Hello all! I'm back with a new story. For my readers waiting on updates for some of my currently in progress work, do not worry. I'm currently working on anything that I have outstanding. I started this story a bit ago after I found DC Titans and just had to write it out. This story takes place during season two after Jason is captured by Deathstroke and the subsequent roof scene. I changed the way things go from there. This is an already completed story and will be updated either once or twice a week. Let me know in the reviews if you would rather have an update once or twice a week. I hope you all enjoy it!

Note: this story contains coarse language, non-con elements, and mature content.

Where Loyalties Lie

Chapter One

The soft glow of the tv illuminated a small bedroom in Titan Tower. The volume of the movie playing was low so as to not disturb anyone else in the tower or the sleeping boy in the bed. Rose watched the movie intently while her fingers gently danced through Jason's unruly hair, careful not to wake him. It was two in the morning and Jason hadn't had a nightmare yet. The last thing Rose wanted to do was interrupt his rest, especially when he so desperately needed it.

Unexpectedly, the young woman felt a slight buzz under the skin of her forearm. She clenched her teeth and stealthily slipped from the bed without disturbing her companion. A testament to just how exhausted he was. Once off the bed, Rose reached down and unzipped a hidden pocket in her boot and pulled out a small flat phone.

The sudden glow of the phone in the dimly lit room bothered the young woman's sight, causing her to blink a few times. When her vision cleared, she noticed an encoded message displayed on the screen and sighed as the settled feeling of guilt in her chest intensified. Looking back at Jason's sleeping form with anguish in her eye Rose felt something she had never felt before and the anguished look turned into determination.

Hitting a button that blocks anyone from intercepting her calls, Rose dialed the only contact in the phone. After two rings the call connected, and her father's stern voice sounded from the other end. "Rose?"

"This game you're playing with the Titans…I'm done. I'm not gonna help you with your personal vendetta anymore." Rose said firmly in a hushed voice.

"Don't tell me you've developed a soft spot for the Titans. They're the reason your brother is dead!" Slade accused in a voice dripping with disdain.

Rose looked up again at Jason from where she was leaning against the door and noticed a frown of distress beginning to crease his forehead in sleep and replied. "Not all of them." The young woman didn't give her father a chance to respond and hung up immediately after her words.

Slade growled in anger and leaned in closer to the monitor displaying various areas in the Titans' tower, looking for his daughter. As soon as the mercenary found Rose, she moved to one of the hidden cameras, making sure to position herself so she was seen. The first thing Rose did was snap the phone he gave her in half then using a switchblade cutout the communication tracker from her forearm before breaking that as well. The determined young woman then spent the next ten minutes removing and destroying all the hidden cameras Deathstroke had Rose place throughout the tower. When the last camera went offline Slade's fury reached a critical point and the glass in his hand shattered within his tight grasp.

Calming down almost instantly, the mercenary known as Deathstroke picked up his phone and with cold determination dialed a number. "I have a job for you. Recon and disrupt. I don't care how much it costs. My daughter has become attached to the Titans…I need to find out why."

A few days later a well-kept man in a suit stood in front of Slade Wilson as the mercenary watched a video recording and the man gave his report.

"Your daughter is quite remarkable." The man said clearly impressed. Slade glared prompting the man to continue. "You were right. Your daughter seems to have become attached to one of the Titans."

"What makes you say that?" Slade's deep voice rumbled, sight never leaving the video of Rose and the other Titans fighting.

The man smirked. "In about thirty seconds you'll see her take a bullet for one of the young men."

True to his word, Slade watched as Rose noticed a shooter line up a shot on the unsuspecting young man and instinctively shielded him. The young man, who Deathstroke recognized as the new Robin he had captured about a month ago, quickly knocked out the shooter and dropped down beside his injured daughter. The two shared a private moment, that clearly showed there was something between them, before the others joined them and the video ended.

The mercenary rewound the video and zoomed in on Rose as she subtly intertwined her fingers with Jason's while he put pressure on her wound. Slade's good eye narrowed and he pushed a stuffed envelope across the dark wooden desk to the man standing before him.

Dawn smiled down kindly at the one-eyed girl who was shifting uncomfortably on the infirmary bed clearly not used to the attention. Her gentle hands ran across the now unmarked skin of Rose's abdomen where the bullet wound had been. "You're healing is truly remarkable, Rose. Just don't go making it a habit to get shot. Okay?"

"I think I can do that." Rose said with her usual cool confidence.

Dawn nodded. "Good. I don't see any reason why you can't head back to your room to rest. No real need to stay in here." She turned to leave, stopping next to Jason's chair. Dawn placed her hand softly on the young man's shoulder to gain his attention. "Dick wanted to see you when you're done here. Maybe you could help Rose to her room and then stop by to see him?"

