Hello Readers! So, I don't know if it's just me, but in 2010s every anime was about "reincarnating into a videogame". And I guess watching enough got me into wanting to write my own. LOL
A quick side-note, while this is Breath of the Wild, I will also be using story plot from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, because it's in the same universe. So the prequel game, before the main game. Hope that helps.
Also really quick, I am dyslexic, so sorry if I miss any spelling errors, I try my best.
Ok! Hope you enjoy! (^◡^ )
It was late in the evening; pitch black sky, with heavy rain. Driving down an empty highway, a young woman taped the steering wheel along to the beat of the music on the radio. Her tiny Chevrolet sonic was stuffed with boxes, almost everything she owned, all packed in the truck and back-seats.
~Some nights, I stay up cashing in my bad luck
Some nights, I call it a draw
Some nights, I wish that my lips could build a castle
Some nights, I wish they'd just fall off
But I still wake up, I still see your ghost
Oh Lord, I'm still not sure what I stand for, oh-oh
(Oh-ooh-woah) what do I stand for?
(Oh-ooh-woah) what do I stand for?
Most nights, I don't know anymooore!~" Singing her heart out, laughing that she couldn't hit the high note. But her music was cut sort by her phone ringing. Smiling at the familiar number, she witched to wireless call, "Hey mom, you trying to break your record on how many calls in one day?" She joked.
"That is not funny, Fio," Came the older woman's voice, who didn't take the joke. "I'm your mother, so I have a right to monitor you!"
"It's also an invasion of privacy." Fio smirked, taking a glance at herself in the rearview mirror.
"I still can't believe this, "a sudden rainstorm out of nowhere?!" Please tell me you're at least in the city now." Fio could hear the worry in her voice.
"Not for another half hour. But it's fine, the roads are clear." The young woman smiled with confidence, keeping her eyes on the dark road.
"Maybe I should have come with you, you have a lot of stuff and-"
"Mom, will you please relax! The university is only two hours away, if I needed anything, I know you will fight tooth and nail to come." She frowned her brows together, she knew her mom worried, "You gotta let me take this next step by myself."
"I know... Your dad and I are very proud of you." There was so much love in her gentle voice, that it made Fio's cheeks burn with happiness.
Not wanted the call to get all mushy, she spoke up, "K, I gotta focus now mom, I'll call you when I'm at the campus."
"I love you sweet-pea, be safe!"
"Love you too mom." Fio lightly chuckled, ending the call. Breathing out a sigh, as she slouched down in her seat. Fio loved her mother very much, but also wished she wasn't so over-protective. Although, she already was missing home-cooked meals, "Guess I'll be living off of cup-of noodles for a while." She chuckled. Taking another glance at herself in the mirror, she smiled with confidence, "Starting tomorrow, I am officially an adult!"
But her positive attitude was halted when her headlights suddenly went off, "What the-" Fio blinked in shock, she tried to flicker the high-beams but they were dead. The heavy rain kept poring down, and in the middle of the night, she could see anything, "Oh crap!- I need to get off the-" But as she scrambled to take action, her ears were blasted by blares of horns.
Fio turned her head, only to see the side of a large truck coming close to her right side. It didn't see her in time, as the two vehicles impacted on themselves. Her airbags went off, making her head hit the side of the window, all she heard was white-noise, as her car flipped over.
"Where... am I?" Tt felt like forever when she finally open her eyes; only to see... nothing. Fio blinked, turning her head left and right. There was no ground, no sky, nothing, but a vast black abyss. She looked down at her feet, she felt no gravity, she was just hovering. "What... happened?" Why was she here? She's not suppose to be here, she was going somewhere.
"Is anyone out there?! HELLO?!" Fio tried shouting, but her voice didn't echo, "Hello! Anyone!" her breathing got choppy, feeling her anxiety picking up. Why was this happening?! Was she having a nightmare? Did she fall asleep in class again?! "PLEASE! I don't... want to be alone..." Bringing her legs up to her chest, curling into a ball.
Suddenly, off in the distance, a light shined through the darkness. Blinking Fio uncurled, staring at the light, "Hello?!" She called again, "Am I... suppose to go to it?" Not seeing another option, she "breaststroke" toward the light.
Swimming in vase nothingness was a lot harder. The closer she got, the light started to dim. Panicking, she swam faster, reaching her hands out, "Don't go out! Don't go out!" Lunging, Fio grasped the light, hugging it close to her chest. She panted, catching her breath, the light tool a physical form, it felt heavy, but at the same time, light. Lifting it up, Fio gasped at the glowing object; it shined like the sun, with fragments pointed for all sides, "Wow... it, looks like a star."
