Chapter Nine
Dimitri's POV
"We still can't find her" Janine sighed
"Yes we can she's 7 miles down the road blacked out warehouse, don't ask how I know I just do"
Mr Mazur and Janine just stared at me like I'd grown another head. Mr Mazur took the two guns he gave Rose off Janine
"Rose would want these"
He headed out the door along with Adrian leaving Janine and I in silence then she spoke
"Ok we need more Guardians"
I shook my head "no we have what we need this should be a stealth mission not an invasion"
Janine thought about it for a moment then picked up the M4A1 assault rifle and a stake
"Let's go get Rose"
As we made our way to the car Eddie joined us
"I'm coming with you Belikov. Nothing you can say will change that"
Eddie was armed with a stake and a USP match handgun
I nodded my head to say that's fine.
As we got to the car I noticed it was a 2010 armoured Land Rover and I couldn't have been happier. Janine sat up front with Mr Mazur and that left me in the back with Adrian and Eddie. The second we were all buckled in Mr Mazur sped off.
Mr Mazur drove like a man possessed, Janine was constantly yelling at him to slow down. We reached the 7 mile mark but there was no warehouse to be found only two huge fields full of nothing.
"Ok Edison, Belikov you two scout the east section and Abe, Adrian and I will go west, tell us when you find something" Janine snapped at us as she handed out radios. We took one each and attached them to our belts.
Eddie and I wandered the field as we passed a thick line of trees there in the middle of nowhere was the warehouse
"Found it" Eddie said into the radio. Shortly after Janine and Mr Mazur came running up
"Ok Abe you are to stay here and be our sharp shooter" Janine said but then her face fell
"You don't have night vision" she muttered
Mr Mazur laughed and we all looked at him. He smiled as he took a night vision scope out of his pocket
"Should have known" Janine said with a small laugh then she turned to Adrian and Eddie
"Lord Ivashkov I'm sorry but you are to stay here" Adrian turned red
"Like hell I am, I do know how to use one of these" he snapped as he unclipped the safety of his berretta M9 Pistol "I'm going in to get Rose whether you like it or not"
Janine smiled at Adrian "you son would make one hell of a guardian shame your drunk most of the time"
With the approval of Janine Hathaway Adrian looked like he could take on the world
Janine and Mr Mazur looked at I cocked my head to one side "Don't tell me you brought just a stake" I shook my head and revealed a Desert Eagle hand gun Mr Mazur laughed
"She'll kill you for having that"
Janine tutted at him, his smart reply was handing her a flash grenade
"You always surprise me dear" she muttered
Mr Mazur took his position on higher ground, Janine took that as the signal to start moving Adrian and Eddie took the south door while Janine and I took the main door
Janine signalled to me that she was opening the door to through in the grenade on the count of 3 we ran in. the flash did its job as there were two strigoi cowering near the wall shielding their eyes we disposed of them quickly.
As we went room to room we found nothing then finally we found a locked door, Janine tried to open it but it wouldn't budge, I gently pushed her aside and with all my strength kicked the door in, it gave in instantly but what we saw when the door swung open broke my heart there was Roza covered in blood holding onto Lord Ozera while her so called red haired friend beat the living day lights out of herm her friend must have heard us but still carried on
"I heard you come in the front door" she snarled at us I held Janine back which earned me a killer glare the red head gave one mighty kick to Rose's ribs and I heard a few things crack
"the cavalry can't save you Hathaway" she snapped she was about to go for us when a shot echoed then she screamed in pain as it hit her shoulder the smell of burning flesh assaulted my nose. While the red head was busy trying to dig out the bullet Janine went into battle she lunged at her and had her on the floor in moments
"No one messes with my little girl and lives" with that Janine plunged the stake in her heart and the red head shrieked in pain then was finally silent
I ran to Rose's side
"Comrade" she managed to say then blacked out I was about to pick her and try get her to safety when someone slammed into me knocking the breath from my lungs I wrestled with them until I managed to get them off me I stood up to see that it was Hunter
"You are going to regret what you've done here" I hissed
Hunter stood up straight, ready to go another round.
"I know but Belikov it's me or the queen time is ticking, she's going to go boom" he snarled
Instantly my food kicked out, hitting him in jaw, his head snapped to one side. Hunter growled at me and soon we were exchanging blows I mostly dodged and blocked.
"Time's ticking" Hunter hissed
"I beg to differ" Adrian yelled
My eyes on Hunter the whole time, I saw his face change from smug to screwed I took it as my chance and staked him on the spot.
I turned to see Adrian holding up Lissa, she was bloody and her clothes were torn
"Is she ok?" Janine asked
"Yeah they had a bomb strapped to her but it wasn't that hard to defuse" Janine helped Adrian hold up Lissa as I went to get Roza as I moved her Christian woke up
"Get your hand away from her" he bellowed
"Lord Ozera its Belikov" I said to him he opened his eyes and relieve showed in them
I untied Christian; he tried to stand up but was too disorientated
"Eddie get in here" I yelled
Eddie appeared covered in blood he had a nasty cut on his cheek and on his arms
Eddie took one look at Christian and put an arm under him and slowly led him out the door. I picked up Roza, I held her close to me and for the first time in my life I was glad she was this hurt otherwise I would have never gotten this close.
As we left the warehouse the ground was littered with strigoi bodies, Mr Mazur came running over to us and I instantly put Roza in his arms, he gave me a nod and took her back to the car along with Christian.
Someone put their hand on my arm I looked to see it was Lissa
"She loves you so very much, I was in her mind for a few moments and all I could see was your face"
Janine and Adrian gently urged Lissa to walk to the car
I made a phone call to Sydney; she answered on the third ring
"Yeah I'm on my way" she said then hung up.
I got to the car and realised there was no room for me. Adrian who was sitting next to Rose got out
"Get in, I'll drive the van back" I gave Adrian a nod in thanks and slipped in beside Rose.
Mr Mazur crashed in to the hospital wing at court and that was it chaos started there were nurses and doctors everywhere.
I sat in a plastic chair with my head in my hands and prayed Roza would make I through.
