Chapter 1: Colloseum Clash
A small pod flew into the direction of a massive space craft.
This pod belongs to none other than Foolscap.
Who was just returning from his failure to acquire the Yellow Cosmos Stone.
Inside the craft, a red man noticed the return of his colleague.
"Huh? Foolscap came back but he isn't showing his face. That means he failed to get the Yellow Cosmos Stone and I'm still the best!"
The red mans laughter at his teammates failed mission was interrupted by a feminine voice.
"Actually, you're a big failure. You didn't get the stone either!" She said before stomping on the mans head.
"Shear, I hate it when you do that! Particularly after you clean the dinosaur cages."
"I'm just trying to get it through your thick head Gabbro, that I'm better than you are. Now say 'Shear is the best, Shear is the fiercest and toughest.'"
"OK. Shear, you're the best, the fiercest and the toughest."
"Shear?" A child asked. "You really have the bar set that low?" The boy walked into the light revealing himself to Gabbro and Shear. "Sir." Shear greeted him.
"Sir? Seriously? That's how you greet your king? Pathetic."
This didn't go well with Shear or Gabbro but Goma didn't really seem to care.
"Oh, and what's this I hear about being 'the best, the fiercest and the toughest'?"
The duo gave him warning glares, knowing what he usually makes them do afterwards.
"Don't look at me like that. Now both of you, say 'Lord Goma is the best, the fiercest, toughest and ruler of the shadow empire!'" He ordered them.
But before they could, an awful singing voice interrupted echoed through the room.
"It's grandpa!" Goma said. Recognizing the voice immediately.
"My special one, you're such a joy!" A man sitting on a chair appeared on a massive screen.
"Is he talking to us?" Gabbro asked in confusion.
"Shhh!" Goma hissed. "Don't interrupt him while he's singing to Brontikens!"
"You're a good boy! And we had fun chasing that comet, didn't we?" The man, named Spectre. Who was the leader of this group. Asked the miniature Apatosaurus sitting on his lap before addressing his henchmen.
"I am very upset! Two of my men have failed at getting the Yellow Cosmos Stone. Foolscap! Stop hiding and give me your pathetic explanation!"
Foolscap was teleported into the room, quivering in fear as he tried to explain himself.
"Boss, I swear it wasn't my fault! I had it in the palm of my hands but then those medaling little kids took it from me!"
"Ugh kids stopped you too?" Shear was getting tired of these kids that somehow managed to beat Gabbro's Torvosaurus.
"For some reason, I don't believe the part where you had it in the palm of your hands." Goma commented.
"That's really embarrassing. That kids stopped you." Gabbro said, completely oblivious to what happened to him earlier that day.
"Wait-" Shear and Goma were both cutoff by Gabbro.
"Foolscap, you're pathetic!"
"Ha! Gabbro, you're just to thick to remember kids beat you too. And anyone who can beat me, can beat you because I'm way tougher!"
"If you're so much tougher than me, than how come when we wrestled. I squashed you flat like a pancake?"
"That's because you sat on me when I wasn't looking. It wasn't fair! If it was fair, I would've creamed you!"
Shear just looked confused while Goma pulled a bag of popcorn.
"Enough!" Spectre yelled at them.
"You're upsetting Brontikens. I don't care who's tougher or smarter. What I want, is for someone to go to ancient Rome and and get that Yellow Cosmos Stone! And that person, will be you! Shear."
"I won't disappoint you-" She was cutoff by Goma.
"Hey grandpa, why don't you let me give it a shot?"
"I'm afraid you're too young, Goma. Shear must be the one to go."
"But grandpa, I can get the stone! How can you expect me to become a king if I can't execute a task as simple as this one?"
The three other pirates in the room all looked at the boy with distaste.
Who did he think he was? His stupid family was the whole reason they even need to embark on these missions.
"Are you sure?" His grandfather asked with concern.
"Yeah, I promise I'll do it in the blink of an eye!"
"So be it, these will help you on your mission." Spectre said as a bunch of cards fell from the ceiling.