Suddenly, a chuckled echoed trough out the abyss. Fio yelped, hugging the star close, "It is called a Star Fragment..." The light from the star glowed brighter then before, blinding Fio. The young woman shut her eyes tight, until the light dimmed down. Hesitant at first, she slowly opened them back up. Fio gapped in shock, for standing before her was a woman the size of a titan. Long blonde hair, with pointy ears peeking out, wearing a silk-white dress. Large white wings behind, making her look angelic.
She smiled down, and spoke in a kind voice, "Hello, human," Fio couldn't find her voice, so titan went on, "My name, Hylia: I am the Goddess of Hyrule," She took notice that Fio was trying to pitch her arm really hard, "This is not a dream, I am real, and so are you."
The young woman finally found her voice, "Wha- How... Umm... This is a lot for me," She said with honesty. Finally gathering her thoughts, Fio asked, "W-Why am I here?"
"You died." The Goddess said bluntly.
"...ok..?"
"Do you know why you are here?"
Fio looked down, trying to remember, "I-I... was driving at night, I was headed to the university. I would be starting class next week. But, on the road... there was a truck..." It was like her reality had been shattered, as she painted the picture of her last moments alive. Fio's eyes widened, "No... nonononono-!" She frantically looked back up at the goddess, "No- I can't be-! I-I was suppose to call my mom... let her know I made it..." Her shaky hands clutched the star fragment, looking down to see her reflection in the light, tears formed in her eyes, "I was about to begin my next step... going to school for art..." Fat tears ran down her cheeks like two waterfalls, squeezing her eyes shut, Fio hugged the star close to her chest, shaking like a leaf, "I wanted... to make a difference in life..."
The Goddess watched her silently cry. Her face showed no emotion, but she did not like seeing a broken soul, "Life never goes out how we plan. But yes, your life ended too soon," Reaching her giant hand down, using the tips of her fingers, she lifted Fio's face, "I offer you this, would you take another chance at life? Be warned, you will not return to your old world, and you will have memories of your passed. Ones that may haunt you."
Her eyes were blood-shot, as she stared back up at the Goddess. Another chance at life..? She just died a few minutes ago, and then suddenly a Goddess shows up offering reincarnation?! Any sane person would jump at the opportunity. But... be reborn in a different world? With old memories of the person she once was. She would be starting fresh, all alone.
"Why me?" Fio hiccupped, sniffling her nose, "Why am I so special?" There had to be a reason. Why out of the billions of human on earth, this girl fresh out of high school was chosen? What had her so special?
Hylia smiled, "Because you, Fio, can make a difference."
Make a difference, something every human being strive for. Maybe this... was her opportunity in that. Maybe, it wasn't suppose to be on earth? She can reset, take everything she learned in her 18 years alive, and use it! Plus... what other opinion was there.
As Fio kept looking up at the Goddess, she couldn't help but think, This is like a start of a videogame. A character chosen by a god, to go to another world. Wait... is this... destiny? Giving it a one more though, Fio took a deep breath, and wiped her eyes, looking up with determination, "I'll do it!"
Hylia smiled, rising back up, "Then, you have my blessing, Fio. I will smile upon you." Her wings spread wide, white feathers blew all around. The star fragment shined again in Fio's arms, it shattered, the glow consuming her. Fio gasped, the glow grew brighter. She took one last look at the Goddess, before vanishing, "Good luck, warrior."
"Hey... hey... HEY!" Came a loud voice above. Her eyes flung open, taking in a sharp breath of air. Fio blinked a few times, and looked up to see... a horse? It leaned it's head down, stiffing her, "Get out of the road!" It's rider shouted. Fio tilted her head, to see a very anger man, wearing medieval clothing. But then she noticed his ears... pointy.
"Are you deaf?! MOVE!"
Blinking again, taking notice that she was lying on her back in the middle of a dirt-road, "Oh - ah, sorry!" Fio quickly scrambled out of the way. The rider grumbled, trotting his horse along.
Her heart was racing again, maybe from the shock. But once she calmed her nerves down, Fio took in her surroundings; open grassy fields, with a few trees off in the distance, "Did... did it work?" Feeling unsure. Taking a glance down at her form, she notice she was wearing an off-white skirt, and brown shabby plants, with muddy boots. Very slowly, she reached her hands up to her face, and felt her ears, "No way..." They now had a point.
She didn't have a great view on where she was. She raced across the road, coming to a steep hill, Climbing up on all fours, till she was at the top. Already out of breath, Fio pushed herself up, and gasped at the view in front of her; a regal castle, like something out of a fairy tale.
"Wow..." Fio gasped, taking in the view. "This was it... my new beginning... I hope I don't screw it up." Groaning, her confidence already deflating.
Sorry, I know this chapter is short, but it's the stepping stone! See you in the next chapter!
