Quinn's Guilt

Chapter 1: Comas

Tracie Anderson and Noah Puckerman were lying in hospital beds after being hit by a car. Noah was struck while trying to save Tracie. Quinn Fabray sits there as she feels guilty because she hit them. Noah and Quinn had just broken up again before it happened. At the time, as Quinn stormed out, she didn't realize Tracie and Noah were following her.

Quinn tries to leave as Blaine and Kurt walk in, but Kurt blocks her way out and yells, "How could you be so careless? Tracie could die because of you!"

Quinn yells back, "I said I was sorry, Kurt! I feel guilty enough as it is, seeing them lying in comas after turning down Puck's proposal!" Then she storms out in tears as Burt comes into the room.

Burt found Quinn standing by Katherine Elizabeth's grave, crying an hour later. When Quinn sees Burt, she says, "Her diary was in that box of Finn's things Mrs. H gave Puck. I found it there before Tracie was born. Ha, I threw it at Puck's head the day we broke up, and he threw it back at me. He saw the K on it and thought it was Kurt's diary."

Quinn looks at Burt before saying, "Beth was the only child I ever had with Puck. I can't give Puck any more kids. Mr. H, did you know that Puck's dad got Kurt's mom pregnant? Her parents made her abort it because she was raped. Like Puck, Nick thought he was God's gift to women in high school, but Katherine wasn't impressed. Let's say Nick wouldn't take no for an answer, and Katherine fell for a jerk who turned out to have a heart of gold after the abortion."

Burt looks at Katherine Elizabeth's grave and says, "That was one of the reasons it took me forever to trust Puck, even after the whole Baby Gate incident. I'm just glad you chose to have Beth and didn't abort her. Don't tell Rachel this, but Tracy thinks Puck is Bruce Banner."

Quinn tries to stifle her laughter as she says, "No, she believes he's the Hulk, and she didn't know they were the same person until she watched End Game at my house once. She was trying to help him chase me because she believes I'm Black Widow." Then Quinn breaks down again and storms off.

When Noah and Tracie were in a coma for three months, Blaine noticed if someone mentioned Quinn's name. Noah and Tracie would either clench their fists or cry. Quinn would visit them, but it was while Kurt or Blaine was asleep, as they sat next to Tracie's bed. She stopped coming during the day because she couldn't face anyone. Rachel and Shelby soon noticed that Quinn blocked them on Facebook soon after that. Yet she didn't block Beth and was sharing anything Beth posted. Beth soon posted things about Tracie or Noah, and Quinn unfriended her.

Soon, Quinn deleted her Facebook account and ignored everyone's calls or texts. If anyone saw her at the hospital, they would try to talk to her. But she would ignore them and keep walking. Santana and Burt would drive by the cemetery and see her at Katherine Elizabeth's grave. But she would be gone by the time they parked their vehicles. Everyone would see her around town, but she would act like she didn't see them. Then one day, Kurt and Blaine saw a Sleeping Beauty book lying in a chair between Noah and Tracie's beds. They could tell Quinn had to have left it there because of the tear stains on the pages. That night, Blaine stayed up, hoping to confront Quinn about her guilt.

Around midnight, Quinn enters and sees Blaine awake with his arms crossed. Quinn tries to leave again, but Burt, who is in the bathroom, blocks her exit. Then Blaine says, "You have got to stop this, Quinn. We have all told you that this wasn't your fault for months. How did you know Tracie would follow Puck? Kurt has even tried to apologize for yelling at you. Quinn, you can't ignore us forever."

Quinn looks at Tracie as she says, "You could lose Tracie, Blaine! How is this not my fault? Puck and Tracie are in comas because of me! If I had just said yes to Puck and never ran out! Your daughter wouldn't be lying in that bed right now, Blaine! Everybody keeps telling me it's not my fault and that I shouldn't feel guilty! But nobody else was in that car with me, and nobody else heard Tracie's screams at night! Blaine, I can't sleep for more than fifteen minutes at a time because I'm having nightmares about that day! I lost my job because I couldn't stay awake. I've been living in my car for a month! Because I was still afraid to face anyone!" Soon a nurse comes in, and Quinn storms out.

