A Royal Honor
Third Person's P.O.V.:
It was a normal day at castle Cair Paravel, home to the six friends the kings and queens of Los Angeles and Narnia. Their descendants if one may be bold to add. Oh, we can't forget her brother Jayden of course, sorry Jayden. How would they define normal? Well, it would be meeting with their council and taking care of matters within the court of Los Angeles and Narnia. Their story is quite awesome, but we'll save it for another day. Anyway, Queen Lauren was speaking with Tolbus when her lady in waiting Assia came into the Great Hall.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"Lady Assia," I said surprised rising from my throne. "Queen Lauren. I'm sorry to bother you," she curtsied. "Is everything alright," I asked. "No, it's your brother Jayden. I walked by his room today and heard him sobbing, "she admitted. "Did he say what he was sobbing about," I asked her. "No, my queen. I wanted to ask but I couldn't," she answered. This is rare that someone mentioned Jayden crying, I thought. Normally he keeps it in. "Thank you for letting me know Assia, I'll talk with Jayden," I told her walking down from my throne and out of the Great Hall. I heard Jayden's cries following them to his chamber before bumping into Logan. King Logan excuse me, my best friend, boyfriend, and descendant of King Caspian the Tenth. "Lauren, I'm so sorry for bumping into you," Logan said coming over to me. "I'm fine Loges. What are you doing out here," I asked shaking off the smarts. "I heard crying and thought that was you," he told me.
"No, it wasn't me. It was Jayden," I answered. "What's Jayden upset about," Logan wondered. "I don't know," I told him before knocking on Jayden's door. "Jayden, you in there? It's me Lauren and Logan's here too," I told the door. "Come in," he sniffled. I opened the door and Logan walked in with me. We found Jayden on his bed and his eyes red and puffy from crying, hair misplaced a bit and just not pretty. His clothes were a little misshapen from lying on the bed. "Hey Jayden, you okay," Logan asked. "No. Just stunned and heartbroken," he admitted. "What happened," I asked coming near him. "Well, I was about to join you guys in the Great Hall when one of Lauren's ladies told me that someone was on the phone asking for me. I told them I would be there soon; but they told me it was very urgent. So, I answered the phone and found out that, that," he explained before choking up a sob.
"What," I wondered. "That Tommy Oliver has died," he said before crying again. "Tommy Oliver, the veteran Power Ranger," Logan and I gasped. "Yes," he sobbed. I was stunned and so was Logan. We heard of the Power Rangers when we were young, but this was a surprise. A ranger who was an icon to us as kids and won an award in his hometown for being an awesome member of his community. "Oh Jayden, I'm so sorry to hear that," I said hugging my brother. "It's alright Lauren. I'm just stunned and shocked. He's gone too soon," he sniffled. "Did they mention how he died," Logan asked. "Not sure. They're still figuring it out," he told us. It's hard to believe and think that the veteran green ranger well an icon is gone.
"Jayden," I said, still hugging him. "Thanks Lauren. I can't believe he's gone. I told him everything about you when me and my friends went to help Super Megaforce a few years ago. He really wanted to meet you and the guys," Jayden told me. "He did," I asked. "He did, and I wish I had the chance to say goodbye," Jayden cried a little. "It's okay Jayden. I know it hurts," I said giving him a little hug. His chamber door knocked.
Logan's P.O.V.:
"Enter," I commanded. The door opened and I could see Carlos, Jo, James, and Kendall come into Jayden's room. "Hey, we heard sniffles is everything okay," James asked. "Jayden's upset," I informed them. "What happened," Carlos asked. "A good friend of his, well more like mentor to him just passed away," Lauren told them. They gasped and looked at one another. "Was it," James asked. "Tommy Oliver," I told them. "Tommy Oliver, "they gasped. "Yes," Lauren nodded. "Oh. Jayden were so sorry to hear that," Jo said hugging him. "Thank you, Jo. Thank you, guys. I honestly miss him, and I just didn't expect it to be today with the news," he told us.
"You didn't," I asked. "No. I thought it would be many, many years from now it would happen," Jayden explained. "Ah," we realized. "Yeah, but I wish I had the chance to say a final goodbye and now I won't," Jayden cried into his pillow. "I know Jayden. But he did what was right by sacrificing himself to protect others and honestly that's the bravest thing anyone would do," Lauren told him. "Yeah, even our knights would do the same thing if they were in his shoes," I agreed. "You guys think so," he asked. "Of course, and even now, he'll watch over you and all Power Rangers past, present, and future as a guiding light and mentor," Kendall smiled. "And Jayden, were here for you if you need someone to talk to and cry to," Lauren told her brother. "Thanks guys. I love you all," Jayden smiled feeling a little better. "Come on guys, group hug for Jayden," James smiled as he joined Lauren and I in hugging Jayden. Carlos, Kendall, and Jo were there too comforting Jayden. One of Lauren's servants came into the room. "Your Majesties," she bowed. "Oh Lily, you startled us," I realized. The others were already out of the hug.
