Epilogue

Six years, four months later

Brittany was running a successful dance studio that provided back-up dancers for commercials/videos/television/movies/whatever you needed a back-up dancer for, you called Brittany's studio.

Santana was enjoying herself performing in small venues around the city while spending most of her time songwriting. Several of her songs had been major hits; including Mercedes' break out hit "I Don't Need Your Opinion".

Quinn was working for a small publishing house as an in-house copy-editor and Gabe had started his own IT company.

Dr. Jorge Lopez lost his license to practice medicine after his arrest for trying to kidnap Santana. As far as anyone knows (or cares) he's a recluse living in his big lonely house.

Kevin Everhardt and Kyle Danvers each received ten years in Federal Prison after being convicted of hate crimes against Santana.

Brittany looked across the altar at Santana. She looked beautiful and Brittany still marveled at the fact that Santana chose her. As if she sensed the blonde looking at her, Santana looked up and smiled. Brittany's face lit up in response.

"Dearly beloved we are gathered here to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony …"

Brittany wasn't really paying attention; her mind wandered back to three years prior.

flashback

Brittany shook her hands out. She wasn't really nervous. More excited. Nervicited! That was a word, right?

Today, she was marrying the love of her life. Her soulmate.

It was a beautiful fall day in September. They had just started their junior year of college and, over the summer, they'd decided they didn't want to wait anymore. So they figured out everything they wanted, and didn't want, and set the date.

There was a knock at the door and Whitney popped her head in. "You ready, sweetie?"

"More than ready, mom."

"Well, Santana is standing by her door so, get into place."

They had decided that they would walk down the aisle together. Brittany took a deep breath and stepped out of her door and turned to her left. There was the most beautiful woman she'd ever seen with a smile that included her whole face; eye crinkles, scrunchy nose, deep dimples, beautiful teeth, and sparkling eyes. Brittany felt her whole face light up as she saw her bride for the first time.

They walked toward each other and joined hands, each murmuring "God, you look so beautiful!"

When they reached the altar, they turned and handed their bouquets over to their Maid-of-Honor and their Man-of-Honor before turning back toward one another.

"Britt!" Quinn hissed, shaking Brittany from her reverie.

Brittany blushed and smiled apologetically while handing Quinn the ring. Quinn just shook her head and turned back toward her groom.

Quinn and Gabe had been exchanging emails since he left to go back to California. Nothing serious, just general friend chit-chat. Then they'd started texting; Quinn venting to Gabe about her classes and him giving her tips on how to destress. They'd each dated people but nothing really "stuck". When they'd met up again at Brittany and Santana's wedding, their chemistry was undeniable. Quinn was just starting her junior year and Gabe was looking for a new challenge so he moved to New York to be near his sister; which just so happened to put him a short train ride to Connecticut.

Three years later and they were exchanging their own vows. Brittany had never seen Quinn happier.

After the ceremony, they headed to the reception hall. It was a rather small affair, a few close friends and family members.

Brittany placed her hand on the small of Santana's back and led her to a chair. "You okay, baby? You want some water?"

"Britt, I'm fine. A little tired, but fine."

"We don't have to stay late."

"It's my brother's wedding, Britt, I'm not leaving early. Although, I am regretting these shoes. My feet are so swollen," she whined.

Brittany chuckled. "I did tell you," she said, pulling a pair of comfortable ballerina flats out of her bag. "Give me your feet."

Santana beamed in gratitude. "You take such good care of me." She almost moaned as Brittany massaged her feet before slipping the flats on and putting her heels in the bag.

"You're carrying my babies," she grinned, "it's the least I could do."

The twins were due in three months and Brittany did everything she could to reassure Santana that she was still beautiful and not a whale.

"I love you, Britt, to infinity."

"and beyond, I love you, too, Santana."

So that's the end. I felt it needed an epilogue but I'm not so sure this really satisfies. I considered not doing an epilogue but then it felt "unfinished". Any/all constructive criticisms are welcome. Thanks for joining me on this journey :)