In the morning, Quinn wakes up in her car to someone tapping her window. Then she looks up to see Burt with a cup of coffee and a slice of toast. As Quinn gets up and rolls down her window. Burt handed her the coffee and toast before saying, "So, you thought parking your car at my old shop was a good idea? By the way, Mick told me about it three weeks ago. But since you have avoided everyone like the plague, I never got to ask you about it."

Quinn unlocks her car as she eats her breakfast, and Burt gets in on the passenger side. Before Quinn says, "Mr. H, I know you felt guilty over losing Kurt's mom, don't sit there and lecture me on feeling guilty. Nothing you say will help me, so you might as well leave and let me be."

Burt waits until he is out of Quinn's car before saying, "I couldn't look at Kurt for a year after I lost his mom. Blaine forgave you, Quinn. Now, you have to forgive yourself."

Soon Burt was gone, and Quinn was driving to the park, which she had been doing for the past month. When she sees Kurt sitting on a bench after she puts her car in park, she puts the car in reverse and drives to the school parking lot. She knew Santana and Brittany wouldn't be there until three. So, she had six hours to sit there and do whatever. Well, until she saw Mr. and Mrs. Shue walking towards her car.

Both of them were telling her what everyone else was saying. So she tunes them out and drives off. Somehow Quinn found herself at Dalton Academy, or what was left after the fire. As she sat there, flashes of the day she ran over Tracie and Noah flooded her mind again. Like they had been doing no matter where she was.

She was thinking about that day for the millionth time since it happened. She soon heard someone tap on her window and saw Blaine staring back at her. She unlocks her car, and he goes to the passenger side before getting in. This time, she breaks down before he can speak, and he holds her until she falls asleep.

When she woke up in a guest room at Kurt's house, she noticed she was in her nightclothes and wasn't smelling like Jacob Ben Israel. Then she heard Kurt say, "Santana had to help you shower and dress you. We both thought you would wake up once the hot water hit you. So, you were telling the truth when you said you hadn't slept well since. Huh? Look, Quinn, I forgive you, but this doesn't change anything. The fact is, I don't want you here, knowing you are the reason Tracie is lying in a coma. I could blame God for this, not you. But God isn't the one haunting my dreams, Quinn! You are!" Before Kurt can say another word, Burt and Santana drag him out. Then Blaine comes in with Carole. They hugged Quinn, but Carole couldn't look her in the eye.

As time passed, Quinn could tell that Blaine and Burt were the only ones who had forgiven her. This didn't help her at all, though, since she blamed herself just as much as the others did. It didn't matter how many times the others said they forgave her. She knew they were lying to her and started avoiding them when she could.

After Noah and Tracie had been in a coma for five months, Burt entered their hospital room, hearing Quinn weeping. As Burt sits by her, Carole comes in as Quinn says, "I'm sorry, I hit Tracie. The reason I was living in my car was because I lost my house after I lost my job. Artie's mom took me in after I left Kurt and Blaine's house. Kurt got me a job as the secretary at your old shop."

Then she looks up at Burt and asks, "How did you do it, Mr. H? How did you make it through the day at the shop? Knowing Katharine was in a coma, and you couldn't help her. I miss Puck so much that it's hard to breathe. I read that Sleeping Beauty book to Tracie so much that I started dreaming I'm in this weird gender-swapped version of it, kissing Puck to wake him up."

This makes Carole and Burt chuckle before Carole says, "I'm sorry, Quinn, I am. I know you didn't mean it. It just took me a while to realize that." Then she squeezes Burt's shoulder before leaving the room.

As Burt looks at Noah, he says, "Kurt kept me going the whole time. Ha, even after his mom died. If it hadn't been for him, I would probably have started going downhill like you. I thank God for him every day. I met Carole because of him, and I gained another son due to him. I miss Finn just as much as Carole does, and I know she felt guilty that she couldn't save him from himself. But what happened wasn't her fault, and as I told you, you have to forgive yourself, Quinn. It took me a while to stop blaming myself for Katharine's death."

Then Quinn takes Noah's hand as she says, "Mr. H, I don't want to lose Puck. I let him go twice already, and there is no way I'm letting him go again." As Quinn says this, Kurt enters the room and sits with Tracie.

