For those of you who added a FAVORITE and FOLLOW tag to me and my stories, let me say thanks again, and you may notice this in your notifications. If you don't remember, when I was still new in the FanFiction Writing business, I tried to release this story. Which was a fanfiction inspired by the famous Spider-Verse comic series, and it's all about Sonic and his friends. It apparently didn't gain much popularity, but hopefully this new version will. Starting with the idea of…what would happen if Dr. Eggman swapped minds with Sonic the Hedgehog?
Another minor note is this: Some of the short alternate stories I make in this may be similar to what Sonic3CDK wrote for 'Sonic: Redone' and what other fanfiction authors wrote. I'm saying this in advance in order to avoid getting myself (figuratively) sued.

Chapter One: The Superior Hedgehog Part 1
A long time ago, in a universe far, far away…there was a planet, one blue, green, and spacious. Filled with numerous lifeforms. It was locally known as Mobius, and on the planet was a massive city called Station Square.
Most of the city appeared to be quiet as the sun rose up from the horizon. But in the local streets, crowds of citizens were running away as the sound of bombs went off. For the city capitol was going through a ruckus. A handful of explosions went off, frightening those nearby before they ran off.
Then through the next hour that passed, robots were being thrown out of the windows, causing more destruction. Until suddenly, a voice from inside the building was heard screaming, "NO! YOU MONSTER! THAT'S IT! I'VE HAD IT! OUR TIME IS NEARLY UP! So if I have to drag you out with me, then SO BE IT!" Then, from the biggest window in the front of the capitol, two peculiar figures crashed through the glass and they were falling, heading to the ground.
In the air, they screamed at each other and appeared to be…a blue animal with a red stripe above his right eye and a large human in a red and yellow cloak, with a face that was decaying. Their names were Sonic the Hedgehog and Dr. Robotnik.
"Grr! If we fall, you'll receive more damage than me!" Said Sonic.
Robotnik replied, "We'll see about that!" He pushed a button on his glove, and a small metal orb with legs jumped on Sonic's neck, stinging him. Robotnik smiled, thinking his plan would work.
Until suddenly, they crashed into a garden area. They made a small crater, and each separated by rolling after the impact. Sonic immediately stood up, not feeling too hurt as he looked back at Robotnik. Robotnik tried standing up, but coughed and had trouble keeping his arms and legs stable. Making him barely be able to sit up on his knees alone.
"What…? What happened? It should've worked. I should be back in my bo-AAH!" Before he could finish, Sonic spin-dashed him right in the back, causing him to fall and become even more injured.
"OW!" Robotnik coughed more, feeling his pain increase when he was on his back.
Then Sonic pressed his left foot on his chest, making an evil grin before saying, "Did you really think I wouldn't count on that? You using my own ES-Egg orb against me to switch our minds back? Well, guess what, hedgehog? I injected more nanites into my new system. It's what's been helping me go faster and prevent you from getting back at me. I've been planning this project for ages, and unlike everything else I've done, this one will definitely work."
"No." Robotnik moaned. "You…you aren't…getting away with this."
"That's where you're wrong…Sonic the FailureHog!" He kicked Robotnik over after revealing who he really was. He was Robotnik inside Sonic's body. While Sonic was stuck inside Robotnik's dying body.
So as the real Sonic was down, Robotnik shared his maniacal laughter and remembered, "Oh! And to make sure your friends don't interfere with our moment…" He pushed a button on his watch, looking back at the capitol, and he smiled seeing the doors and windows be shut by iron shields.
Inside, there was a female chipmunk that was running towards the front exit. Sweat ran down her head, hoping to make it out to help who she thought was Sonic. But once she came closer, the shields already fell down. Blocking her way.
"No!" She yelled. "Sonic! Oh. Please be careful." Her name was Sally Acorn, and she feared the worst for the hedgehog she loved. Not being aware of the whole situation. So she knelt down, waiting for the doors to open.
Meanwhile outside, Sonic felt his limbs getting weaker while still watching Robotnik grinning evilly at him.
He scowled at his enemy and said with a cough, "N-No. No matter what happens, I will keep fighting as long as I-I…(sigh)…can still draw a breath."
"Too bad you don't have much of it left." Robotnik moved his feet and immediately spin-dashed from one tree to Sonic. Then he did it again, and again, and again! He used Sonic's own power against him, pummeling him with speed, damaging him further as he was defenseless. Showing no mercy as he did it repeatedly.
Until soon, he stopped. Sonic was completely weak. Facing the ground, not being able to even sit up, and made more sore coughs.
