Prologue: Enter, the Diabolus Twins from Another World Ritchie and Brandon
In the world of Terrarium many kingdoms exist alongside one another. Each one with a unique set of Guilds that help the people with tasks and protect them from magical harm. Our story takes place in the kingdom of Atlantide a democratic monarchy under the kind and fair rule of King James Aquarius the 25th.
Currently the aged monarch and his wife along with their children and grandchild were preparing for their oldest child's coronation as the new king of Atlantide. They had sent out word a few months ago to the other royal families of the Parva Alliance to inform them of the news and invite them to the ceremony and party that was to come. The same had been done with their kingdom's Royal Guilds. The guilds that were responsible for regulating guild laws and ensuring that magic wasn't being used for nefarious purposes.
Meanwhile, in Atlantide's capital city of Oceanus in one of the guildhalls two brothers were waking up. Their names were Ritchie and Brandon Diabolus, guild members of the royal guild of The Wondering Coins. It hadn't always been like this though. You see Ritchie and Brandon were from another world called Horedora where magic was basically nonexistent in the kingdom that they were from.
One day while they were out exploring they made their way to a portal that took them to this world on their travels while they were trying to make their way home they encountered a black cloaked man who asked them some questions and then forced lacriamas into their chest and they found themselves with new powers that they weren't able to control and demons inside their souls. This caused them to lose control over their bodies.
The demons used their bodies to commit many crimes and reign havoc on the people of Atlantide while only being stopped by the brother's tenacity and strength when they managed to take back control temporarily. Until one day the Three Royal Guild Leaders of Atlantide and their second in commands managed to take them down with their own magics. Seeing the truth about their situation they managed to get them pardoned for the crimes their demons had committed on the condition that they served one year with one of the royal guilds. The Wondering Coins had been chosen because their guild leader had been the one who took them down. Now they lived peacefully under the care of their grandmother who had been sent to this new world many years before and Reaper who would train and teach them how to control their newfound powers.
It had now been an entire year since they came to this world and only three months since they began their mandatory guild service. It was mostly easy going so far having begun to adapt to the life of a guild member. Right now they were in their dorm at the Wondering Coin's Guild Hall. As part of their sentence they had to live on the campus of The Wondering Coins Guildhall so the seal keeping their demons in check and ensure that it was working properly.
The room itself was a room more than big enough for two people to live in together. The room had two beds, each decorated in the preferred color palette of the brother the bed belonged to. On the right side of the room was Ritchie's bed decorated in blue and yellow and the bed on the left side of the room had Brandon's with white and purple. There were also two desk and a tv in the back of the room. Along with a simple purple and yellow couch.
Upon waking up they began to get ready for the day. Ritchie wore a blue poncho with yellow tassels that opened on his left side, secured with a golden clasp and brown leather pants with black leather boots. His guild mark was on his left wrist and his blue hair was unkept with a yellow head band with white polka dots that he had from home.
Brandon on the other hand had opted to forgo having a headband since he lost a long his time ago but kept a similar look to his brother. His poncho was opened on the right side showing his guild mark clearly. Instead of being blue and yellow it was white and purple and was secured by the same gold clasp that Ritchie's had. He had gray pants with pockets and the same black boots has Ritchie.
After getting dressed they sat on the coach and turned on the tv that they had to watch the news. Being members of a royal guild they were required to maintain a descent awareness of currant events in Atlantide. So they made a habit of checking the news every morning and would talk about what they heard and how it would affect them.
The Daily Oceanus Prophet was the news station that they chose to watch. It was a highly reliable news source with no bias whatsoever. A perfect news source for someone like them that has to stay up to date on the latest events. On the screen was a woman with brown hair and an appropriate dress and tactful makeup.
Hello and welcome to The Daily Oceanus Prophet channel new at seven. My name is Ellen Mouritsen and I'm your host for today's news. And today we have some breaking news for you all. King James has announced his abdication of the throne! He is placing his son Crown Prince Steven on the throne. We now go live to our Royal Expert Vivian Andreasen.
