tyler's look softened as he continued. "She wanted me to look out for him; if I could maybe change the outlook he, and the rest of the crew has on humans. If not then I could at least do some good with keeping damages minimal." He gained an annoyed look and his grip tightened on the mug containing his beer. "Though I guess Arlong never fully trusted me, sent me on an away mission with some of the crew only for them to surprise attack me and try to kill me. Suffice to say it didn't go as planned, I killed them and in the process destroyed the boat we were on."
"Wow, I'm sorry. To be betrayed when you were doing a favor for someone else, that's terrible." Silk said.
"It's fine. I'm over it, now my goal is to go back to Arlong and kick his ass." Tyler said simply. "That's why I'm here. While I was on the water I found Gally's vessel; kicked the ass of him and his crew and sailed here after raiding their ship for supplies. I was hoping I would be able to turn them in for whatever bounty they're worth."
"I'm sorry we all just assumed when we saw the ship." Silk apologized.
"It's fine. I'd react the same way if I saw a random pirate ship. We're typically a bad bunch." Tyler said, scratching the side of his face and chuckling.
"You know,.." Silk began getting a curious look from Tyler. " I'm actually the child of a pirate. An abandoned one."
"Oh? Do tell." Tyler said, paying attention.
"As a newborn, I was abandoned by my parents, pirates who raided the village. The people in the town found me and took me in. They raised me as their own without any ill-will, even though the pirates who left me had ravaged the village. That's why I don't want anyone in the town to be sad, because they are treasured people to me. I will fight for them no matter what, even if I'm alone." Silk explained, causing a small smirk to form on Tyler's face.
"Say you said you were going to turn in Gally and his men right?" Silk asked next.
"Yeah, that's right." Tyler said, curious.
"Does that mean they are on the ship?" Silk further inquired.
"Oh! Yeah. All tied up and everything. Why?" Tyler confirmed.
Silk was about to respond only to hear commotion come from outside the restaurant. They both looked towards the sound before looking at each other. Tyler jumped over his table and began to run outside with Silk trailing behind him. Outside was Gally and his men free of their bonds.
"Come on out you damn fishman! Face me like a real man! You got the drop on us last time but don't think you'll win again so easily!" Gally called out trying to draw out Tyler.
"They got out?" Silk said with worry looking at the scene. Tyler began to walk past getting her attention. "Hey, where are you going?"
Tyler ignored her and kept walking, coming out into the open where Gally could see him. He just looked at Gally and blinked.
"Here I am. We can have that rematch." Tyler said calmly and uninterested.
"Hahaha! You brat! Now we're going to end you" Gally said, taking out his sword and started to walk up to Tyler with some of his men.
"Wait, that's not fair!" Silk yelled as she slid in front of Tyler with her sword at the ready. "You guys can't all fight him at once."
"Oh? Who's this? Your little girlfriend or something. Listen sweetie, we're pirates, we can do whatever we please and there isn't a damn thing you can do to stop us." Gally then signaled for his men to attack. "Get her boys."
Two of Gally's men came charging at Tyler and Silk, their swords drawn. From behind Silk, Tyler released a sigh and pulled her back as the two came upon them. As the first went in to strike Tyler grabbed his arm and held his palm flat against the man's stomach. Shifting his weight Tyler proceeded to toss the guy, then continuing the moment Tyler pivoted on his foot and launched the back of his fist into the other guy's stomach knocking the air out of him.
Tyler stood there over the two, his look of disinterest still on his face. He then looked towards Gally as Silk from behind him looked on in amazement at his skill.
"That all you got?" Tyler asked mockingly.
Gally gained an angry look and pulled out his pistol and fired it at Tyler.
"JUST DIE ALREADY!" Gally yelled as the bullet sailed at Tyler.
"Kyaaa!" Silk screamed, looking away with her eyes closed. There was a wet squelch, then a pained shout. Silk looked back only to see Tyler holding up one of Gally's crew men in front of him, Protecting himself from the bullet. Tyler tossed the man to the side.
"Pitiful. Get going while I'm still in a good mood." Tyler said, looking at Gally with a glare.
Gally and all his crew looked at Tyler in fear and all began to run away. The one that got shot holding his wound.
"WE'LL REMEMBER THIS YOU ASSHOLE! DON'T THINK YOU'VE WON!" Gally yelled back at them.
"Dumbasses." Tyler said simply.
Suddenly there was the loud sound of feet stampeding in their direction. They both turned and looked in the direction of the noise. Coming at the two was a mob of the townsfolk, the mob surrounded Tyler and a scuffle ensued. When it broke apart, it showed Tyler sitting tied up as the townsfolk cheered.
"We caught him. We caught Crescent Moon Gally! We did it!" The Mayor cheered.
"We protected the village! We did it!" The townsfolk cheered.
"It seems he underestimated us because we're a small village." One of the townsfolk said.
"Hey, you're making a mistake." Tyler said.
"Shut up you monster." Another townsperson said.
"I suppose there was some inner dispute amongst your crew." The Mayor said.
"Mayor! Wait, that's the wrong guy." Silk said next to him.
"Silk?" The mayor looked at her confused.
"Hahaha, That's right. Good job idiots." Gally said as he and his crew turned around and came back at the sound of cheering. " I! Am Gally. My mustache and beard is a crescent moon right?!" Gally stroked his mustache.
"Eh." The Mayor said with a surprised look.
"Tried to tell ya." Tyler said.
"Damnit, I got this." Silk said and brandished her sword. "You can take me on."