"Yeah maybe." Jason answered back noncommittally, shrugging his shoulders with a mischievous smirk.

Dawn chuckled and shook her head fondly before leaving the two young vigilantes alone. After the door clicked closed the room fell into silence.

"Why did you do that?" Jason suddenly broke the quiet from his place sitting on an uncomfortable plastic chair at the foot of the bed, arms crossed defensively.

Rose's attention shifted from her now fully healed bullet wound to Jason's troubled features. "Do what?"

The curly-haired young man clenched his teeth, trying to control his emotions, muscles in his defined jaw twitching. "Take a bullet for me. I'm not worth it, Rose. Not worth you or anyone dying for me."

Rose narrowed her good eye at her boyfriend. "I can heal…you can't."

"You might not be able to heal from everything. You don't know." He volleyed back without pause.

"Why don't you let me decide if I think you're worthy or not, because you are, Jay." Rose said softly.

The young vigilante opened his mouth to protest, but Rose cut him off. "Besides, now you owe me." She reached out towards him. "Come here."

Jason smirked. "I've never been good at taking orders."

"I know."

Slowly and with a cocky grin Jason stood up from his seat and swaggered to the infirmary bed, sitting down on its edge as he reached Rose's side. "Sooo since I owe you. What were you thinking?"

Rose gripped her boyfriend's grey t-shirt and pulled him to her. Their lips connected in a firm kiss that left them both breathless when it ended. "I think you know." She whispered.

A wide smile stretched across Jason's face. "That can be arranged."

By the time Jason and Rose made it out to the main room everyone was already gathered discussing who could be behind the earlier ambush.

Hank spread his arms wide as he caught sight of the two. "Nice of you both to join us. We're not doing anything important. Not like we're trying to figure out who sent a fucking tactical team after us."

"Sorry me getting shot inconvenienced you." Rose said coolly while Jason didn't even bother with a verbal response and just flipped Hank off.

Dick rolled his brown eyes and reached out to stop Hank from stomping towards Jason. "Alright that's enough. Let's try to act like a team." The older Robin's concerned gaze swept over Jason, making sure he was okay before resting on Rose. "Are you okay?"

Rose's face was a mask of indifference. "Good as new."

"Good. Now back to what you were saying Donna." Dick's voice was all business. Instinctively, the original Robin positioned himself closer to his 'adopted' brother. When Dick first found out that Bruce had adopted another troubled boy…another Robin, he fought the urge to protect Jason out of spite. But ever since having to talk the kid off the ledge after Deathstroke, Dick had vowed to be better. His issues were with Bruce, not Jason.

"As I was saying, it seems obvious to me that it's Deathstroke. I mean who else would have that many men at their disposal with a grudge against us?" Donna said confidently.

"But if it was Deathstroke then why did they back off so quickly? We were distracted with Rose getting shot. Why not take advantage of that?" Kory added.

Rachel cleared her throat and held up a finger to get everyone's attention. "But it was Rose that was hurt. Maybe Deathstroke pulled his people back because his daughter was injured."

"Dear old Dad wouldn't care if I was hurt. He knows I heal. He absolutely would've used the distraction to his advantage." Rose spoke with certainty and leaned back to get more comfortable on the couch as if the fact her father wouldn't care didn't bother her.

Jason, who was sitting on the arm of the couch next to Rose looked around at the group. "So that means we have someone else out to get us? I feel like I'm back in Gotham."

Hearing Jason mention Gotham made Dick think of something. "Jason, how would you describe the way those men fought today? If you were evaluating them for Bruce?"

The younger Robin looked surprised by Dick asking his opinion, but he quickly realized what he was getting at. "To me, it seemed like they were testing us. Recon, plain and simple."

"So, somebody new?" Dawn's soft voice asked.

Dick thought for a moment running a hand through his hair. "Not necessarily. It could be Deathstroke trying to figure out how we tick, or it could be someone new. We need to ask around, patrol, see if we can figure out who was behind the attack."

Jason leaned forward and clasped his hands together. "I have a contact in the city. I can ask if they've heard anything about a new player in town."

"And I can check all the security and traffic cam footage in the area to see if I can figure out where they went." Gar supplied, practically bouncing in his seat with excitement.

"Okay. Hank, Dawn, and Donna, you three should go patrol the streets to see if you find anything. Rachel and Rose, I want you two to keep training and help Gar if you can." Dick ordered.

Rose glared, not at all happy with being sidelined. "And what are you going to do?"

"I'm going to call Bruce."