Before Quinn says to Kurt, "Are you ever going to forgive me and mean it, Kurt? You watched me go downhill for months! I said I was sorry, and I meant it! Kurt, these last five months have been hell for me!"

Kurt keeps his eyes on Tracie as he says, "Good, now you know what I have been through, Quinn! Do you think it's easy for me to be here right now? I don't even know why Tracie and Puck are in the same room!"

Soon a nurse comes in and says, "We have tried to move her several times, but every time we tried to move her, Mr. Puckerman would go into cardiac arrest. Your daughter being here is what keeps him alive, and it was his mother that told us not to move her. She was here the last time we tried, and neither of them wants you or Ms. Fabray here. They are both calmer when Mr. Hummel is alone in here. Now, I think you should leave before I call security."

Burt stays behind as the others leave. Then he looks at Noah and says, "Good thing Kurt didn't come in yesterday when I called you, son. I know the reason Quinn goes to Katharine's grave, Puck. I bet Quinn thinks you two are like me and Katharine." Then Burt chuckles as Noah and Tracie glare at Burt. Soon, Burt was reading Sleeping Beauty to Tracie, but he would look at Noah as he read the story.

After Noah and Tracie had been in a coma for six months, Santana was the one who visited them when they both opened their eyes at the same time. Quinn, who still felt guilty over what happened, couldn't face them, even though neither remembered what happened. She tried so many times to come to see them. But her guilt was eating her up inside.

One day, Quinn walked into their room, and Tracie started to scream when she saw her. A nurse had to sedate Tracie to get her to calm down. Then Noah asks the others to leave before saying to Quinn, "I remember everything! You lied to them, Quinn! You saw us before you backed out! I was holding Tracie in my arms when you hit us! Go! Get out! Kurt has every right to be mad at you! Me and Tracie almost died! You were looking right at us! That is no accident!"

Soon, Quinn runs out crying as she says, "I didn't mean it!" Repeatedly as she ran out.

Burt finds Quinn at Katharine's grave again as she says, "I swear, I didn't see Tracie or Puck until it was too late, Mr. H! I didn't mean to hurt them."

She looks at Burt before saying, "I heard what you said to Puck, and you're right. Puck would even tell me that when we started dating after Finn died. I wish it didn't happen. I could have said yes, and my life wouldn't be a total mess now, Mr. H. Tracie and Puck wouldn't be in the hospital, and Kurt wouldn't have a reason to be mad at me." Burt holds her and says nothing as she breaks down in his arms.

Tracie couldn't be around Quinn for months after she and Noah were released from the hospital. Noah was the only person Tracie wanted to be around. Tracie didn't remember her crush on Noah, but she couldn't forget her nightmares. Tracie was afraid to be alone with Quinn for more than one second, and this didn't help Quinn's guilt. Mick and Burt helped prove to Noah and Kurt that it wasn't Quinn's fault. Neither of them wanted to believe it, though, and they put all the blame on Quinn.

One day, Burt and Kurt meet Quinn at Katharine's grave, and she says, "The day of the accident, I found out I couldn't have kids. Then Blaine told me that I was Tracie's godmother before Puck proposed. I was mad at God and I felt like being Tracy's godmother was God's way of spitting in my face. I was going to tell Puck at the party about my eggs, but then he proposed, and I lost it. I found her diary before the party, and as I said, Puck thought it was Kurt's diary. I bought the Sleeping Beauty book before learning I couldn't have kids. The day you found me at your old shop, Blaine found me in my car with a gun. I tried so many times to..." Then Quinn breaks down. She won't let them hold her, and she runs away.

An hour later, Santana and Brittany found Quinn lying in the girls' locker room at McKinley High, along with a note and a bottle of sleeping pills. Soon, Noah and Tracy stood by Quinn's hospital bed as she lay in a coma. Then Tracy says, "Queenie, Papa didn't choose you to be my godmother; I did."

Then Noah kisses Quinn's lips before he looks at the Sleeping Beauty book in Tracy's hand. He soon starts to sing "What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts.

Then he whispers, "I forgive you, Quinn." Then he put a ring box on her tray table as his hand shook.