Silk charged at the pirates, going to slash only for it to be parried and her to be pushed back. She began to repeat this process a few more times to no avail. The final time caused her to be knocked to the ground.
"Stop already!" The Mayor yelled to Silk.
Silk got back up and glared at the pirates. "But, we can't give in to pirates. If we hand over our valuables now more will come and it will never end. I refuse to let that happen."
"These aren't opponents we can match. We can't sacrifice our lives." The Mayor tried to reason, Silk just looked down in regret.
"Shut. up." Out came the voice of Tyler tired from watching the whole scene.
"What?!" The Mayor looked at him.
"You heard me, shut up. Who are you to deem what she is and isn't a match for. Who are you to deem what her life is worth risking over. Only she can decide that and if she wants to risk her life trying to save the people she treasures then I support her." Tyler told off the Mayor and looked to Silk, who was now looking at him. "Aren't you the one that said you would fight even if you were alone. I know you can do this Silk. So fight."
"Right." Silk said a new fire was burning in her eyes.
"Hahaha. Alright sure let's see what you got girlie." Gally said and motioned for his men to attack her.
"Now stay calm, let them come to you. Make sure to watch their movements." Tyler advised.
Silk held her sword with both hands and watched them closely. As the first person went to slash at her she dodged to the right and slashed him across the torso. Then as the next two came up she rolled under their attacks, coming up she turned and slashed at their backs. The fourth member came running up to her slashed at her only to meet her sword, the two held the stalemate.
"You've got more than a sword." Tyler said.
Silk spared him a glance before deciding to kick at the man, hitting him right in the balls and taking him out.
"Not what I meant but that works too." Tyler commented.
Silk looks back to Tyler with a beaming grin, holding up her sword. "I did it. I actually did it."
"Wait, it's not done…" Tyler went to say only for the sound of a gunshot to go off and a bullet to hit and lodge into the arm currently holding up Silk's sword.
"Hahaha. Take that you dumb brat. Maybe next time don't get so cocky." Gally said, his men began to get up and surround Silk. Silk gave them a nervous look and started to feel a little scared.
"Alright that's enough." Tyler said as his rope binding dropped and he began to stand up. "Man that took forever. Gotta say, you townsfolk know how to tie a person up."
Everyone stared at him in shock, while he just started to stretch and flex. Cracking his knuckles he looked to Gally and his crew.
"You did good, Silk, I'm proud of you. Now let me handle this." Tyler said as he began to walk up to the pirates. The group started to back away from him in fear. He smirked to himself and ran at them closing in fast before they could take off themselves.
"Fishman Karate: 100 Tile True Punch!" Tyler called out as he sent a straight punch at the group of pirates and sent them flying back crashing into their captain. "Tch. Weaklings. You alright Silk?"
"Y-yeah." Silk said, holding her arm where the bullet wound is.
"Good, now give me a second, while I beat the crap out of them." Tyler began to roll his arm before walking up to the Gally pirates and started to beat them to a pulp.
Later after thoroughly thrashing the Gally Pirates, Tyler was back on their ship preparing to disembark. Townsfolk were coming up and down the gangplank with supplies for a voyage. The jolly roger had been changed out for a normal sail.
"Are you sure I can just have all this stuff?' Tyler asked, talking to the Mayor who was standing next to him.
"Yeah, it's the least we can do for you since you saved the town, especially after that little misunderstanding. Hehe." The Mayor said, laughing cheekily when Tyler looked at him. "You gonna be okay to turn in those pirates?"
The Gally pirates were seen tied up, gagged and unconscious on the ship's deck.
"Yeah, I happen to know a Marine I can turn them into, who pays well. I also don't mind turning them into the first base I find. Reward money is reward money." Tyler said off-handedly as the mayor just nodded sagely.
"Right well, I guess this is good-bye then." The Mayor said, beginning to walk off the ship only to stop and turn. "Oh. Take good care of her, would you?"
Tyler gave the Mayor a confused look as he continued off the ship, only for the unasked question to be answered when Silk came up the gangplank with a bag on her back.
"Silk? What are you doing here?" Tyler asked.
"Take me with you!" Silk stated more than requested.
"I'm sorry what?" Tyler asked, cleaning his ear to see if it was clogged.
"I want to become stronger, strong enough to protect all the people I care about." Silk said.
"Okay. What do you need to go with me for then? Just train hard, and you will get there eventually." Tyler said, as he began to go about the ship preparing for departure.
"I plan to train hard and work hard. But I have a feeling…no, I know that if I were to go with you, then I could truly become strong. SO PLEASE!" Silk said and bowed to him.
Tyler looked at her and blinked. Scratching the top of his head, he just sighed and went back to his tasks. Silk started to tear up as she heard no response, ready to accept the rejection, when…
"Alright. You can come. But from now on you're my underling. You got that!" Tyler said, Silk looked up to see him pointing at her, a stern look on his face.
"Huh? Uh…YES CAPTAIN!" Silk yelled, saluting him.
"Wait, captain, what? Call me Boss." Tyler said his arms sagging only to regain his energy. "Anyway now that you're my underling, I need your help running the ship. Long voyages like this require more than one person."
"YES CAPTAIN!" Silk kept her stance.
The energy left Tyler once more, "I said Boss. Ugh fine. Your first task is to help me drag these idiots down into the brig, once we've set sail. For now go find a place inside to set yourself up."
Silk just giggled, "Ay ay Captain."
She went up to the back half of the ship, ignoring the passing remark of. "Boss" from her new Captain.
