After drinking the tea, Jane rested her hand on Maura's elbow. "Come on," she whispered. "Let's put you in bed."
Maura shook her head. "No, no. He'll come back, He'll do it again, and I won't be able to stop him." Her voice was fast and panicked.
Jane hugged her tight "No, no, it's okay, Maura," she said. "I'll be here. I'll make sure he won't come back."
"No, he said he would. He said he'd get me, especially if I talked to the police."
"You didn't mention that before," Jane said, surprised.
"I just remembered it. He said it when he had the knife in my side. He told me it wouldn't help me to tell the police."
"Why's that?" Jane asked gently
"Because he said they wouldn't believe me. That was before I blacked out and then when I woke up, he was gone."
Jane sighed "are you sure that's how it happened?"
"Positive I- Well, I think so. I really don't remember much. I'm sorry, Jane. I tried."
"No , don't apologize. It's okay. We'll still get him."
