To all of you who were wondering, neither Lissa nor Adrian could heal Alek. It was more of a continuous thing that wouldn't go away when they tried and came back with a vengeance which quickened his death.

Chapter 8
Nikoli POV
Mommy was carried in to the house by Uncle Adrian. I was happy to see her. She hadn't come home at all while Alek was in the hopsical. I walked up to her and Adrian. "Mommy!" I saw her look down at me and pale.
"Niki, why don't you go tell your brother and sister that your mother's home?" asked Adrian.
"Okay. But mommy, where's Alek?" Mommy started crying. Adrian walked past me toward the stairs. I figured he was going to her room.
I went to the play room to get Aleksi and Zak. They were both playing with blocks on the floor. "Leksi. Zak. Mommy's home!" They looked up at me with hope in their eyes.
Aleksi was the first to speak. "Where's Alek?" I shrugged my shoulders and she sighed and rolled her eyes at me. "Of course you wouldn't know. Where's Momma at?"
"I think Adrian took her to her room. But don't talk about Alek. It makes her sad."
They nodded and we all went to Mommy's room. Adrian was laying on her bed with her. Zak walked in first. "Mommy, you're back!" He jumped onto the bed and hugged her. Aleksi and I followed soon after. She looked at me and Zak and started crying again. She refused to hug any of us until Adrian gave her a look.
"What's wrong Momma? Where's Alek?" Only Aleksi, I thought.
Mommy refused to answer. She was crying so hard I thought she would run out of tears for sure.
Adrian answered for her. "Guys, Alek's not coming home." I could see the tears in his eyes.
"Why? Is he still sick?"
"No Niki. He's up in the sky now."
"When's he coming down?" asked Zak.
"He's not in the sky in that kind of sense honey."
"What do you mean then?" I had to know. It didn't make sense. Why was Mommy home without Alek?
"He died baby. " The tears finally leaked out of his eyes.
"Died?" all of us asked in unison. Mommy nodded. We all knew what that meant. Aunt Lissa had explained it to us a few months after Akek was in the hopsical. My brother was dead. He was with God now. We all burst into tears.
I grabbed onto Mommy and she pried my hand off and whispered something to Adrian and he picked me and Aleksi up and told Zak to follow him. He walked us down to the kitchen. "Do you guys want a snack?" We weakly nodded. He put me and Aleksi down in a chair and Zak climbed up in one.
Adrian opened the cabinet with our sippie cups and pulled out four. He opened the fridge and pulled out the chocolate milk. He poured it into the cups and noticed he poured a fourth cup. He slammed it into the sink and put his head in his hands while leaning on the sink.
I got down from my chair and went over to him. "Uncle Adrian? Are you okay?" He looked up quickly at me.
"I'm fine buddy." I could see his eyes were a little red and puffy. He put the lids on our cups and handed them to us. He then dug in the cabinets and grabbed the oreos and gave each of us four. He again grabbed an extra four and instantly put them back. He sat down and rubbed the back of his neck with his right hand. It seemed Uncle Adrian was struggling with something.
Adrian POV
I slammed the cup in the sink when I realized I had poured four of them and put my head in my hands. I still did everything in fours. "Uncle Adrian? Are you okay?"
I looked up instantly, startled by Nikoli's voice. "I'm fine buddy." I put the lids on the kids' cups and handed them to them. I went through the cabinets till I found the oreos. I gave each kid four and was about to give four to Alekzandre before I realized he wasn't there and put them back.
I sat down and rubbed the back of my neck with my right hand. I was slowly starting to lose it. I needed to be strong for the kids and Rose. She couldn't even stand to look at her children. The kids understood perfectly when I told them that Alek had died. Nikoli was the first one to seek comfort and Rose couldn't give it to him. I understood her but she had more than one kid and she needed to take care of them.
The kids were practically my own. I couldn't have them being hurt worse than already. I was upset about Alek. Who wouldn't be? But I couldn't break down like I wanted to. Lissa was out with Christian and the rest of the quads needed to be cared for. Obviously Rose couldn't do that.
I could feel eyes on me. I turned and smiled at the kids. I could feel it wasn't a real one. It was forced and they could tell. Aleksi came and sat on my lap carrying her cup with her. "You can cry, Uncle Adrian."
She was already crying and I hugged her. Zak came over next and buried his face in my side Nikoli was the last one to come over to me. I held an arm out to him he buried his face in my other side while Aleksi buried her face in my neck
I let a few tears leak out. This was what the children needed. Comfort. Rose couldn't give it now but I could. This should have been Dimitri's job. Comforting his kids. But of course we hadn't been able to get a hold of him. My anger burned through my sadness. The bastard hadn't even cared enough to see his son before he died.
I looked back down at Zakariah and my anger softened and the tears came back. My anger could wait until these kids got to bed. This is how Lissa and Christian found us. Lissa immediately thought the worst. "I- is he…?" I nodded and she and fire crotch broke into tears. "Where's Rose?" she asked suddenly.
"In her room why?" She just took off. I grabbed who I could and took off after her. I heard Lissa scream and I burst through the door. Rose was laying there. There was a long gash down her arm gushing blood. A razor blade was still in her hand. Lissa made her way over to her and healed her arm.
"Why'd you do that Liss? Why didn't you let me be with him?" I was shocked at Rose. I knew she was upset about Alek but I didn't think she would go that far.
"You have other kids to think about Rose. Did you think about that? How do you think they would feel if they lost their brother and their mom in one night?"
"I just want to be with him Liss."
Aleksi squirmed in my arms and looked at her mother. "Why don't you want to be with us Momma? Don't you love us?"
Rose's eyes moved to her daughter. "I thought I told you to keep them out of here Adrian." That was the only confirmation Aleksi needed. She wriggled out of my arms and ran out crying. After a few seconds so did Zak.
"Did you really need to do that Rose?" I ran after them and found them in their playroom with Nikoli talking. Aleksi was in tears.
"She doesn't love us anymore Niki. She doesn't want to stay with us anymore. She only loved Alek. She said so." Aleksi was exaggerating but what do you expect from a three year old? Zak put his arms around her and she sobbed into him.
"Okay. So we run away. If she doesn't want us we'll leave." Nikoli was obviously the one they went to for plans. "We leave tonight."
I walked into the room startling them. They jumped apart and went to their toys. "What's this I hear about running away?"
They all looked away in shame. "You heard her Adrian. She doesn't love us. She only loved A-alek." Aleksi couldn't finish her sentence without her voice breaking on Alek's name.
"That's not true Aleksi and you know it! Don't be spreading lies to your brother. You should know better." She blushed redder. "So instead of bugging your mother, how about we go see your father?"
All of them brightened at that. I went and grabbed the diaper bag and their cups with them following after me. I wrote a note to Lissa explaining where I would be. Then I got them in the car, trying not to look at Alek's carseat.
Don't worry Dimitri fans. He's coming shortly. Hopefully this makes up for the short chapters and the delay in updates. Thank you all my lovely reviewers.
