A crazy idea from the mind of "What If Maria Robotnik survived?". Presenting "What if Knuckles was born a girl?" in the Archie Sonic universe. Sonic had always viewed his super form as something positive; something that gave people hope. A nice trump card in an otherwise losing situation or a nice safety net to keep for the right moment. The emeralds might be hard to track down sometimes but in the end it had always been worth it. So why did he feel a sense of dread when looking at them now? Something was wrong.
