Detective Jane Rizzoli pulled up to the crime scene, something she had done a million times before. Never before had one of her family members been the prime suspect though.

She immediately spotted her brother Tommy sitting on a curb outside of the bar, his hands behind his back handcuffed.

He had a rather large bump on his head and a gash over his eye. Jane could safely conclude that probably happened when he slammed on the brakes a little too late as his truck went barreling into the bar but not before taking out a priest.

Not just any priest. Their priest. Her ma would have to say a lifetime of hail Mary's for this one.

"Rizzoli, you know you can't be here!" Jane heard her Lieutenant's voice bellowing from outside her closed window as he approached her. She rolled her eyes and let out a heavy sigh before climbing out of the car.

"I'm not going to interfere."

Her eyes followed the paramedics as they wheeled Father John by on a stretcher.

"Is he going to be okay?" She asked, turning back to Cavanaugh.

"The paramedics seemed to think so. He got lucky; or should I say, your brother did. If the priest died, he'd be looking at…"

"No one knows more than me what he'd be looking at," Jane said sharply, cutting off her boss.

"Can I talk to him? Tommy, I mean."

Cavanaugh nodded. "Sure. Go ahead but make it quick."

She made her way through the surrounding crowd and over to her brother. "You really messed up this time Tommy." Jane remarked as she came to a stop in front of her brother.

Tommy's eyes shot up to look at his sisters. "Janie, I, I,"

Jane shook her head. "What the hell were you thinking?! I see rehab did a lot good for you."

"C'mon Janie, it, it was an accident." Tommy remarked, obviously still intoxicated.

"Oh, it was an accident. Guess that makes it all okay then. You could have killed someone tonight, Tommy! What the hell are you doing driving anyway? Your license is suspended!"

Silence fell between siblings as an EMT came over to render attention to the gash above Tommy's eye. Once he walked away Tommy looked back up at Jane.

"You gotta help me sis. Please."

"I'm sorry Tommy but my hands are tied. You really screwed up this time. This isn't something that can be fixed with the promise that you'll go to rehab and counseling. I've put my reputation on the line for you too many times. You have to man up and deal with whatever consequences are going to come."

She didn't like having to refuse Tommy of her help but it needed to be done. Her parents were always the softest on him and it was time he learned what tough love was. It was time he owned up to his mistakes.

Tommy's face hardened with anger as he looked away.

Jane looked up when she heard approaching footsteps.

"Times up Rizzoli. They need to take him." Cavanaugh said as he nodded to two other officers.

Jane watched as they hoisted Tommy to his feet.

Tommy grunted before being escorted to an awaiting car. Jane knew not to take it personally. The alcohol coursing through his system was more in control than Tommy realized.

Sighing heavily, she looked at her boss.

"Go home Jane. There's nothing else you can do here." Cavanaugh said with a hand to her shoulder.

"Yeah." She replied as she turned to head back to her car. She was quickly surrounded by the media as she stepped under the police tape. Ignoring the questions, she got into her car and drove away.
