Oh hey it's been 2 years... time sure flies ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I haven't made a fic in so long for a good variety of reasons:

#1 - I couldn't think of anything goodbr /

#2 - I do stuffbr /

#3 - I care about my College gradesbr /

#4 - Beastars fandom has felt like a deserted wasteland for a while and it's going to remain like that until we finally get the final season of the anime in God damn 2024

Despite all of these I still occasionally like to read fanfics. The thing about Beastars fanfics though is that there is an overabundance of Legoshi/Louis, and I frankly got tired of it. Several months back this boredom gave me an idea for a new fanfic, and a really evil one at that. So after finding time periodically between my classes and whatnot, I started to write this.

After getting some chapters already done I now feel this is ready to be tossed out in the wild. I hope my grammar is at least slightly improved compared to my last fic, but you will be the judge of that. Without spoiling the contents of the story I will warn you that this may feel a little tame now, but later chapters are gonna get dark as hell lol. If you are easily squeamish, this may not be the best read for you. The only hint I will give you about the direction this fic will go is that I took a tiny bit of inspiration from the plot of Stephen Kings "Misery"

Nonetheless, enjoy!

He could not believe it.

He simply did not believe it.

In fact, he refused to believe it.

The class had just ended, and young animals of all species under the sun began to disperse.

While a small few remained behind to engage in conversation with others in the lecture hall, Louis opted as he always did to join the majority in getting out as soon as possible.

Sure he was arguably one of the most popular students in all of Cherryton, but Louis didn't really have any he could call an actual friend. He had plenty of fans that loved to follow and crowd around him to get photos and signed autographs, but he considered none of them to be actually likable. They all felt like mindless drones that had nearly identical personalities, all just wanting the same thing out of him. Nonetheless, he still enjoyed their presence because he was always striving to be in the centermost spotlight, and there was nowhere else he was the complete point of attention than on the auditorium's stage.

The howling of cheers and praise Louis received for his outstanding performances in the drama club's plays were the blood that ran through his veins and the neurons that activated in his brain. No matter how many times he found himself in the same position, doing the same acts, receiving the same claps and whistles, he always needed more. Whatever it would take, Louis would attempt to improve himself and his fellow club members to achieve perfection even beyond one hundred percent.

The stage Louis at times almost pictured as a sentient being deserved only the highest of quality, meaning he would go to great lengths just to make sure it wasn't desecrated. In order to achieve this Louis obtained an iron hold over the club that no one dared to challenge, most notably due to the power and influence his status in the school held over the others. The official president of the drama club was a pelican named Sanu, but the system worked as a hierarchy of command, meaning there was a lead supervisor over the production crew, the dance team, and so on. As one would expect, Louis was the leader of the acting team, so whatever he said was what went.

The most recent example of him flaunting his power was kicking Kai off the acting team and moving him to the production crew because of minor little errors he had made while performing. Sanu could've easily objected to this, but even he was too afraid of what Louis could potentially do to make his time in the drama club a living nightmare.

Louis gave himself more liberties with this control in mind, including bossing the other actors around and even telling the dancers how to dance properly. While for the most part it was him just wanting everything to be perfect, he had gained a lust for the command he'd obtained. It made him feel superior, and stronger even, despite his stature as what he considered himself to be a weak and inferior herbivore. He refused to admit it was due to a fit of jealousy over wishing he was a carnivore, a kind he saw as better in almost every aspect, but it was pretty much exactly why. Everywhere Louis went he witnessed examples of carnivores displaying and showing off their dominance.

Except for one gray wolf.

Probably the most fitting job for his shy and hidden nature, Legoshi was the one who handled the spotlights and lighting in the club's production crew. He did it completely solo until Kai was pushed into joining him, but the wolf really didn't mind since an extra set of hands would help with the pile of tasks that had to be taken care of. Although during the drama club's performances Legoshi was hidden away up in the catwalks of the auditorium, his role was one of the most important considering he had to keep a bright spotlight on the actors as they engaged on the stage so the audience would be able to witness and become consumed by the action. After doing it for so long he had gotten really good at it, but then again it wasn't the most difficult task considering it mainly just involved swiveling a spotlight around and making sure it was in the spot where it needed to be.

