The Seduction of John S. Willoughby

Part Fifteen

The water is cold, and the cold helps, though he still wishes it was that much closer to freezing point.

(He supposes that he should be grateful that John absolutely refused to look down.)

(He also supposes that he is grateful for the view, however brief, but this does not help, and he again wishes for lower temperatures.)

Evaluate.

Think.

Breakfast, apparently, does not always work.

(Given the circumstances, not surprising – but he had hoped.)

He wonders how to handle this.

(A rare enough occurrence, but an answer always presents itself sooner rather than later.)

He wonders what he feels about this.

(A much rarer and infinitely more bothersome consideration.)

Hormones.

Chemicals, molecules traveling to the appropriate cellular receptors to elicit the corresponding, predictable response in the appropriate tissues.

Nothing more.

Stupid hormones.
