Sorry this is kinda boring and really short. There are probably two more parts to Before He Cheats and then we'll move on to This Little Girl. That will have three parts, I think. And Fighter will have two or three, and then there will be the epilogue. Also, the end not is actually a poll, and is super important.

Chapter 3 - Before He Cheats: Part 2

The first thing I noticed was that everyone who realized what was taking place in the corner has fallen silent, and elbows their friends, pointing us out, until all eyes were on us. Not a whisper passed the lips of a single person in our audience, but this didn't seem to bother Ranger or the Merry Men as they made their way over to us slowly, Ranger's boots purposely making a small thud on the wooden floors with every measured step.

By the time they got to the table, the tension surrounded us, but I was proud to note that inside our bubble of calm, everyone acted naturally. Of course, it would have been redundant for me to be the only one in disguise, and so when Connie, Mary Lou and I had gone shopping those weeks ago, we'd gotten "costumes" for everyone else, too. Mary Lou and Valerie both wore brunette wigs, but Val's was considerably darker. Terry wore a muddy blond wig with bangs, Joyce and Jeanne Ellen had similarly curly black wigs, and Connie looked very different as a blond. Lula had died her hair back to its original shade of soft, straight black, and though I'd never say it, I was shocked she could remember she had normal hair. Besides the wigs, they'd all worn colored contacts and dressed similarly to me, but we weren't uniform.

I had returned my attention to Connie, who was talking animatedly in French - another thing I'd "forgotten" to mention these past few weeks was that we'd all been taking classes and actually, we were pretty fluent by now - only glancing up when their shadows darkened the table. "Excuse us," Lester started, "but this is our table."

We all glanced up at him for a moment, before Connie turned to me. "Hein. Avez-vous vu une étiquette de propriété, Lucy?"

I laughed and threw my feet up onto the table, crossing my arms across my chest, and, in an obvious manner, brushed my fingers over the whip. "Je n'ai pas, Emily. Mais là encore, je ne cherchais pas, que ce soit." I paused to smirk, before adding, "Devinez ils vont devoir se débrouiller avec l'un des quinze autres tables disponibles."

The Merry Men shifted for a minute, before Tank spoke up. "Yeah. They don't give a damn, Les."

Ranger cut his gaze to Tank, merely for a second, before murmuring, "You girls do speak English, right?" to which we all threw our heads back in laughter and Tank smacked him in the back of the head. Before he could make fun of him, though, I butted in, thickening the French accent.

"We knew what your green-eyed minion was saying, did we not? But then, I would not expect a fool to catch something so subtle." I finished with a snort that somehow remained dainty.

"Aye!" Lester griped. "I'm not a minion." Completely ignoring him, Terry finally looked at Ranger.

"My name is Faye. They are Lucy - whom you've already met - Merci, Amie, Natalee and Odetta. We were looking for a friend, but she seems to have disappeared. You wouldn't happen to know Stephanie Plum, would you?"

My gaze flashed to Terry. What the hell was she doing?

Translations - they're actually super boring:

1) Huh. Did you see a property tag, Lucy?

2) I did not, Emily. But then, I was not looking, either.

3) Guess they'll just have to make do with one of the fifteen other tables available.

Important Vote: Depending on the way this goes (I have a plot line but I almost never stick to those) this story will have one of four endings. Each ending already has a theme song, and they have varying degrees of HEAs, but you might not expect the one that I think is the happiest to have such an odd song. Wanna know why I'm telling you this? Because I'm going to give you the four songs and put the ending of this story up to vote.
Now, you aren't going to actually know the ending, you'll have to listen to the songs and figure out the mood, and from that, pick which one you think would best wrap up the story. Just remember the phrase: Don't judge a book by its cover. One song is thought to be "happy." That is the only song that has a non-HEA ending. Anyway.
The choices are: Cobra Starship's "Good Girls Go Bad", Late Night Alumni's "Meant to Be" Christina Perry's "A Thousand Years" or Christina Aguilera's "I Hate Boys." They're all HEA's some more than others, but you won't know which is the happiest, at least, most people say it's the happiest. I gotta be honest, right now I'm leaning toward Cobra Starship. So: tell me what you think!