Regardless, Legoshi still strived to do his best since he knew the actors were all counting on him. But there was no one he could say counted on him more than Louis though. Much like the red deer dished out to everyone else in the club, Legoshi received his fair share of scrutiny from the stag for even the slightest hiccups as well.

One thing Legoshi, unfortunately, failed to take notice of was the fact that Louis seemed to approach him with criticism and suggestions a tad more often than the others, even if he was doing what he should've been without any error. The poor canine just figured that Louis liked to pick on him more because he was either making the slightest of mistakes he failed to realize, or just because he was a good punching bag for releasing stress.

Unbeknownst to Legoshi, both hypotheses were far from the truth.

The real reason Louis was after Legoshi the most often was a strange mix between infuriation and admiration for the gray wolf. He was a natural carnivore just like all the others, but he acted completely unlike one. Legoshi was born with a noticeable variety of gifts that made him superior even to his own kind.

In particular, Legoshi had a naturally strong and muscular build, sharp and powerful fangs that evolved to slice through limbs with ease, and an unnatural height that made other wolves his age jealous. He had all those things to himself that Louis could only ever dream of having.

And what did Legoshi do with all of this? Nothing.

Legoshi was nothing like your commonly cheery and outspoken carnivore.

He never tried to show off or boast about his strength.

A lot of the time he could be found trying to hide away from everyone.

But most infuriating to Louis of all, he always made sure to keep his teeth hidden away from visible sight, just so he wouldn't accidentally scare any herbivores.

It annoyed Louis beyond belief, naturally making him attempt to push Legoshi's buttons often in an attempt to get even the slightest emotional outburst. No matter how hard he tried though, the wolf practically never cracked.

Instead of getting the idea that it was obviously never going to work, Louis continued to try even more because of something he'd begun to feel for Legoshi over time. Something deep down inside that took a while for him to even understand himself.

Despite how much Legoshi pissed him off, he was gaining an attraction for the oblivious wolf.

Legoshi had everything Louis wanted without even trying, things Louis would never obtain no matter how hard he tried to be on top. He was born with a magnificent body and a natural set of skills that was capable of so much that he wanted all for himself.

Louis enjoyed toying with Legoshi in horrible ways because he just hoped to break that powerful shell the loner always hid behind.

Sadly the environment the stag's father plopped him into unfortunately taught him to basically show as little emotion as possible, so Louis never knew the proper ways to handle people or situations; he basically just went out on a limb with his attempts at socialization.

But at long last, even Louis could eventually tell his attempts were not working. If anything, it was just making Legoshi want to avoid him more. He would need to come up with a new plan of action if he ever wanted to have a chance.

So in order to do this, one day Louis decided to climb the staircases and visit the gardening club. In times of stress, he often found peace and tranquility amongst all the flowers and the fluorescent scents they provided. It was kind of like his happy place, practically his only one in the entire school unless you'd count the auditorium stage.

One thing he used to especially enjoy about the gardening club was seeing Haru. The small, white dwarf rabbit was the only member left of the club, leaving her all alone up there to make sure it didn't die.

It was a chance encounter Louis happened to run into her when his antlers broke off and he needed somewhere to hide from the public. From that day on they clicked, Louis coming by then frequently so they could enjoy each other's company.

Eventually, their relationship took a more hormonal turn as they started exploring their bodies. Haru enjoyed it because she wanted to be loved, and Louis because it was a stress reliever.

It was becoming clear to Haru after a while though that the stag was losing interest in her when he started declining her approaches and often just opted to sit around quietly. Unbeknownst to her, this was around the time Louis realized he was beginning to swing a different way when he fell for Legoshi.

However, it turns out a coincidental chain of events was going to unknowingly bring them all together one day.

Louis knew what had to be done.

He scoured the internet for hours. The buck felt desperate having to resort to the information of others that were put out there on internet sites, but it was clear nothing else he knew to try was working. The search for the perfect method had turned out to take a lot longer than he thought since he didn't want to try anything that would wind up in him either having to embarrass himself or needing to tarnish the ego he worked hard to earn.

