"I am back"

With that proclamation, I have returned to where I was all those days ago, reciting the chant to lift the veil to San Lorenzo.

I, Puss in Boots, had accidentally opened the veil to this land by stealing from the vault which, through a string of catastrophic events, led to the end of the world.

Fortunately, The Great Mage Sino sent my spirit back in time to the moment before I went through.

At first, I was still going to go through the veil to enter the town until I remembered my time there, the people I befriended there, and the adventures I had there.

However, the person that made my time there special was Dulcinea. It was the whole reason I was going to do it. Sure, in the beginning, she may have been a little naive but over time, I started to see how sweet and kind she was and no matter what happens, she was always there for me.

You might even say, in a way, she was my true love.

Due to that, I decided to not enter the veil and left with the fear knowing that I will never say them again.

Especially Dulcinea.

Returning to the thieves' market, a wretched hive of scum and villainy, I decide to get some Leche to drink to clear my mind.

"This is good leche, Pajuna" I said

"Who is Pajuna?"

Honestly, I was never good at remembering that guy's name.

"It's Raul, Puss."

That voice, it can't be. At first, I thought I was hearing things as if my imagination was playing tricks on me…until it came back.

"His name is Raul"

With one turn of my head, it was her. Dulcinea, wearing the same armor that she accidentally killed me in though I got better.

"Are you ready for adventure?" She said,

The disbelief was staggering. I can't believe my eyes. I needed to know how she got her.

"How the..who the…why the… what, when, where?!?!? How are you here in the first place?"

In all honesty, I should have phrased that a bit better.

"What do you mean? I thought you would be happy I'm back?" She said,

"But I am. I don't know what I would do if you were a hallucination or something. I am just wanting to know how you are here?"

"Well, it's kind of simple. After you were gone, I was devastated that I wasn't going to see you again so I pleaded with Sino to send me back to be with you…" Dulcinea answered

"And he said yes" I asked

"He did but that wasn't it" she said

"Huh?"

"You see, Sino told that even without The Bloodwolf, there might be a more evil power out there who wants nothing more than ultimate power and thinks that me and you are the only ones to stop them." She answered

"Wow, that's what he meant the hero the world needs"

With the information, I was worried. A fiend more evil than The Bloodwolf for me to face. It was a lot to take in.

It was then I noticed that my love had here paws on my shoulders as a way to comfort me.

"It's okay, Puss. We don't have to worry about it now. We can cross this bridge when we get to it"

Like I said, always there for me.

"Used Horses!!!! Get your used horses here!!!! We have Mustangs, we have Lusitanos, and heck, we even have unicorns. Buy one now and you can get this free magic wand which is totally magic and not just a useless stick!!!!"

As you probably guessed by that noise, our talk was interrupted by a used horse salesman nearby as I realized something.

"If we are going on a adventure, you need some transportation for it"

"Oh right, I almost forgot about that. Come on, we don't have all day!!!"

She ran towards the salesman while I just stood there looking at her with an expression of clear love and devotion.

That and her hips swaying as she walks doesn't hurt as well.

"Puss?"

My love entranced gaze was broken by her voice.

"Aren't you coming?"

Of course, I already knew what I was going to say.

"Definitely, mi amor"

From that day forward, we were inseparable and I knew we were going to live happily ever after.

However, just like reality itself or a Fox animated sitcom, the tale of these two lovers was far from over.

As the Gods high up in the heavens would say,

The years start coming and they don't stop coming!

Author's Note

Welcome, fairy tale THINGS, to The Adventures of Puss and Dulcinea. This is an alternate retelling of the Shrek films, where Dulcinea came along with Puss on his adventures.

The idea came from noticing that Dulcinea is being forgotten due to Kitty Softpaws, who isn't a bad character I mind you, being Puss' official love interest as of Puss in Boots 2. So, I decided to take Inspiration from TheDragonSaver' GOTG AU fanfic, Halfworlders of The Galaxy, to give Dulcy some justice as well as expand on the ending of the series finale of The Netflix Series even further.

However, I am not going to do Puss in Boots next (I am saving that for later, you'll see) and going into Puss' first appearance, Shrek 2.

-Puss' description of the thieves' market is a reference to Star Wars: A New Hope where Obi Wan describes Mos Esiley as such. Puss' reaction to Dulcinea's presence is a reference to the Looney Tunes short, Tortoise

-Beats Hare, where Bugs questions Cecil on how he beat him in the race. The used horse salesman is a reference to the Marty Feldman Comedy, The Last Remake of Beau Geste, where an action scene was interrupted by a commercial for a used camel dealership.

-The last line of this chapter, given by this story's narrator going forward, is a reference to the most famous song to come out of the Shrek Franchise, All Star.