Soon, Blaine yells, "How could you still blame Quinn for that? She knew you still blamed her for what happened! She said she was sorry, Kurt!"

Then Blaine storms in as he drags in Kurt and continues, saying, "Look at her, Kurt! She told you she was suicidal! Then you started ignoring her after Beth's birthday! Why?"

Kurt looks at Quinn as he yells, "She gave away her daughter and almost killed ours! Why should I forgive her?"

After putting Tracy down, Noah pins Kurt against the wall as he says, "I blamed her too, Kurt. Quinn told us so many times she didn't mean it."

Soon, Tracy screams and says, "Dada and Papa go! Nono, sit down!"

After climbing onto Quinn's hospital bed, she whispers repeatedly, "I forgive you, Queenie." until she falls asleep.

When she woke up an hour later, Blaine was there talking to Noah. She hears him say, "It's been almost two years, and Kurt still doesn't want anything to do with Quinn or to forgive her. I read his last text to her on the day Santana and Brittany found her. He said he wished she was dead."

Tracy soon got up and said, "Come on, Nono, let's go! You're taking me home!" as she stormed out of the room.

Noah hits Blaine on the shoulder and whispers, "Shelby told me Tracy reminds her of Beth at that age. I'm not going to lie here, Blaine. I think that's why we bonded so quickly. Well, I better go before I make Little She-Puck mad at me."

Half an hour later, Burt was streaming Noah and Tracy yelling at Kurt. As Blaine starts watching, Tracy yells, "I'm here! I'm alive! Queenie didn't kill me like God did Nana Beth!" Tracy knew how to say Elizabeth, but Blaine figured she said Beth to make Kurt mad.

Noah was the next to yell, saying, "Kurt, you did this to Quinn! You drove her to hurt herself! I wonder if Blaine knows that Quinn avoided you guys because you made her feel worse. Yes, Kurt, I heard everything you said! You told Quinn to kill herself! You told her she didn't deserve to live! Now look at her. She is in a coma like your mom was! Did you know I have your mom's diary? It was in the box of Finn's stuff! Did you know people told your mom she should die for having you as a son? Kurt, she thought God gave her cancer because you were her son! Quinn made Mr. H think she had read it, but she had never read a word! Your mom felt guilty because she was dying and leaving Mr. H alone to deal with everything! My dad raped your mom before we were born, and Mr. H saved her! Kurt, I know you are mad at Quinn, but I'm fucking pissed at you! You and Quinn used to be best friends back in high school! What changed?"

Kurt looks at Burt before mumbling, "Finn wasn't my first crush, Noah."

Then Noah chuckles as he hands Burt a fifty-dollar bill before the stream ends.

When they returned to Quinn's hospital room, Blaine said, "Puck, Kurt realized you were the same Noah he crushed on as a boy when we went to Santana's and saw a picture of her with you and Finn as kids."

Then Burt says, "I saw the same picture in Finn's room and found it in Kurt's before we moved to Washington. Carole was the one who told me that was Puck, and I bet him fifty bucks that Kurt would own up to the crush someday. Puck didn't believe me and bet fifty bucks he would die before he let anyone know that." Then Noah saw Quinn smiling.

That night, Burt and Noah sat on each side of Quinn's hospital bed. When Noah says, "Elizabeth was there when we were the ones in comas. She thought my mom would be your second wife until I started bullying Kurt. Tracy was unhappy to hear that, and Quinn was wrong; she will have another baby. His name is Burt, too. My middle name isn't Elijah; it's Sue. I had it changed before graduation. My mom and Sue are the only other people who know that. I didn't even tell Finn or Santana that. It's why I started going by Puck."

Burt hands Noah a picture from his wallet and says, "My middle name is Sue too, and only Elizabeth and Sue knew that until now too. My dad was a fan of Johnny Cash, and so was Nick."

As Noah looks at the picture, he chuckles and says, "Well, Elizabeth was half right. You did become my dad in a way. I mean, come on, Mr. H., you're why I enlisted in the Air Force. By the way, I'm working at Mick's, and the guys call me Mr. P around Kurt. They told me about Quinn and Kurt fighting at the shop too."