"Dinosaur Cards?" Goma wondered.
"Indeed. Use them to get the stone. Good luck." Spectre instructed before he disappeared from the screen.
Foolscap took an interest in one of the cards. "Woah! This is another one of those big dinosaurs with the long necks!"
"Those 'big dinosaurs with the long necks' are called Sauropods." Goma explained.
"How do you know?" Gabbro asked the young pirate.
"Because unlike you morons," he started as he examined a fire card.
"I actually looked into the dinosaurs from the moment we started collecting them. I know all their advantages and weaknesses." He bragged before looking at the card with a devilish smirk.
"And I know that I won't need all of these cards to deal with those kids. Not when I have this, Giganotosaurus."
Meanwhile, in Rome. Terry was struggling in his restraints.
It didn't get any better when a prisoner threw a sharp object at his tail.
Outside in the colosseum, Max was able to hear the roars of the raging Theropod.
"Huh? I know that roar. It's Terry's!" Zoe and Rex also took notice of the roars.
"It's coming from the other side of those bars." Zoe said as she pointed to the gate next to them.
"How can we get in?"
Meanwhile, someone snuck into the gate on the exact opposite side of the Tyrannosaurus.
It was Goma. Wearing a robe with a hoodie that covered most of his face.
However, he didn't go completely unnoticed.
"Hey kid!" A guard called out to him. "What do you think you're doing in here?"
Goma simply ignored him and kept walking.
But the guard wasn't just going to let him off like that.
"Unless you want to get eaten by the great beast, you'll go back to your parents!" The guard said as he grabbed Goma by shoulder.
Goma then removed the disguise revealing himself to the guard.
"A-are th-those WINGS?"
Goma then pulled out purple shurikens before he threw them at the guard who barely dodged.
The guard then ran for his life while screaming in horror.
"What's wrong?" Goma mocked. "You going back to your parents?"
Meanwhile, a door opened which the D-Team took notice of.
Two guards walked out with Ursula, Zander, Ed and a guard who was carrying their scanners following behind.
Then, the massive gates opened as Terry walked out, with over a hundred soldiers waiting for him outside.
"Terry's weak. He can't defend himself." Rex pointed out.
"Chomp, you've gotta go help Terry." Max instructed his partner before summoning him to his full size.
"Alright Rex, while Chomp saves Terry you and I can try to rescue the old lady." Zoe told her friend.
Though this didn't go unheard.
"We're gonna have to get their Alpha Scanners too."
"Max, stay here while we rescue you know who."
"The old lady?" That didn't go unheard either.
Goma flew outside and saw Chomp roaring at the soldiers.
"A Triceratops and a Tyrannosaurus Rex? Awesome!" He said in amazement before pulling out his card and placing it on his chest.
"Maybe I could take one home as a suvonyier…"
The Giganotosaurus materialized before giving a loud roar that made Terry's sound like a cat in comparison.
This dinosaur was also far larger than Terry, or Spiny, or Carcharadontosaurus.
"Wait… where did she come from?" Max asked in shock from the appearance of the giant carnivore.
He then noticed the pirate flying towards him.
"Hahahaha you must be with the D-Team, correct?"
"H-how did-"
"I am the grandson of the founder and leader of the Spectral Space Pirates! I am Goma!"
"Grandson? Founder? Goma?" Max couldn't wrap his head around everything that was going on.
"By beating you, I'll be able to take over Rome. And get that Yellow Cosmos Stone easily!"
"Oh yeah? Not if we can help it! Chomp will take care of you."
Goma then flew up so he could get a good view of the battlefield.
"Let's go!" He signaled to the Giganotosaurus who charged straight towards Terry and Chomp.
Her thunderous footsteps scaring off the remaining soldiers.
"She's dangerous!" Max said to himself.
"I need to finish her off before she can active that armor. Electric Charge!"
After Max swiped his Move Card, Chomp was struck by a lightning bolt and charged full speed at his opponent.
The Giganotosaurus didn't seem fazed in the slightest. In fact, she started to pick the pace.