Robotnik laughed again before whispering, "Had enough, rodent?"
Sonic took a moment to breathe and finally spoke. "Not quite. Listen to me. You don't have to do this. I'm running out of time, and what you're doing is sick and beyond twisted."
"That's rich," Robotnik chuckled. "coming from the child who wants to put me back in that state!" He grabbed him by the collar and punched his face. Then continued, "FOR SO LONG! FOR SO MANY YEARS, YOU HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT A THORN ON MY SIDE! Well now, I finally have the chance to end it all. You will die in my body, and I get to keep this one. I'm stronger!" He jumped and bashed him again. "Faster!" Bashed him again. "And with my IQ to boot, I. Am. Now. INVINCIBLE!" Then he kept hitting him repeatedly. Making Sonic feel he wasn't gonna last any longer before he was grabbed again. "So from now on, nothing's gonna stand in my way. Not your friends. Not any of your allies." Then he grabbed a small boulder, carrying it above his head. "And least of all…you." He was ready to throw it, about to deliver the final blow.
Until suddenly, Sonic used the little bit of strength he had left, and said, "If that's what you think…then there's only one option left." He pushed the button on his glove.
It made Robotnik freeze, for he felt something cross his mind. It was his memories. Or more accurately, Sonic's memories.
The small orb was still on Robotnik's (new) neck and through Sonic's control, it stung him again. But instead of switching their minds back, it caused Robotnik to see the memories.
For a single minute, Robotnik was back in his normal body while inside Sonic's mindscape and observed numerous panels that showed every past event of Sonic's life. Robotnik saw it all. The time Sonic first met Sally and her friends. When he saved his friends, Amy Rose and Tails, from Metal Sonic. When he first shook hands and became friends with Knuckles the Echidna. When he risked his life every time trying to save innocent people from the wrath of all his enemies. Including Dr. Robotnik. Then there was a giant panel that showed Sonic and Sally sharing their first kiss together.
The whole collection of memories seemed like too much.
It was so big that Robotnik plugged his ears and yelled, "GRR! STOP!" Then he woke up in reality, still in Sonic's body as he threw the boulder the other way. "What did you do to me?"
"You can see it, can't you?" Sonic coughed again.
"Y-Yes." Robotnik stuttered. "These memories. These experiences."
"And my friends, who are still in the building fighting right now." Sonic pointed to the capitol. Robotnik looked, and began to see back again, all the times Sonic had fun with the people he called his family. Sally, Tails, Amy, and everyone. They were still inside the building.
Sally was still sitting down in the front office as a two-tailed yellow fox and a pink hedgehog came over to her. It was Tails and Amy.
"Sally?" Amy called her name and put a hand on her shoulder. "Are you okay?"
Sally replied, "I am. But Sonic and Robotnik are still out there. I don't know if they're fighting or what but we can't get out."
"We're locked in?" Tails asked.
"I'm afraid so."
"Hang on a second." He noticed a computer. "I'm gonna see if I can hack into the security feed and look through the outdoor cameras." He ran over and began typing through the keyboard. Hacking into the system, he soon got in and the two girls viewed the screen as he did.
They looked through the feed of one nearly broken camera and saw Sonic and Robotnik currently in the garden area.
Amy asked, "Are they talking?"
Tails, "I think so."
Sally, "Robotnik…his time must be running out."
"I guess he's letting him say his final words."
Amy, "Then…should we just wait until it's over?"
"That seems like a yes. But let's see if I can still open the shields somehow." Tails began typing again, hoping to open the shield doors and go to Sonic while the two enemies were still talking to each other.
Robotnik suddenly looked down in shame, and Sonic saw tears come out of his eyes.
"How?" Robotnik spoke again. "How can you handle all of this? This guilt. This sense to only fight the ones who you see that are bad?"
Sonic breathed heavily, "Because…I do it to protect my family. You did all the fighting because you wanted to control everything. But ever since you swap minds with me…I've felt something different about you. You wanted to stop. Despite all your planning, you wanted to stop fighting. You wanted to protect Sally and the others when I arrived. And it wasn't because you wanted the glory."
"No. No, you're wrong! I'm not a hero. I'm not you! I'm not someone who…deserves this kind of life. All these adventures and the things you learned is too much. It's too much!"
"But it's too late. I've gained your memories too. I've seen how and why you did all this for so long. But now, you made this choice. Trading my life for your own. Now you'll get to live with it…and eventually, make up for it. You're…the next Sonic Hedgehog. Hero of Mobius."