Noah looks at Quinn as he says, "Elizabeth still comes to me in my dreams. She has been coming to me since I came out of the coma. Tracy was supposed to die that day, and so was Blaine. Elizabeth knew Quinn was going to hurt Tracy, but she didn't expect me to be the one to follow Tracy out to Quinn's car."

Then Noah gets up and screams, "Wake up!" Then he throws things around the room, but before Burt can react, Noah storms out.

Burt gets a call from Blaine twenty minutes later and hears Noah yell, "Your mom comes to me too, Kurt! Blaine and Tracy are still alive because of me! You met Blaine because of me! Why would you want to hurt me by telling Quinn to kill herself? Do you still hate me for bullying you? I thought you were over that!"

Then Kurt yells, "She almost killed Tracy, and she knew how much I wanted her since she was pregnant with Beth! I'm not mad at you, Puck! I'm mad at Quinn, not you! My mom knew that would happen, but I can't forgive Quinn! She almost ruined my life, and I'll never forgive her!"

Then Kurt gasps as Blaine says, "Puck broke Kurt's nose. See you soon, Burt." Soon he ends the call as Burt chuckles as he looks at Quinn.

Burt fell asleep and is woken up by Noah, who yells at Kurt, "Do you think your dad deserved to lose your mom, Kurt?"

Kurt tries to speak when Noah cuts him off, yelling, "Then why would you think I deserved to be without Quinn? Kurt, you still have Blaine and Tracy, and I could lose Quinn! You know what? Go, get out of here before I do worse to you!" Soon Kurt and Blaine left as Noah sat by Quinn's bedside, still fuming.

Then Burt says, "I'm so glad I'm not with Norah right now, and I told Carole about what you told me earlier. She is glad you are still straight, and I hope Little Burt will like girls for your sake."

Then Noah whispers, "No, you don't."

And throws a tissue box at Burt before saying, "Maybe I'll teach him that Burt rhymes with hurt if he is like Kurt." Then Quinn's heart monitor goes off before a nurse rushes in to save her.

After Quinn stabilizes, Noah storms out, and Burt follows him to Elizabeth's grave. Noah stared at the grave for a while before looking into the sky and yelling, "She said she was sorry! You didn't stop Finn from dying! You are not taking Quinn from me! Why would you show me, my son, if you planned to take her?" Noah soon fell to his knees, crying.

Noah was soon searching for another grave as Burt continued to follow him. He stopped at the grave of Nick Puckerman and started kicking as he yelled, "I'm nothing like you, you son of a bitch! Everybody has compared me to you for years! Do you know how long it took me to believe in myself? It took me losing my best friend to become a better man than you! Burt Hummel is the greatest man I have ever known!" Neither man knew that Kurt was hiding behind a tree. Or that he yelled at Nick's grave first.

When Noah and Burt entered Quinn's hospital room, they saw Kurt reading Quinn's Sleeping Beauty book. Then Kurt started wiping tears from his eyes as Noah sat beside him. Soon, Kurt wept and said, "I'm sorry, Puck! This is all my fault!" as Noah wrapped his arm around him.

Quinn had been in a coma for two months when Tracy went missing, and Santana found her asleep on the spot where Quinn was found in the girl's locker room an hour later. Santana texted Burt about finding her because Noah and Kurt still couldn't go there.

The moment Santana got to Kurt's, Noah stormed out, then hurriedly unbuckled Tracie. Everyone saw a mad look on Noah's face as he went straight to Tracie's room. Then they hear Noah yell, "Sit your ass in that goddamn chair! Do you know how worried we've all been looking for you?"

Tracie tries to speak, but Noah cuts her off, yelling, "I miss her too, Tracy, but what if something had happened to you? Do you not remember why we were in the hospital together?" Tracy is soon crying, and they hear Noah sing his version of the song "You've Got A Friend In Me."

Soon Noah was carrying Tracy out of the room on his back as he acted like a horse, making the others laugh. Then Tracy asks, "Does Aunt Beth know about Queenie hurting herself?" Noah didn't answer her, but looked at the others, and Blaine shook his head no.

Chapter 2 will be up soon.