The screen changed to a woman standing outside the palace that served has the kingdom's government's headquarters. "Hello Ellen, yes it is true that his majesty has announced his abdications of the throne. While he didn't state his reasoning for this it is widely believed that it is due to his declining health during these lasts few years after his assassination attempt during the Parva Alliance's Political Civil War. You might know the second anniversary of our victory over the sunflower cult is coming in just a few months. A few days to the day that King James plans to coronate Crown Prince Steven has King of Atlantide. There are many people who are speculated to be present at the coronation such has Lord Samuel of house Bluewater who is expected to act has his advisor during his reign, Princess Carline of Magiclica and her sisters and parents, Prince Donatello of Minecraftia and several others. A lot of them are already on their way to becoming king or queen of their kingdoms. Back to you Ellen"
The screen changed back to Ellen, and she smiled. "Thank you Ellen, Prince Steven will be the first new ruler in a post political civil war climate which means not only will he be inheriting the kingdom but what damage had been done to our kingdom by the war. Fortunately for him he's inheriting one of the lesser damaged kingdoms of the alliance but what will this mean for his first few years on the throne Vivian?"
"Well Ellen what normally the worst a new regent would face in their first year on the throne at the worst would be politicians trying to see what they can get away with or a few scandals that are made by them to hold some leverage over the monarchy and building relations with other royal families and other world leaders. However this won't entirely be the case this time around due to the war for a number of reasons both related to it and not. For example with the incidents involving the illegitimate rulers during the war Crown Prince Steven will have more experience spotting bribery and other dirty political tactics that have been declared illegal. On top of that many other kingdoms in the alliance have already or are in the process of changing rulers. Furthermore the crown is already familiar and on good terms with many of these new or new rulers to be. In other words while he'll be inheriting a shaky political climate he will be in a strong position to do so."
"I see and what about the line of succession how will Crown Prince Steven's Coronation affect the line and the people in it? From what we know there could be a lot of factors that could change the line this time around." Ellen asked the question with a smile.
"Well Ellen, like every time Atlantide has gone through a change of rulers the new line of succession won't be made official until the coronation ceremony. However the projected line of succession is like this. Frist in line would be Marque Lenard who will become crown prince, Current Crown Prince Steven's twin brother Prince Stephen who will become Archduke, followed by Prince Aeron who will become Duke and then Archduke when he turns eighteen and finally Duchess Maria who will become Viscountess until she turns eighteen and will become Countess.
Now this line of succession could change depending on prince Steven's relationship with Princess Carline Oakwoods of Magiclica. Which from what I've seen is going much better now that the illegitimate King Tomas of the sunflower cult is out of the picture. If Prince Steven marries Princess Carline not only will she become part of our royal family but her three children, Marque Charlie, Marchioness Ruby, and Marchioness Arianna Oakwoods of Magiclica who would become Prince and Princesses of Atlantide. Also we have Prince Stephen dating a commoner so if that goes well it would change the line of succession by extending it to holding seven people and eventually nine or more depending on how many children the Crown Prince, his siblings and cousin have with their significant others."
"Thank you Vivian the details of the coronation event are still in development but what we can say is that security details will be highly active during the events. People living in Oceanus should expect tighter security in the capital for the remainder of King James reign. Peacekeepers will be stationed throughout the capital and patrolling the area while the guards at the palace will be upping security there too. Anyone who has an audience with his majesty should expect multiple body searches and magic checks. The royal family expects that the kingdom will make sure that his majesty's last days on the throne are peaceful, thank you. In other news…"
Brandon and Ritchie turned off the tv has breakfast was brought to them by their grandmother. "Morning you two time for breakfast! Today you have waffles and sausage." She smiled at her grandsons happily. "Glad to see you're both dressed. Reaper wants you both in his office right after breakfast. He has some very important things to tell the both of you. So eat up and get yourselves down there has soon has your done." She smiled and she left the room to let her nephews eat in peace.
"What do you think Father Reaper wants to talk to us about?" Ritchie asked his brother with a curious tone. Brandon thought for a moment before giving an answer.
"I don't know but if I had to guess I think it more than likely about the news this morning." Brandon suggested with a nod. Having grown up in a kingdom themselves they knew that receiving a new ruler was a big deal for the kingdom and its citizens. With a new ruler came new ideas about how the kingdom would be run and political reform. True, in most cases they were similar to their parents but there were a number of other people that could influence them like teachers, servants and advisors.