"No, I can't. This is not me."
"It's too late. I…I can't do anything about it now. You've changed, Eggman. Now…" Sonic, with Robotnik's voice, began to sound queasy. "own up to it. I saw how you protected my friends. Now, don't stop. Protect them. Protect my…our friends. Protect them. Protect them." He whispered his final words and didn't say anything next.
Robotnik walked over closer to him, and looked at what was his own face. He could see it in his eyes…that it was over.
"I did it." Robotnik whispered to himself, and knelt down in shame. "I won. After all these years, I finally defeated…Dr. Robotnik." He drew tears and didn't say anything else.
Back in the front office, Amy, Sally, and Tails were still watching the monitor.
Amy questioned, "What are they saying?"
Sally, "I don't know but…I think he's dead."
Tails, "Dr. Robotnik is dead? I never thought I'd see it. Or to see Sonic be the one to witness it up close."
Robotnik, still alive in Sonic's body, didn't feel anything but tramaization, butterflies in his stomach, and the need to run away. He didn't know what to do, knowing that he had received the victory he always wanted, and felt nothing. Until, multiple cop cars came over by the parking area, and the shield doors began to open.
Robotnik turned and saw his three "friends" come to see him.
"Sonic!" Sally came over and hugged him. Same as Amy did.
Amy, "Are you okay?"
"I…I…" Robotnik hesitated to answer. But quickly replied, "I'm okay. Robotnik, on the other hand…"
Tails, "He's really gone?" He stared at the corpse.
"Afraid so."
Amy, "Wow. When he threw you and himself out the window, I didn't think he would receive this much damage. I also never imagined myself feeling this bad to see him in this state."
"I know, but…now it's over."
Sally, "What did you say to him?"
"Nothing…" Robotnik lied. "All I did was get up and let him say his final words. He knew he was dying and wanted to share his remorse. Believe it or not, Robotnik actually said he took back every mistake he made."
Sally and the others felt surprised but believed their "friend", and they saw the cops. They exited their vehicles, and placed Police Tape by the capital front gate, not wanting the civilians approaching to intervene as they noticed the Freedom Fighters in the garden. The team noticed many camera flashes go off.
Sally shed a tear, feeling thankful that their life long battle was finally over. So she said, "Guys? I think the cops can handle this now. Let's go home."
"R-Right. It's been a long day for all of us." Robotnik said, knowing that "his" team remained unaware of who he really was.
So the four walked away to the front gate as the sunrise was getting higher. But "Sonic" looked back at the corpse, and stood still for a moment. Scowling at it, and said in his head, "I did it. I did it. After so long, so many years, and so many failures…I finally defeated Sonic the Hedgehog. This is all I ever wanted. To conquer the world and stop him from getting in my way. But now, I don't feel happy. All I feel is…guilt. Depression. And a sense to do something about it. This doesn't prove that I'm better. All it proves is that I'm willing to go too far, but…Sonic didn't see it that way. He said to own up this new change. And he's right. Sonic, I am now a new man. I have your body, your sense of morality…and more." Then he looked up at the morning sky. "I have your powers, everything that made you who you are. I promise you, Sonic. I will protect your friends. But they still aren't my friends. This isn't my life. I will be a hero, but not the one you want me to be. I will be a better hero than you ever were. I'll become Sonic…the Superior Hedgehog."

Ooh. Now how's that for a twist? In case you guys have never heard of it before, there was a comic series called "The Superior Spider-Man." It was about this big event where Doctor Octopus had gained a lot of fatal damage to his body due to what I think was a recent battle. So he swapped minds with Peter Parker in order to save himself. With that, he had some evil intentions with his new powers, but while being in Peter's body, he gained his memories and learned of the reason why he is Spider-Man.
Peter tried to switch back, but it was too late. From there, Otto (partially) understood his ways. Making him decide to become a better Spider-Man, or better in his way. And that story becomes significant to the Spider-Verse series, where he joins the army of Spider-People across the multiverse, and (WAY PAST SPOILERS) I am making the same adventure here with this story.
This series will go over numerous versions of Sonic the Hedgehog and friends made by me, and possibly based on other ideas. These stories will be established in a series of alternate shorts and more, and eventually lead to a new multiversal battle of every Sonic character coming together to fight a great evil. And it's first story: Sonic the Superior Hedgehog. The idea of what would happen if Eggman swapped minds with Sonic…and became a new kind of hero? This is only part 1 and the next will continue soon.