But finally, Louis settled on an idea that he could attempt in private, away from any prying eyes or relentless fans. The timing couldn't have been more perfect either since the semester was just ending, giving all the students almost a whole month of spring break to either return home, remain at Cherryton, or just relax in whatever manner they so pleased.

So after a long and stressful day of studying and doing tests, Louis's last class concluded, giving him leeway to set off on his new mission.

First tending to some fans who wanted a picture with him, Louis took haste for the long and treacherous staircase that plagued the tall school. Sure they had elevators in the building, but none of them were ever built to take or drop off students in this particular off-stretch. Getting up to this area unfortunately could only be done by stairs.

It clearly killed Louis's legs having to climb up them every time, but it was worth it for what lays beyond the metal door.

Louis pushed it open and was greeted by one of his favorite sights.

Flowers of all shapes and colors quickly welcomed his vision, and soon following was the faint smell of soil and a well-cared-for garden wafting through his nose.

This was the best idea he could have ever chosen.

With an empty bouquet in hand and a quest to find the most beautiful flowers out of the lot, Louis set off on his search. The garden club's space wasn't really all that large, but it was still big enough to house a spacy club room and multiple soil plots for a variety of plants. It wouldn't really be too difficult to pick a nice array.

Louis easily could've gone out to town to find some, but this was more accessible. He especially needed to be quick since the spring break was only a few days away, along with the fact that he never bothered to find out if Legoshi was spending it at home from Cherryton. Louis could never possibly have the patience to wait several more weeks after all this time he put into researching and planning.

Nonetheless, he casually went about his time inspecting each bed of flowers for the ones that looked the most vibrant.

Though much to Louis's dismay while plucking some out, the fact that he was taking perfectly healthy flowers from their soil, and that Haru would probably notice and scold him for it kept nudging at the back of his mind.

It was too bad for her though because Louis was more desperate than ever this time around, so his only choice was to push those thoughts away and deal with the consequences later.

Within minutes the stag was already able to find a good dozen, something he subconsciously still had to be glad for considering Haru was willing to care for so many all by herself. She even must have decided to expand the garden over the recent months considering there were more plots than Louis could recall, which he assumed would only be more stressful than ever to manage alone. Perhaps Haru was occasionally getting help from someone else she knew.

The bouquet became nice and filled after a little while longer and Louis was ready to retire back to his dorm. The only thing that he needed to do left was purchase a simple gift that all canines instinctively loved, probably a ball or a frisbee.

The thought of a shy and timid wolf such as Legoshi happily chasing after something so frivolous couldn't help but make him crack a smile. Or maybe instead he could even get-

Louis paused...

He was about to leave the garden when his brain suddenly pushed out those delightful daydreams.

Just as he passed the club room, his peripheral vision picked up on an unfamiliar mass visible through the sliding door. Usually the curtain covering it was open or closed all the way, but now it was pushed aside only half away. Louis had come to learn Haru used it similar to a "do not disturb" sign. When it was open she was out and about doing who knows what, and when closed she was likely inside with Louis or tending to something he didn't want to accidentally intrude on.

It was probably just nothing of importance, but Louis's gut told him otherwise.

The buck turned back around and inched by the door. Being sneaky was out of the question for males of Louis's species due to his obstructive antlers, so he could only hope for whoever was in there wouldn't notice.

Louis however, immediately wished he never looked.

Beyond the sliding door and inside the shed was Haru. Normally this wouldn't be a cause for alarm, but it was who sat next to her that made him freeze into a deer in headlights.

The white dwarf rabbit was sitting on the shabby bed that she and Louis had shared so many personal and intimate moments with, and sitting beside her was none other than the gray wolf that Louis had been preparing to swoon over.

They were both just sitting there, chatting away without a care in the world. Louis had no doubt they already formed some type of connection just from the way they looked at each other, whether it was as friends or, perhaps even more. Haru was smiling more than the stag had seen in a long while, and Legoshi's face adorned a similar joy that was a rare sight to come by.

The look of longing that often plagued Haru's features had even disappeared, something Louis observed a lot more recently as he increasingly distanced from her.