Ritchie thought about his brother's suggestion carefully. Reaper had not only been teaching the two about their magic, but their new country's politics, laws, and culture. While there was some similarities there were many differences that the two boys could see even during their first lessons when they were merely learning the basics of their new kingdom's way of life. Most but far from all of it was influenced by the use of magic in this land.
While something similar to magic called "Gifts" had existed in their home world it wasn't nearly strong or used the same way that magic was used here. Furthermore, they had little to no interaction with it due to their father banning the use of it to them and most of the kingdom when he took the throne from their uncle in a coup.
Ritchie shook the thoughts of his past from his mind and set them aside for the time being. Now wasn't the time to reminisce. It was time to learn, and he needed to be ready. Every time a student meets with their teacher in this country they are expected to present themselves as if they were ready for the lesson.
They were at the door to Reaper's office now, Ritchie knocked and informed Reaper that they were there for their daily lesson and that their grandmother had told them that he had something to discuss with them. It was only a few minutes' wait before they were told to enter the room.
Reaper was a man in his early fifties. His hair was still brown, and his eyes were dule colored. His Right eye bore the color light green while his left was brown. He wore a gray and brown tunic with matching boots with a matching gray hat. "Good morning you two. Thank you for coming in so early. Please have a seat, we have much to talk about."
The two brothers obeyed and sat in the offered seats. "I'm sure that your aware by now that Crown Prince Steven is due to take the throne soon." Reaper started has Ritchie and Brandon nodded to his satisfaction. "He shall be taking the throne a few months from today. With that in mind it is time that I prepare you for what will happen in the days to come. As one of the royal guilds of Atlantide we will be expected to be present at the coronation and the days leading up to it. Our duty to the crown at that time will be to assist in the transition of power. There will be those who will try and interfere with the peaceful transition of power. Our duty will be to stop them before they can harm the crown prince or his family. Do you understand why this is?"
"Yes Father Reaper, when do we leave for the Palace?" Brandon asked the man with a curious tone. He and Ritchie knew what Reaper said was true. After all they had been the victims of many kidnapping and assassination attempts in their life thus far.
"In a week's time. You are both to have your luggage prepared by the day before. Be sure to have your royal guild uniform prepared by that time as well. We will be expected to arrive dressed in uniform understood?" Reaper replied has Ritchie and Brandon nodded.
"Good now then for today's lesson we are going to talk about a resent historical event that shaped the politics that we have today. This event is called the Parva Alliance Political Civil War." Reaper began with a frown. "Tell me what do you two know about this event so far? I know that you should have heard a little about it on the news."
"We did, I was actually going to ask you about this since they didn't say much about it. All I know is that our side one and that we were fighting a group of people name the Sunflower cult and they somehow took over a kingdom in the alliance." Brandon replied with a frown.
"I see, yes that, for the most part, is correct. You see it wasn't just one kingdom that almost fell to the Sunflower cult. Almost all of them fell… It started in the year 1654 during this time the first inheritors of the alliance were starting their school years at Everston Academy. That was when Lady Victoria Roseburg of house Gardenrose met then Prince Jonathan Trumpelder of Vairakya. He 'fell in love' with Victoria for her money and wanted to take it from her. But while she did love him for a time she realized the truth about him and tried to break off their relationship, but he refused, which escalated to the point of legal action being taken. As they approached their high school years in 1658 many of them found themselves a lover of their own but not without trouble.
There was a time when Prince Jonathan tried to force Lady Victoria to date him and marry into his family. Fortunately through the efforts of then Crown Prince Davidson and his friends they were able to take care of the situation but not before Jonathan and his kingdom's men who believed that he should have been crown prince kill the all the members of house Gardenrose barring Victoria to force her to marry him so he could take the house's wealth since she would be the last inheritor of the family wealth.