"No, I didn't realize my king. Is everything okay," she asked. "Yes. Jayden's upset right now but everything is fine," I told her. "Lily, can you summon General Orieus to the Great Hall immediately please," Lauren asked. "As you wish my queen," she curtsied leaving the room. "Well, we better get back to the Great Hall," I told them as we got up.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"You going to be okay Jayden," I asked holding Jayden's hand. "I think so Lauren," he smiled as we arrived back in the Great Hall. "I'll be right here," I told him. Orieus was there waiting for us. "Your Majesties, Sir Jayden. I'm surprised you called for me at short notice," he bowed. "No need General. I'm sure you saw that," Logan explained. "Tommy Oliver has died, yes. News has been spreading around court. Allow me to be the first to offer my condolences to you Jayden. He sounded like an amazing person to you, more like a mentor. May Aslan grant him entrance in his country," he smiled. "Thank you General," he smiled. "You're welcome. If it may be Their Majesties wish, we can have an honor guard," he started to say before I lifted my hand to tell him silence. "For right now, have the guards lower all flags at Cair Paravel to half-staff in memory of Tommy Oliver. Notify all our allies abroad so that they may do the same if they wish," I told Orieus. "Of course, Queen Lauren, anything else," he asked. "Summon the royal council please," I told him. He bowed and went to tell the guards. I smiled.
"What are you planning Lauren," Jayden asked seeing me smile. "I was waiting until the time was right, but I think Aslan told me now is the time to tell you," I said to Jayden. "Tell me what," he asked. "I'm going to put a motion forward to the council. Tommy did a brave thing by giving up his life as a Power Ranger to protect Earth. That is like many of the knights in the Most Noble Order of the Lion would do," I explained. "That I couldn't agree more dear one," a rich voice sounded. We turned to see who said that. We turned and standing in the entrance of the Great Hall was Aslan, the king of beasts, the Great Lion in his majestic glory. The centaur guards and satyrs along with many other people knelt and bowed as he stood there before walking to us. We knelt before him. "Rise, Kings and Queens of Los Angeles and Narnia," he greeted warmly as we all rose, not Jayden who still knelt. "Including you Jayden," he told him. "I can't Aslan," he told him with tears streaming down now. He looked at him. "Come, put your hand in my mane," he told Jayden. He got up and petted Aslan's mane mingling some of his tears in his fur. "Why is your brother weeping Lauren," he asked me. "A friend more like mentor to him has passed away Aslan. His name was Tom," I started to say. "Tommy Oliver. Yes, I knew him from the very moment he was born and knew very well today he would come home to my country," he told us.
Jayden's P.O.V.:
"Is, is he in your country now," I asked. "Yes, he is. He told me he is very grateful for what he did on Earth protecting the world at all costs even with his last breath," he explained to us. "Aslan, if I may ask how he died," James wondered. "He was helping his friends protect their hometown, Angel Grove from an enemy they dealt with before. This time, in a different form and wanted revenge on him," Aslan started to say. "Revenge," I asked. "Yes, from Rita Repulsa," he told us. "That's impossible Aslan. I thought Rita was redeemed when Andros broke Zordon's tube," I said stunned. "True; but her evil spirit remained in the open and someone was able to cast her evil side in a new body one that can't be broken," he explained.
"What happened then," Logan asked. "After her evil spirit was placed in the new body, she tracked down Tommy and his friends to Angel Grove where she engaged in a battle with them. She got Trini but before she could strike her, Tommy sacrificed himself by taking the blow for Trini," he told us. Wow. He did that for her?! "As a result, he died from the wounds inflicted by the blow, but his last words were protect the Earth, defend it. Once a ranger, always a ranger. Then, I came to him and told him you have done well. Come, my son my country waits for your noble heart," Aslan said finishing how he died. I looked at my friends and sister as Lauren came over and hugged me after hearing what had happened. "He is okay and at peace Jayden, know he will guide you," he told me. "Aslan if I may, um I wish to make a request to you," Lauren told him.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"Come Lauren, tell me. What is it you wish," he commanded. "Aslan, I know Tommy was an amazing mentor to Jayden and he did the bravest thing that any of our knights would do in protecting our kingdom. Therefore, I ask if it be with your blessing, that we name Tommy Oliver a Knight of the Most Noble Order of the Lion and be buried with high honor as that of any knight in this order," I asked kneeling before him. He looked at me with curiosity before looking Jayden who was stunned along with the others hearing my request. "Do you approve of this Jayden," he asked him. "If it is her wish for me, let her wish be honored," Jayden told him. He smiled. "I grant your request Lauren. Let it be known throughout Los Angeles and Narnia that Tommy Oliver shall be named a Knight of the Most Noble Order of the Lion and shall be buried with high honor as you requested," he proclaimed.
Jayden's P.O.V.:
Everyone applauded and I hugged my sister after that. "Thank you, Lauren. Tommy would be so grateful to you," I told her. "He would be grateful to you as well Jayden. I think he was lucky to meet and mentor an amazing brother," Lauren told me. "Thank you for hearing her wish, Asl," I started to say looking for him; but he was gone. "He's gone," I realized. "Don't worry. We'll see him again someday," she told me. "Your Majesties, a note came for Jayden from Mr. Billy Cranston. It's an invitation to Tommy's memorial/funeral service," Raphael told us. "Send a reply to Billy telling him I will be there along with my sister and friends," I told him. "Of course," he smiled before leaving the Great Hall. "I love you guys," I told everyone. "We love you to Jayden," Lauren smiled as everyone came in for a big group hug. I know it'll be a few days before his funeral but I know he's watching over me and my family will always be there to comfort me and all rangers.
Hi guys! I wanted to write this two-shot fanfiction as my tribute to Jason David Frank. I feel he was an amazing icon to all Power Rangers fans and he was loved on this Earth. Please reach out to those who need help or struggle with mental illness. Tell them they are not alone. Part 2 which includes the funeral will be posted sometime soon.