When Chomp was about to strike, she bit him on the frill ignoring the electricity, and hurled him across the colosseum causing him to slam into a wall.
"Chomp!" Max called out to his partner.
The Giganotosaurus thankfully, left Chomp alone after that.
But that was because her next target, was Terry.
"That T-Rex will make a nice addition to the dinosaurs we already have." Goma said to himself.
"Bring him back to me alive, Giga." However, this didn't go unheard.
Max's eyes widened. "Oh no! Terry!"
He may not have had a close connection to the Tyrannosaurus.
But as far as he was concerned, his mission was still to protect all dinosaurs.
Giga charged at Terry who stood his ground.
When she was just inches away from him he sidestepped and bit onto her neck with all his strength.
"Way to go." Max cheered for the Alpha Dinosaur.
"Ha! It'll take a lot more than that to take down my big, bad, Giga." Goma bragged.
Giga slammed into Terry causing him to completely let go. She then lifted and threw him behind her.
She turned around to finish him off. But Chomp was already charging at her, even faster than before.
And before anyone knew it he chomped on her leg. Causing her to give out a loud roar of pain.
"Oh yeah!" Max cheered.
Although, Chomps success didn't last.
Giga managed to kick Chomp off, sending him flying until he landed on top of Terry.
"No! I put Chomp out there to help Terry, not hurt him." Max said before a realization hit him.
"If they become too weak, Sulla or Goma might just capture them both." He looked like he was about to cry.
Thankfully, Rex and Zoe came back and they had company.
"Hey Max, guess what? We saved the Alpha Gang and their scanners!"
"Oh thank goodness!" Max let out.
"Never thought I'd actually be happy to see you three."
However, Ursula's mind was on other things.
"Did you guys see where the pizza vender went?"
"Both of our Dinosaurs are in danger!" Max yelled at the woman.
"Do you not see what's going on over there?" He asked, pointing a finger to the battlefield.
"Relax kid." Ursula hissed as she looked into the direction Max was pointing.
She did see a very worn out Terry and Chomp standing in front of him protectively.
"OK, that's weird."
She then looked in the direction of a loud roar and thunderous footsteps that earlier, she just assumed was Terry's.
"WHERE DID SHE COME FROM?" The tall woman yelled in horror once she finally saw Giga.
"That's what I've been saying! Now help me out here." Max said before pulling out a Move Card. "Lightning Strike!"
"I guess I don't really have a choice." Ursula complied as she pulled out her Move Card. "Neck Crusher!"
Chomp struck Giga with lightning, temporarily paralyzing her.
Long enough for Terry to lift her into the air and smack her away with his tail.
When she landed, Goma decided it was time to activate his secret weapon.
"Not bad, but that's nothing compared to Spectral Armor!"
The Alpha Gang looked at the armored dinosaur in terror.
"They can all do that?" Zander asked in shock.
"Yeah, we kinda forgot to fill you guys in on our last fight with one of these Space Pirates." Max told them.
Terry and Chomp charged while Giga remained put.
Goma then pulled out a new card.
"I saw what your Move Cards can do, so how about I show you mine? Elemental Power!"
A powerful, fiery, aura engulfed Giga before she released it. Sending the flames everywhere. Even reaching the crowd.
The flames knocked Chomp and Terry away like feathers.
Everyone started screaming and running as fast as they could to make it outside.
"Hahahahaha! Show them your true power, Giga!"
Giga then turned two of the flames into massive fiery whips.
She tried to slam Chomp and Terry with the whips.
All they can do is dodge, but they can't dodge forever.
Max's Dino Bracer was blinking red and so was Ursula's Alpha Scanner.
"Terry and Chomp can't take much more of this!" Ed said worryingly.
"We need to put Ace, Paris, Spiny and Tank out there." Rex instructed them.
"If we put any of our dinosaurs out there, someone will have to be a meat shield in order for any of us to even get close." Zander pointed out.
That gave Max an idea. "Wait! None of you need to summon anyone else."
