The Espers were once ordinary humes born with extraordinary powers. Zodiark, though the most powerful, was the youngest and was unaware of what the Occuria was using them for. Pre-FFXII. Rated T for some material.

2. Zodiark the Dark

Chapter 1-Zodiark of the Dark

"So this is where Anna is from." The Occurian looked at Zokarios.

"Who is this Anna you speak of, child?" it asked.

"Anna was my nursemaid," Zokarios replied. "She took care of me after my parents died."

"Gerun, who is this?" a rather pale hume with dark hair and dark eyes asked as he approached.

"Zalera, this is Zokarios," the Occurian, Gerun, said. It turned to Zokarios. "Zokarios, this is Emet-Selch but we call him Zalera. He's one of the people who live here."

"Hello, Zalera," Zokarios replied.

"So you're the new one," the bone-white hume, Zalera, said. "What is his special skill?"

"From what we can gather it is darkness," Gerun replied.

Silence.

"I'll call you Zodiark," Zalera said. "Because if you take out the 'i', it sounds like Zodark which sounds like 'so dark' when you say it very fast."

Another silence.

"Zalera, what's your special power?"

A/N: I didn't want to go too far into the chapter as the next one will be over a clash between Zalera and Zokarios (now Zodiark) as well as the latter being introduced to the others.
