Eli's POV.
I'm going to kill them. Clare Edwards is dead. Whoever caused this will be dead. They've caused so much damage with one knife. Clare's parents are sobbing uncontrollably. Darcy Edwards doesn't know, and I can't picture anyone knowing how to tell her. Adam's next to me, patting my back as I'm crying on the floor. He's probably crying himself, he has a heart.
Adam and I came to Clare's house so we could walk to school together. I rang the doorbell. No one answered. I rang again. Mr. Martin, Clare's step-dad and Jake's father, opened the door. He had tears in his eyes. I didn't want to get in his business. I asked if Clare was home. He didn't answer, just gestured for me to come in. And as soon as I stepped in, I saw her.
A bloody body on the floor of the living room.
Her Mom and Dad were there too. Her Dad was trying to pull together, talking to the police. Her Mom was making no effort, crying bitterly than I even knew a person could.
I'm not sure how to react. All I'm doing is sitting here, crying, continuing to love her, even though she was already gone. She was gone. She'd never return. We never be Mr. and Mrs. Goldsworthy like I always thought we would. This.. Murderer took it all away. Even if the police couldn't find them, I would.
I'd be the murderous monster they were.