"Why not?" Zoe asked. Her and everyone else looking very confused.
Her answer was Max ejecting a Move Card from his Dino Gadget. "Tag Team! Protect Chomp and Terry from those whips"
Pawpaw appeared above Chomp saving him from Giga's attack, and then ran towards Terry. Saving him as well.
"What in the?" Goma was at a loss for words.
Even Giga looked shocked because she put all of her strength into those two hits.
Chomp and Terry gave Giga a glare that told her, she was dead.
She didn't worry too much however, as she started to glow red again. Which meant another Elemental Power.
"Here she comes again. be prepared, Pawpaw!" Max instructed the Pawpawsaurus.
But before Giga could even complete her move, Ursula swiped a triangular Move Card. "Critical Block!"
Three Velociraptors started pouncing on Giga and canceled out her move.
"Wait! No! You can't do that!" Goma wined like a brat.
"Yes, we can, brat. Now finish her off brat!" Ursula told the brunette.
"Right" Max complied as he pulled out Dr. Z's new Move Card. "Plasma Anchor!"
Chomp fired an anchor of electricity.
The Velociraptors leapt off of Giga allowing the anchor to get ahold of her.
Chomp then lifted her into the air and slammed her into the ground.
Destroying the Spectral Armor and turning her back into a card.
"We did it!" Everyone aside from Goma, cheered.
The dinosaurs gave victorious roars before they were all called back.
Max then picked up Giga's card and Move Card and gave Goma an incredibly smug look.
"D-do-don't get it twisted! I haven't lost!"
"Heh, really now?" Ursula mocked.
"Dammit! Your planet must have superior mathematics. But I'll be back! Be thankful you won this time!" Goma declared as he flew off.
"Wait, what about our parents?" Rex tried to get the pirate to return. And although Goma heard him, he just kept flying.
"Damnit." Max hissed.
"You guys! Where did Sofia go?" Zoe asked causing everyone to remember the whole reason they were even here.
"She must've gone to find Spartacus!" Max realized.
"Then let's go help her."
"Right!"
Meanwhile, Goma returned to the ship, looking very embarrassed.
"So, where's the stone?" Foolscap asked as he and Gabbro revealed themselves to him.
"Sigh." Goma sighed.
"Those kids defeated my dinosaur." He answered with embarrassment.
"Tell Shear that she should probably get going now." He instructed them as he flew out of the room.
"Hmph. I don't even know why Spectre still bothers with that spoiled, little, shit." Foolscap whispered.
"Maybe, it's because he's his grandson?" Gabbro guessed.
"No shit, Sherlock."
Goma went into his room and decided that it was time for some much needed rest.
"Sigh." He sighed as he prepared to sleep.
"Hopefully Shear can get that Cosmos Stone. Because if she doesn't, grandpa himself will have to go, and may god have mercy on all of Rome when that happens."
He finally shut his eyes. But something made a ringing sound which disturbed the young pirate to say the least.
He picked up the device, which was basically a phone.
"What do you want?" He asked the person on the other side.
"That's not a very nice way to say 'hello'." A man answered.
This man was sitting in a laboratory, while experimenting on a small, blue, Theropod.
Which was currently roaring in agony in a freezing cage.
"I don't care, and I don't intend to spend another two hour conversation on the phone with you. So what do you want already?" Goma asked.
"Your grandfather has noticed that you failed to acquire the Yellow Cosmos Stone."
"So?"
"He recommends that you no longer go on anymore missions."
"Well, I recommend, he doesn't recommend this again."
"He's just looking out for you."
"I know, and I appreciate his concern, but I can take care of myself, Seth."
And that was the first chapter. Not gonna lie, I didn't really know what to do with the first two chapters at first. Mainly because Goma's development and backstory starts during the third chapter. But I believe this was a good introduction to the character. Also, yes. I know Elemental Power doesn't actually do that. But since Attack Burst and Defense Burst in the anime, were both vastly different from the way they are in the game, I thought it was a good idea to represent Elemental Power in a different light as well. Having said that, see y'all in the next chapter.