After that Jonathan was expelled from his school Everston Academy and sent to a reform school by his family since it was found that he also had a part in the death of most of the royal family of Vairakya with the exception of his parents and his brother Prince Gabrielo Trumpelder. However he and his friend then prince Tomas Grimes of Aubretia, made plans to force the woman they loved to marry them for their wealth. While Jonathan failed for a time, Tomas succeeded but not before Queen Sofia had married before and had four daughters three of whom were cursed and sent away. While Queen Sofia believed their true father King Oliver dead King Tomas threatened her three of her daughters lives in secret. That is how he became king regent of the kingdom of Magiclica.
Over time the first remained with their mother while the one was hidden from him by Queen Sofia's sister Queen Lidia of Kharian but he eventually found them and the other two hidden by King Tomas's true lover Queen Ramona of Braetozia which she took over from the at royal family who were allied with her home kingdom of Aedrobemore by assassinating them. At least all except one who was the ex-lover of Tomas Princess Clare Lightbourn of Aedrobemore.
These people who illegally took over these kingdoms and their associates were known as the Sunflower cult. It remained like this until then Princess Kelaina, her sisters and their friends entered Everston academy. Though out this time the cult began the second phase of their plans to eradicate the traces of the original and rightful royal families. However under the care of head teacher Scott Turtleson the children formed the little club. In the meantime the Sunflower cult had gained control of most of the alliance. Up until this point is what we call the first phase of the war." Reaper summarized softly.
"So in other words it was a time of coups and corruption. It lasted over 12 years without anyone, even the children of the rightful royal families, noticing anything. How in the world does something like this happen?" Ritchie asked while trying to shake the thoughts of how similar the strategy the Sunflower Cult used was to what his father did to get the throne of his home kingdom.
"How such deeds occurred without anyone knowing outside of those involved remains a mystery that is being investigated even now. Regardless, eventually the war progressed into its second phase. At this point Minecraftia and Atlantide were the only two Kingdoms left free of the Sunflower Cult's influence and the children of the legitimate rulers began their time at Everston Academy just as their parents once did.
During this time, King Tomas and Jonathan, working with their true lovers Queen Ramona and Queen Magda of Vairakya. They started by revealing Ramona has Tomas's wife after they faked the death of Queen Sofia and having Magda place a mine control spell on Victoria. They also kidnapped the royal children of the kingdom's they wanted to take over and made them into slaves.
Thankfully their civilian friends and their teachers were aware of the issues regarding their families and on top of that princess Kelaina with her first younger sister Princess Carline managed to escape the palace of Magiclica and from them and made her way to Everston academy and told her homeroom teacher. With that the war went into its third and final phase.
After Princess Kelaina's escape and subsequently being found with her sister almost half dead, this combined with the proof that Ally Morose and the fact that they had placed their children in protective custody months prior was enough to arrest Ramona and Tomas for their crimes and overrule any and all immunity.
During this time it was found that not only did the faked Queen Sofia death, but King Oliver's has well. Needless to say this sparked an even wider investigation that led to the discovery of the Sunflower cult and what followed was an international efforts by all the guilds of the Parva alliance to investigate and a decrease in trust in all the governments in the alliance for not noticing anything beforehand. However The illegitimate rulers managed to flee before they could face justice for their actions and are still being searched for now.
Thankfully with the aid of the royal children and their friends also known has the little club we were able to find most if not all of them. This is the summarized version of the war. I'll go into more detail about it in our later war. We will go into further detail in later lessons right now what you need to learn is the impact of this war on our people today. Now can one of you tell me how these events might impact the upcoming coronation?" Reaper asked his students calmly.
"Well if the Sunflower cults chosen rulers haven't been caught yet then wouldn't that mean the king and queen would be worried that they might try and interfere in the coronation. So that means they would more than likely up security more than normal for the coronation. They'd also probably be more careful about who they assigned to the party and the guest list too. Not to mention the staff details and such." Brandon frowned thoughtfully.
"Ture… not to mention minimize the number of details released to the public about the plans for the ceremony. That would lower the chances that someone could get in and sabotage the events. They'd also probably not allow and of the guest to bring more without permission. Plus with Princess Carline and her adopted children moving into the palace they was bound to have more security already." Ritchie nodded in addition to his brother's thoughts. The class continued with Reaper and the twins talking over how coronation would impact the kingdom.