But what topped it all off was seeing the wolf's long and fluffy tail swaying from side to side. Everyone knows canines naturally do that when they are happy, but Louis just couldn't compute how this was even possible. A tiny rabbit bringing a large carnivore such joy? Did Legoshi just have a particular fetish? Not once had his tail ever remotely hinted joy around Louis!

And as he stared on, the bouquet in his hand became long forgotten as flowers started to spill out.

But the ones that remained within were soon crushed up into Louis's hands as he balled them into fists.

Legoshi is a mighty beast with strength that can kill. He was disgracing his own kind by stooping low to someone like Haru, a puny rabbit with nothing but a reputation in the school as being the slut that will sleep with any boy who's brave enough to enter her domain. Louis knew all about the one-night stands she would have in private, but for the sake of their relationship and having access to the garden club, he kept quiet about it. The red deer was certain she would try to take advantage of Legoshi.

Louis gritted down on his teeth, almost chipping a tooth in the process.

Ducking away before Haru or Legoshi would notice the deer's heartbreak, Louis quickly grabbed the remains of the destroyed flowers and stuffed them back into the bouquet so a trail of evidence didn't get left behind.

Quietly making his way to the exit and rushing down the staircase, there was nothing but fury clouding Louis's mind.

Of all the people, of all the days this had to happen, it was today. Legoshi couldn't have found out any other time before or after to break his heart, it just had to be now.

The red deer had never cried since he was just an infant, but for the first time in his life, he could feel the sting of tears threatening to spill.

Before anyone could notice his vulnerable state, Louis rushed out of the school and back to his personal dorm he gladly didn't have to share. As soon as the door was closed and locked, the buck impulsively delivered a right hook to the wall adjacent. After letting the pain of his regrettable action subside, removing his fist revealed a crack in the wall.

It was small...very small.

To Louis, it was pathetic, not even anything one could brag about.

"A weak little herbivore, that's all I am..."

Sliding down the wall and curling into a puny ball, Louis opted to do nothing but let his thoughts wander and manifest.

He could never imagine acting like things were normal and trying to ignore the feelings he had for Legoshi after this, not if he had to torturously carry on like usual around him in the drama club nearly every day.

He would never be able to see Haru the same way again, even if none of this was her fault in the first place.

No matter what he had crossed the point of no return. Louis had to do something, he could not allow this.

Thus, horrible thoughts swarmed the stag's mind as his weak mental barriers began to finally break down. Louis squeezed his fists and curled his toes.

Legoshi was given powers in life that he never appreciated. He continually tried to present himself as weak in order to blend in with society. But worst of all now, the wolf thought it was okay to spend his time with an inferior little rabbit that would easily take advantage of him.

That tall idiot didn't deserve what he was given, it should all be Louis's. He wanted to help Legoshi realize all the potential he was born with. He wanted Legoshi all to himself.

The buck became convinced he was the only one that could truly make Legoshi happy. He knew the wolf loves egg sandwiches, enjoys interacting with bugs, canine games, and a dozen more things off the top of his head after being around him in the drama club for so long.

No one else knew Legoshi like Louis did, not even his own roommates. Legoshi was supposed to be his, and his only.

And like a cartoony lightbulb suddenly appearing above his head, Louis suddenly unfurled when one of his darkest thoughts presented itself as a brilliant idea.

Calmly walking to the wall of books beside his bed, Louis brushed his thumb over the thick hardback covers they all provided. After skimming over the neatly categorized sections, his eyes found the one book he was looking for. Opening it up and flipping through the pages to find what he was looking for, Louis couldn't help but feel an uncontrollable smirk spread across his face.

There was still one way he could make Legoshi love him.

And if anyone was going to stand in his way, he would have to do something drastic.

And that's chapter one. But don't worry, this is just the start 3

Next chapter will be uploaded sometime around the beginning of January when I'm not procrastinating. My semester recently ended though so I have a lot more time to continue writing and fully fleshing this story out. As of now, so far there will likely be about 5 chapters. I think that's a pretty decent amount, especially since I don't want to stretch this out longer than I have ideas and longer than this needs to be.

If you enjoyed it so far, leave a review or criticism or whatever since I enjoy any type of feedback. If you make fanart for this fic just send me a message here on AO3 because I would be more than happy to include it.
